Correct. There’s really only one buyer at that level so I laugh when I hear people talk about how much that stuff now brings. I guess that just illustrates the whole it only takes one buyer argument for people to put 🦇 💩 prices on things they are okay keeping.

Awesome piece. Congrats on the sale.  Who said bad things only happen when you get black-out drunk?

A few years ago put a piece up for sale on CAF for a really inflated price of 50K as I didn't really want to let the piece go but figured why not. A few weeks later I got blackout drunk with a few people and listed it on CLink one Saturday night for 69K...a price I don't even remember entering but an indication of the amount I had been drinking. I wake up the next morning to an email that the piece had sold (buyer did pay for it). (shrug)

Was that the Thanos painting by any chance?

Anyone know what the highest prices paid were yet? A lot of expensive stuff seems to remain unsold.

Top Six. But Im sure prices were negotiated to a lesser amount.

And its the same with respect to the BC stuff that was on HA.    a #1 page went for 5k.

So circling back to this pencil piece, if a pencil piece does as much as a #1 page, we have to say it did pretty well

Not if you bought it for $8k :S:wavingwhiteflag:

OK, that's good to know, but I still think 4-5k is pretty good value when you look at what his other battle chasers stuff has auctioned for.

The 8-10k buy just seems like it was an overreach to me.

The market is setting the price for Madureira Battle Chasers material. Without any public offering until recently, we could only base it on the dealer's ask.  The recent hammered results are remarkably less than what was initially asked for on these specific pieces. There is always going to be a Red Monika tax.

Pencil only, no backgrounds, etc?   Seems pretty decent to me.    An aggressive prior ask doesn't mean the auction price wasn't solid IMO.

I believe it sold for $8K or $10K on Kwan's site. That is a significant loss for whoever bought it before.

  7. The Red Monika Battle Chaser's piece was listed for a whole lot more on the dealers website. I think the seller took a big hit. Considering the hammer prices for Battle Chaser's pieces at the most recent ComicLink auction, it seems there's not a whole ton love for them.

IMO, it's because it just didn't look that good in B&W.  In color, it's much more impressive.  Still, I thought it would go higher just because it's Moore and Totleben.

I had it pegged between $6000 and $8000 because of Moore and Totleben as well. Totleben is a master artist.

I don't get this one. You could by 3 good Hellboy covers for that. It's really cool, and all, but if you're going to spend that kind of money on a Mignola, you want Hellboy. Just my opinion, FWIW.

Mignola Dracula material doesn't come up often. Same as his Batman-related material.  Still $144K :dollars:
