1st appearance to who? The reader of the comic or the other characters in the comic? Which is more significant? Is it really an appearance if it’s in a dream or a flashback?

If a comic has a new character but doesn’t appear to any of the other characters, is it really a 1st appearance?

I have no point other than to say that the definition of 1st appearance is consistently inconsistent. It will be interesting to see what happens for the domino comic value if she gets popular. Which comic will everyone go after? I would want NM98 as the first appearance of a character presenting herself as Domino…

As soon as stray dogs 1 hit $600 I submitted my 3 copies… they all hit 9.8… but I think they are worth less than $100 now? I’m still hesitant to send hra2 to CGC.

Continues to be stable selling for between $20 to $30 for raw books, closer to $30 still for the Hans variant.

CGC 9.8s are ranging from $80 to $100 which is a healthy spot for it to be holding without much news in terms of show development. I am tempted to submit the remaining 20 or so raw copies that I have to be graded, but am holding off for now. I have 3 copies at CGC now.

• High Republic Adventures 2

Many people are seeing this book as having high spec potential in 2022 (in this forum as well). The youtube community is pushing this book a bit too.

Raw copies are going for between $5 and $13. The high sale is from the UK though, I find that UK sales often create outliers so I put this book around $8 at the moment. 

CGC 9.8s are around $50 to $90. The 1:10 incentive is between about $80 and $100. I have 10 copies of the normal cover and one of the 1:10 incentives. Holding off submitting them for now... also waiting for CGC to recognize the 1st appearance in their label before I consider submitting any of my copies. When the time comes to sell these graded, buyers will want the appearance noted on the label... so due to that, I want it there too.

• Jabba the Hutt Bounty Hunters 1

Mostly selling for cover price still. Might be a good time to buy a 1:25 incentive cover. For now, I just have 10 copies of the Chang variant. I thought there might be some controversy with this cover, but also like it for the 1st appearance.

• High Republic Adventures - Monster of Temple Peak 1

Had a recent high raw sale of $25.41, perhaps an outlier. Raws are generally going for around $5 to $6 or just cover price. CGC 9.8s are around $60. I have 10 copies of this issue.

 

Seeing more strength with HR 1, cgc 9.8 getting closer to $100 or a bit above.

The biggest gain is with HRA 2, lots of recent sales... $15 or so raw and upwards of $100 cgc 9.8. Perhaps aided by the lower supply of 9.8s compared to HR 1.

Haven't really watched the last two since this post, perhaps they are a bit flat (jabba and temple peak).

HRA 1 seems to be a gaining a bit more respect.

I bought a book a while back just because spinning the wheel was fun. Getting the itch now again…

It evidently still has lots of room to grow. I had two 9.6s for sale for 960 each at the vcc… no interest… I imagine they would be popular at that price now.

My test batch of 3 high republic 1s each came back as 9.8s. More comfortable with sending in my remaining ~20 copies (with no pre screen). I think I have two Hans copies too.

Still have 10 high republic adventures #1 and 10 #2 (with one incentive each). Are the 1st appearances being noted on the label for these? Waiting for confirmation before I consider submitting these. I can wait otherwise.

A new number one? I think I’ll pass. I haven’t bought any comics this year so far and I may try to continue that for the rest of the year. My increase in buying new books was primarily a distraction from COVID… time to return to my normal spending habits.

Just figured qualified was for unverified signatures and interior pages cut out (mvs). That is a beautiful defect.

I guess that is pretty significant.

I submitted 4 x 25 modern submissions in one box back in the summer. Three entered one day, the last one the next day. It’s fine.

That is a flashback, so X-force #8......... would be something of a real flashback. Even CGC marked it as the "real" Domino.  I'm not sure if it would be bad to kick this hornet's nest.  I like the book. It is a Decent book. I'm just not sure if it is the 1st. (of Deadpool__)

Ya not deadpool... i think its deadpool's 5th appearance. Just don't want to mention it as a Domino appearance as it will trigger @Lazyboy. If you are reading this Lazyboy, I agree with you, its a mess and not a debate I want to start again.

Its an affordable book when I find it raw. I bought about 15 of these from one seller back in 2019... they all had a large non color breaking bend on the top right of the cover from improper storage (unsold store stock). Good candidates for pressing.

Its the first appearance of deadpool! I think.

And here's my last batch... 

At best, I was hoping for 24 9.8s and a 9.4. So I was pretty close. The 9.4 is a newsstand version that I thought I could sneak in there. The 9.0 is a surprise. The graders notes say:

Not sure how that could have happened... all of these X-Force issues were pressed by my local presser (back in 2019). Not sure where that foreign substance came from? Should have been noticed during the press? Maybe a grader sneezed? Anyway, I can live with one 9.0 considering the others.

I was really nervous for this submission overall. It is a perfect example of what several people have been saying here... people submitting books based on the high prices from June/July 2021 (submitted in July 2021). Back then Stray Dogs was what $400? $500? X-Force 11 was consistently around $150 and was seemingly on its way to $200. Radiant Black was hovering around $100.

And now? Stray Dogs and X-Force 11 are worth $100 in 9.8... Radiant Black is in the $60 range. Anything other than a 9.8 was going to be a problem for this submission (the 9.4 is maybe worth $100 too being a newsstand).

Was really hoping for a 9.9 for one of the X-Force issues... but there are none in the census... perhaps not obtainable for this book.
