I paid $900 for this copy in 2000. I'm not sure exactly how it would grade, but I do know I like it better than almost every CGC 9.2 and 9.4 that I've seen. Great in terms of QP and color saturation!

Picked this up as part of a collection I bought in 1993. That collection is still the best buy I ever made!

Beautiful! I really want the other 100 page giant in the Action run, that black cover...
It must be really tough holding out for 9.8s of these. I find it hard enough to come by a nice 9.6 or the raw equivalent. My 437 is a possible 9.6, but a 9.8, especially with 100 pagers, is so hard to predict.

Finally scored a nice NM 443!

Might as well resurrect this thread too!

I'm a big fan of the Sand Superman Saga, although it certainly could have ended better. But it did usher in Supes' Bronze Age...

Another recent pickup. Another book I had a tough time finding in high grade for years.

I've been working on these bronze runs of the Superman titles for 20+ years. They, along with Shazam, were my absolute faves as a 7 year old. Here's an issue that eluded me in high grade for years that I finally picked up recently...

Sinnott is a heavy inker, sometimes at the expense of the pencils
Maybe that's why I always enjoyed Kirby's FF work inked by Sinnott. It reigns in some of his more excessive tendencies.

I've always found FF 117 and 118 to be particularly cool and unique because of the rare combination of 20 cent price and old style FF logo.

I have Avengers 147 variant as a 3 on my 1-5 rarity scale so it is about middle of the road scarce. In that condition however it is desirable and should sell quickly.
Thanks for the information, and a very accurate prediction. Listed and sold in 10 minutes!

I was just going through my collection and realized I have a pretty nice Avengers 147 30-cent variant. Probably in the vicinity of 9.0-9.2. I am clueless on variants, is this a pretty common one, or worth offering for sale?
Thanks for any insight.

Picked up these two as part of a Big Apple mega deal!

Monterey copy -- another beauty!

Monterey Copy - bellissimo, surefire 9.8!

My favorite pedigree for this kind of stuff is the Monterey collection. Once you get to a certain point in the early-mid '70s the books are incredible, just flawless. I was lucky enough to pick up a dozen or so World's Finests and a couple of Actions from Ronnie Murry years ago on eBay for peanuts. Will post a few when I get the chance.

Bronze-Age Spideys
in Bronze Age Comic Books
Posted
A couple of nice bronze Spideys from a collection I bought in 1993 which has paid for itself about 20 times over by now....
