  1. Beautiful copy Marvel reprints don't get enough love! Been on the look out for a nice dark red, well centered myself, congrats! Off topic: What's going on with the slab notes on this series? Did they change to adding cover artists at some point? And why no notes of the creators of the stories? I know they are reprints, but this book has Stan Lee, Kriby, Sinnot, Heck. They are worthy of a note on the slab It seems pretty random if they add the cover artist(s), and I know some of artists aren't known, but I think they should credit the ones they can.
  2. +1 add that to my stack of "when you upgrade" books
  3. That's awesome! I also give my son a stack of beaters until they are unreadable, he just loves turning the pages and points at the characters he knows... and then tears the covers off or chews on them I bought him this when he turned 1 month old, we read it together though so no accidents ya I'm a nerd.
  4. I'm less worried about the grade as I am about the book shifting from the cover. Anyone have a similar slabbed book?
  5. Just the spine of the cover is split, the book itself is tight and ow.
  6. yes I know very well. If it landed in a slush puddle, it would have been finished, even if already slabbed!
  7. Wow, that is a great story, thanks for sharing! Love your OA in the thread Congrats on the HoF cover
  8. Best possible outcome, it sucks that it happened at all, but you getting the book back is like divine intervention or something!
  9. Cute! I tried to ease my son into it, but now he's almost 2 and in the "must tear all paper" phase. The expensive books are behind closed doors
  10. Thanks buddy! I believe it was originally the cover from SSoC #12, but the UK version has some really deep colours, love it! I think the original is really washed out.
  11. I agree no 9.8 here, I'm just terrible at 9.4/9.6 Thanks
  12. This is a con only option, at least for collector cards it is. BGS grading services I don't see how they couldn't have 4-5 guys inside the booth tent doing reviews and sealing them on site. Work it as an assembly line - 3 people grade/resto check/page count the book, next person puts it in the holder, last person attaches the sticker. I'd be all over that for 5 bucks a book. Makes trading a hell of a lot easier too, and I don't mind paying $5 over raw for a book I intend to open anyway.
  13. Nice brother No insult intended but is the spine split? I'm thinking of slabbing a book with a fully split spine. It's a book I've been hunting for years, and in the highest grade I can afford right now. But I want to take care of it, it looks beautiful in the Mylar, but I want it slabbed. Has anyone had a split spine slabbed? Would the book or cover separate once in the slab? I bought it the day my son was born, it'll be his in 16 years, 5 months. 2034
  14. I love Adams/O'neil's Batman stuff, it's just timeless and classic, but when I first read Starlin's Warlock it blew my mind. I couldn't peel my eyes away from this page. How could he do so much on one page, catch up the reader, set up the story, and have a header with such meaning. I wasn't born until years after all this was written, and I had the ability to read it all in one go; but to me Starlin is just as, or more, brilliant, timeless, and classic.
  15. I think it's more about the resto check, page count, etc that's the point of these, not long term storage or something. As a dealer at a con, would you like to be able to Review grade 100 books, from artists at the show, for $5 each? I would guess they would be easier to sell for SS purposes. Also as a collector, and you're trying to sell 10 keys at a con, would you spend the $5 each to be able to sell the books easier since they now have a resto check/ page count, etc. The review grades are basically a sealed pre-screen. If you can fit them into a top loader after, I think it's worth 5 bucks.
  16. http://imgur.com/a/BJSu1 I'm terrible at grading moderns, I never know what is considered production and what's not. The link above has better images I think. I'm guessing that most of the spine on this book is production related other than the ~4 spine ticks? Am I looking at a 9.4/9.6 here am I way off? Thanks guys!
  17. Not sure, I first thought they were just Card Saver 1's, but it looks like it has an inner well to protect the corners.
