  1. love me some ST 180 but that reminds me of this cover
  2. We need less text and more covers in this thread. There are no hard and fast rules per se-- if you have been in the Silver Connections thread-- you know this-- as often times the exact same book by the same person keeps coming up (kind of silly and maybe that person can't recall doing it multiple times). oh-- here @ChrispyC66 -- here is your shout out. Now can we get back to the fun and the posting of the covers? here's a book we can use to get things moving again..... that sort of goes with the FF what if--- What if Doctor Strange influenced FF 19?
  3. from erasing part of the Fantastic Four to adding to them
  4. I gave effort-- did you give any in trying to understand the connections? APPARENTLY NOT! My book before that was similar to the TWO previous which both showed a purple background. Then some smartarse decided to show the exact same book (which is NOT what I said at all) to which I responded that his lack of effort deserved something that has everything. so whatever. this is supposed to be fun
  5. It was a time when finding any comic books was a bonus-- especially ones so old. There was no comic I would pass on other than maybe DCs (though I took those too - impressionable kid I suppose that Marvel had that zombie control of). I took anything that looked like a comic book period. These were among some of my most liked books and by the time I got them-- I was well aware how important taking care of them was in the long run. But yeah-- they are pretty ragged out as they were even back then. Here's another I coveted back then....
  6. Based on the cover, I assumed that was the last Hulk -- I keed
  7. just throwing these in to compliment the post above. I have plenty more as 190 was my first Hulk purchased at the store (three pack) and I became a fan right away. This was the last one I bought from the rack. Someday, I should read it.
  8. super rough personal copy I've had forever. Beats not having one I suppose. probably got it the same time as this one back in the mid 1970s. They were both in this shape when I originally got them - which is solid for readers.
  9. 3 battles on a cover to the first appearance of the Warriors Three (Fandral, Hogun, and Volstagg - though not called this until the letters page of Thor 244)
  10. so true--- good luck finding a similar thread on these boards
  11. well that didn't take very long is that your copy? looks like a beauty!
  12. come on--- one of you Spider-man lovers are missing out on showing your original ASM 16? I find that hard to believe.
  13. This was posted in the "Post your Garage Sale/Flea Market/Antique Mall Finds Here" thread by @Bearcatcoach
  14. while I have heard of some stores stamping all their copies upon arrival was possible, it was pretty rare. From what I have read, the only copy often was the top book of the pile/bundle of the delivery. Or perhaps they would stamp the last book for each book itself. The use of stamps depended on the retail location-- and whether they needed to have some method to know when something has been on the comic racks too long and was eligible for return. The reasoning is as varied as the number of stores probably. This is sort of why date stamps are a little bit rare. Also-- delivery dates are not set in stone in terms of the when they made it to a store. As you can imagine-- when they left the printer for distribution, the further the destination, the more likely it took longer to get to say California versus New York. Another thing to consider is that many hard core collectors have avoided date stamps and DO NOT prefer them for their collection. That can also impact if a book survived or was taken care of. I would not be surprised if there are practically no AF15 with any sort of date stamp. I'm sure someone has them if they exist but I also think whether it adds to value is up to debate. CGC won't bang the grade save the highest nosebleed level--- but when was the last time you heard of an AF15 in the 9.6 or above grade? Just my take. Those of us who find this thread fun are not hard core about collecting the stamps as much as appreciating their existence. If anyone ever has a scan of an AF15 with a date stamp--- by all means-- share it here!
  15. No way-- that is at minimum a 1.5 or 1.8 book-- without knowing the state of the back cover or contents (assuming complete, no cutouts and attached cover). Someone else mentioned that owning that first book is a "never sell it" situation. I would argue that you can take fine scans of the book if it means that much and be ok letting someone else enjoy it if you have replaced it it with a nicer copy. Then again-- my super old and well loved comics did not have any direct connection to a loved one-- which might factor in.
