  1. Great historic article about National/Detective Comics's year one. Perhaps part 2 mentions All-American Comics Company? Thanks for the link!
  2. Kraven movie poster looks like an angry (DC/Charlton, GK) Phantom of which a USA movie and Quebec, Canadian straight to DVD film released decades ago.
  3. Saw this loose Hulk 181 back cover slab blue label on eBay valued at over $200: Hulk #181 parts
  4. Fingerprint, KFC grease, blood, iodine, ice cream stain?
  5. I sure hope issue 2 of 'Void Rivals' shows GI Joe meeting Transformers, as I did not get that spec feeling while doing a quick flip thru issue 1.
  6. Potentially of divorce proportions, sadly.
  7. Happy birthday to Neal Adams and his favorite blue shirt if he was still living to this day.
  8. Chance I may drive down with Mister Ed. Comics guests include: Steranko, Marv Wolfman (NTT), Grell (Green Arrow), Larry Hama (GI Joe), Bob Hall (inker), Mark Waid (DD, Kingdom Come writer), John Beatty (Zeck's primary inker), etc. https://www.wasummercon.com/2023-guests/
  9. U may have better luck moving this topic to the Golden Age or platinum age forum.
  10. Were sales slower because they added the 2nd hall which increased competition by about 50%? Was the crowd less because folks were lining up for Across the Spider-verse, Fast X movies or shopping for Father's Day which is next week?
  11. 1 of Canada's best comics by Dream Wave "Transformers and G.I Joe" 1-6. Good read, great art by Jae Lee, executive Pat Lee. 2003 cover art:
  12. Blame the typo on the Disney Nostalgia Con co-organizers Jerry O'Hara and David T. Alexander. Robt Beerbohm drove in to Anaheim, CA and was vending vintage comics in April 1971. Fun fact: that Kirby 8 plate 'Deities' portfolio was created from superheroes Kirby dreamed up in the late 1960's while still at Marvel. Later published by DC as the Fourth World titles: New Gods, etc.
  13. Crikey, I just read the fine print. $3 was admission for all three (3) days of this 1971 Anaheim comic con. Stick your nose close to several Frazetta oil on canvas paintings in wonderment and awe! Kirby not bad either, as he was debuting a portfolio of fresh characters. e.g. Darkseid, Mr. Miracle, Metron with Moebius chair, and Orion before the release of 'New Gods' #1.
  14. $3 admission and a great media and stellar comic guest list at Anaheim, CA 1971 after the first SDCC. Pop culture included sci-fi and horror (e.g. King Kong) movie themes, special FX.
  15. Terry Stroud and Stephen Stroud told me this Easter 1971 flyer was 1 of the first comicons they sold at in Anaheim, not San Diego.
  16. Lots of heat press brands and knock-offs on Amazon or Ebay. Could try Tusy minimum 15" x 15" square. Some prefer a swing away top platen. Up to u and your budget, availability on FB marketplace or wherever.
  17. Decent writing and above average art by Jae Lee on 20 year old universe x-over on this pulse pounding premiere issue will pull it out of the $1 bin, I hope. Below Marvel mini sold well circa 1987.
  18. The expanded WCC has now sold out of all wall, centre dealer's tables and artist alley stage tables. Wait-lists have been set up for all 3 categories in case of any cancelations. Thank u to all the collector and vendor support. We are trying to arrange 1 ATM for the show. Dealers will have access to free wi-fi to run their cr card apps. Hope to see u all Sunday August 13, 2023.
  19. Flash 86 first Black Canary GA seems soft to me even in 3.5.
  20. QC must be busy finalizing the new mag Cgc cases with fewer oil looking stains, as 'the competitor' just released their brand new mag slab design also.
  21. Yes. Not sure when the faux Double Action 1's were built: about 10 years ago? 1 Frankensteined master copy of Double Action 1 then the other 7 copies photocopied with a color laser copier for a total of about $4k in costs to Ian?
  22. I wonder how many coverless More Fun, All-American, Movie Comics or Mutt and Jeff comics Mr. Nelson chopped up to marry 7-8 copies of the faux Double Action #1 at a price of $500/copy for Ian?
