  8. Your books get loaded onto a cart. If its first on the cart, it gets other books piled on top. The cart is then pushed to a desk where the grader grabs the books on top, therefore, your books that arrive first, get graded last.

  12. My first shop was Comics & Cards on Wiles Rd. in Coconut Creek Florida. This was about 93-94 and I was 9-10 years old. I was more into Marvel cards than comics. 1992 Marvel Masterpieces is what got me into comics. I think they way Joe Jusko painted the heroes and villains so realistically is what drew me in. Anyway, I remember Comics & Cards would have the special/insert cards under the display for what seemed like a million dollars at the time ($20), which I could never afford. So I would buy a pack in hopes of getting a special. I remember loving venom, carnage and the whole Maxium Carnage story. i bought the TPB since the issues seemed so expensive back then. I remember the Spider-Man 30th Anniversary hologram set seeming like the holy grails. I know I'm making some older collectors cringe, but thats what it was like for me. I remember seeing the first appearances on the back of the Marvel Masterpieces and thinking, "one day I'll get those." Looks at sig *cough cough*

  18. Ah I remember my first slabbing experience. You learn so much, so fast. I actually didn't get addicted when I won my first slab off of ebay. $51 for a 9.6 Venom 1 Gold Variant. I actually had that for a year or so... I even bought an ASM 375 9.8 for cheap some time after. What really got me addicted was sending in my first raw book to be graded. The wait felt like forever...but when I got that slab back (Secret Wars 8 9.2), I started digging through my boxes. I slabbed anything and everything with a cool cover, or semi-keys. Many 8.0's, 7.5, 9.4s, etc. I started to smarten up. I was lucky to be able sell off all of those books and put them into keys. Then I started to hunt raw keys and got better at grading. I've since slabbed about 100 books and sold them all. I used the money to buy the books in my sig. I currently own three slabs. AF15, X-Men1 and a Wytches 1 9.8. 27 slabs are out being pressed and graded. When they come back, its time to sell and go for that FF1!
