I was at the LCS last week and ran into a collector friend there. He has just come back from visiting family in another location in Western Canada. He decided to hit the used book store in town. The had just picked up a collection with 30 longs of newsstand books (collector bought of magazine stands in town). He cherry picked all of the keys that were left, and now I am debating whether I take a few hours trip to get the rest. 😂

    Hmm, somewhere in Calgary?

  2. No harm in posting this in the general section.

You could pretty much go into every thread in general and say it should be in X forum.

In regards to the topic, it is surprising how hot modern comics are right now, more specifically the new releases of the week. Every Wednesday my local comic store here in Calgary has long lines to get in, to get the hot comics of the week. As I actually work, by the time I get to the shop on Wednesday evening, all the hot books are usually gone. I missed out on Captain Marvel 18 this week so instead I'm looking for a copy on eBay

Tons of activity in local Facebook groups. Miss out on a book? Guess what, its now being sold for $50, and people are still buying.

I managed to pick up 5 copies of Venom 26 for cover. Will Virus be an important book? Who knows, honestly I just didn't want to miss out like I did on Punchline and numerous others.

Pay attention, moderns are on fire right now. What does this mean long term? Yes there is an over abundance of variants, but demand is evidently still higher than the supply.

  3. A few months ago a sale of an ASM 300 9.8 showed up for ~$200 in the gpa database. This sale was actually for a reprint. Sent a message to George via the gpa website and it was fixed within 5 minutes.(thumbsu

Hoping the grades upon "shipped" are worth the wait! And thanks for helping me in this thread (thumbsu

2 weeks shipping time back to me was tough too, but I had the holidays to tide me over lol

Pleased overall, some hits and misses (all but one of these were pressed):

    • 5 - Web of Spider-Man 32 -  9.4 x1, 9.6 x4 (was hoping for 9.6 or better and thought maybe half would be 9.8)
    • 5 - Star Wars 1 - 9.0 x1, 9.2 x2, 9.4 x2 (very pleased with these. I thought they could be as low as 8.5, but I assumed I would have 9.0 on average).
    • 7 - Punisher 1 Unlimited - 9.6 x3, 9.8 x4 (thought they all could be 9.8, pulled these out of a stack of 25, thought these were the best)
    • 1 - Punisher 1 Limited - 9.6 x1 (happy with this grade, there was a small stain on the back cover that looks like it was mostly removed)
    • 2 - Killing Joke - 9.8 x2 (thought at least one would be 9.8, so great)
    • 1 - Domino 8 - 9.8 x1 (testing my ability to grade moderns)
    • 1 - Batman 357 - 9.2 x1 (had some bad creasing on the back cover, 8.0 before press in my opinion, good result)
    • 1 - Incredible Hulk 340 - 9.8 x1 (I thought it would be 9.6, pressed out a noncolour breaking crease)
    • 2 - X-Force 11 - 9.8 x2 (testing my ability to grade moderns, I have ~20 more of these)

Happy for sure, not great margins on all of these after the cost of grading and pressing, but no regrets.

  5. Modern slow track (excluding prescreens)

    Adamantium – 11/08 - shipped

    Deadpoolica – 11/13 - received

    Eddly – 11/19 - received

    Mayor006 - 11/19 - received

    Frederic9494 - 12/18 - received

Turnaround time is still at 32 business days. I thought for sure that would be decreased now that Adamantium isn't calling multiple times a day!

Deadpoolica, I'm guessing your order will be scheduled for grading by 12/27?!?!
