  1. Yes. Not sure when the faux Double Action 1's were built: about 10 years ago? 1 Frankensteined master copy of Double Action 1 then the other 7 copies photocopied with a color laser copier for a total of about $4k in costs to Ian?
  2. I wonder how many coverless More Fun, All-American, Movie Comics or Mutt and Jeff comics Mr. Nelson chopped up to marry 7-8 copies of the faux Double Action #1 at a price of $500/copy for Ian?
  3. But they did not have print on demand technology in 1939. To set up a 64 page comic, run then stop a web press may even mean a minimum print run of 2k copies collated. Give away the extras at the All-American/National comics Dec, 1939 X-mas party?
  4. Realistically a minimum 1k copy b/w print run with color cover then collated. Returns later pulped for the war effort?
  5. At that time (cover date Jan, 1940), the More Fun stories reprinted were about 2 years old. Seemed like a DC test case to see if NY kids would spend 10c on Double Action #2, an all black and white comic with no ads, rather than a color comic with perhaps some black/white/red story art (like More Fun, Detective Comics, Action Comics) with color ads.
  6. 1. I would not bring the 7 longs of full comic series to the con unless u have a pre-sale set up. 2. Build your own wall rack for security and to max out your display of premium comics, slabs. 3. U have the option to sign up for Square or Helcim on your cell phone for cr card sales, as comics /toys are impulse purchases. Cosplayers don't usually have pockets to carry much cash so they just carry a cr card. 4. Would recommend paying a bit extra for a 10' x 10' booth at a corner location. This will increase your foot traffic in case u are set up next to a 30' tower of t-shirts, Funkos or movie posters. 5. Shoplifters all around so partner up with your buddy to watch each other's booth(s) esp. on the Saturday which is usually busier for retail sales than the Sunday. Good luck.
  7. Here is a link to raw lower grade Double Action 2 for your reading pleasure. Seems to be made up of reprints from 3 More Funs (including MF #28, 29) but all in black and white. Historical oddity.
  8. I read that CGC will have a basic cleaning service that may remove price stickers from one's factory sealed cassette tapes even though stickers are part of the fun retail history of the item. How many grading tiers for VHS or Betamax at CGC? Their competitor (that shall remain unnamed) has standard size slabbing at $90 US or upgrade to archival UV slabbing at $125 US each.
  9. My buddy who is a semi-retired Canadian pro wrestler said 'Fast X' was good but I will save my $ for The Flash or 'Into the Spider-verse' movie.
  10. Green Lantern does not like KFC. From the House of DC ideas 2017.
  11. Overstreet buying guide states Double Action #2 vg is about $8k plus there is supposed to be a recession in the USA and Canada this summer 2023.
  12. Just sniffed a pack of 100 Pro Line. Just smells like a musty kitchen.
  13. My birth month: Adventure Comics # 322 Curt Swan cover with Super-horse ASM 15 Kraven X-men 6 vs. Sub-mariner. (Not the Jim Lee version u young whipper-snappers).
  14. How much for the faux Double Action 1 that Ian made from b/w photocopies of early More Fun pages? Harley was given a copy to spread the legend of the unattainable unicorn ... at that time pre-Comic Connect auction of legit Double Action 1.
  15. From the Ian Levine complete DC collection. Most likely conserved or restored; enroute to CGC.
  16. PBA is sending lots of GA DC to CGC now, as the consignor was not a slabber. A great GA collection even if keys are conserved or restored.
  17. I recommend sending this in to Cgc marked 'ATTN: Matt Nelson' for pro verification if any funny business on covers plus the 4% of market value/Overstreet fee, of course.
  18. Gazetinha Special from 1939 courtesy of IG Brazil brings us 'Super Homem' from 'Action Comics':
  19. This Detective 27 announced on FB to come out for online auction in Nov, 2023:
  20. Rare DC Flash ashcan (not mine but wish it were).
  21. Action #7(?) panel on Brazilian Gazetinha cover June 1939. Pic thanks to IG's Brazil Comic King.
  22. Action Comics 1 cover preview before Brazilian Gazetinha #445 December 1938 which is about when USA Action Comics #7 released. Thanks Brazil Comic King!
  23. Interesting eBay auction running for Hulk 181 slabbed covers for those that have a coverless copy; no reserve and not mine here (no logo).
