Tradds art is sublime. I was one of the many waiting for 12:00 EST to submit my purchase request, but when I saw the price tag for the page that I wanted for 20K I had to take a step back. I was expecting 10K-12K. There are many items on my want list that I much rather acquire at that specific price point.
Congrats to Tradd, Felix and all the buyers.

By any chance...did Bill Cox and Crew do a recap on the results of this auction?

Exactly. Panels 6-8 were all stats. I was hoping it would land in the low 20s. Thought it was on par with pricing for V pages. A page with no stats with V would probably have been in the high 30s at least.

I don't know if some other pages have sold privately for more, but, the Miracleman #16 page result struck me as fine as well at $21K. Really pretty page I have to say.
I was expecting the V page to be around the 30s, but I did not realize a portion of the V page was stats. The Miracleman page is definitely beautiful art. A lot better looking than some other pages of the run ending recently at similar prices. Totleben is at his best in this one. I had it at high 20s-low 30s

Im always intrigued by Alan Moore's related material. The David Lloyd V for Vendetta page and both Totleben's pages (Swamp Thing #50 & Miracleman #16) seemed to have finished at the lower end of the spectrum.

I (think I) remember when the cover to #1 was 50K, not too many years ago- seemed like an insane price at the time.
The Capullo Batman #50 splash was in consignment with Burkey for $50K. Seller can't be too happy.

I dunno.. well drawn but not a ton going on..
It's beautifully drawn for sure. But I felt it would go higher because it not only features the proverbial Winter image used in most sites along with Pluto as Miracle Dog, but Winter tells the funny story about having sex. BTW, That girl needs a shirt.

I guess she knows her TMNT

John Totleben Miracleman page for $21K...seems very cheap...no?

Six breasts didn't bother me either.
I wonder if the consignor was hoping for first appearance money, and the market wasn't having it because the image of Lucifer is so small.
I spoke with the consignor, and he is somewhat satisfied. He was expecting $70K-80K. But prices seem to be on the lower end in general.

Sure, but when I was looking at the page and considering buying it, what canceled out the Lucifer for me was the woman with 6 drooping breasts, nipples out, right in the middle. Not the most attractive image and definitely one I can't frame for people to see in my house. That's a big knock(er) on the page in my opinion.
Its hell...what else can we expect.

Who cares what the ask was? It's like ebay prices vs ebay sold prices. That page at 60k is super strong. It wasn't an 80k page.
Yes, but having the first appearance of Lucifer should give it a boost.

Not sure if it was ever on the website for that much, but, it was initially offered by them at $150K. Don't remember if it was via e-mail blast or if they reached out privately to select customers. Later reduced to $125K.
I know the consignor, and it was listed for 90K o the website last year. If metro offered it privately before posting it on the website for over $100 it was without the knowledge of the consignor. I know that for sure.
-
I had it pegged at 75K. The page was listed for 90K at Metro. I don't think there was ever an ask for over100K

I was after the Charest X-Men cover and I thought the bidding was very lively and it ended at a strong price!
Pretty piece. Did you win?

Can she at least take 10sec to describe the lot.

Definitely a buyers market today. She is horrendous.

Since I can no longer afford Sandman pages, I might as well find and renew my appreciation for the pages I own. Such a fantastic series with timeless characters and stunning art.
Congrats to the winners in today's auction and acquiring a piece of history with the first page in the series where we finally get a clear view of Dream's face in Issue #1 for the first time and with the Very First appearance of Lucifer in Issue # 4. Pages of that nature very rarely become available. Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg were firing on all cylinders.

That’s quite a bucket list of first appearance art.

Black Knight
Captain Marvel (Monica Rambeau)
Iron Fist
Iron Man
MODOK
She-Hulk
Thunderbird
Warlock
Not Marvel, but the auction also has the page with Sandman's- Lucifer's very first appearance (birth page).
