Super cool !
I take it resub from previously restored copy (SP) ?
Yes. It was previously a 6.0 Mod. But it was very close to a Slight already. Had some color touch removed, mostly from the from the spine.
They did a fantastic job, the book looks great.
I love the "conserved" blue label! A step in the right direction methinks

Alright!
fantastic pickup, congrats! (thumbs u

Thanks, Marty!First Timely pedigree for me!
FANTASTIC!
mm
first the Select 1, now this pedigree, you are on a hot streak!

There's been a copy on eBay with a $350 BIN for ages. Not bad, but has some writing up the leg of the woman on the left that ruins it for me.
Think of it as a personalized "tattoo"...
Sometimes the writing is interesting, but I agree, it can be a very detracting point.

Did anyone happen to catch what the blue label #35, 5.5 went for in the CC auction ?
-J.
$43,000
Make me feel better about my San Diego purchase.
It looks better than the grade! (thumbs u

That Uncanny Tales is uncanny!
isn't that the uncanny truth! One rarely finds an Atlas book above a 7, I am truly in awe

$38,525 with reserve not met.
Wow. How much does he want for this?!?! I get the appeal, but I didn't realize that the expectations were this high.
Now $40,501 with reserve not met.
So the answer to your question is: "A lot!"
Is that in BG or SI units? I cannot find the conversion to dollars....

I've gotten way out of control, so perhaps there will be a Ciorac sales thread in the near future

third pre-Robin
peter, that is gorgeous! wow!

It probably does. I am going through a reading craze of every EC and I have found that characters get reused frequently, such as Ezra, the undertaker. The story is different each time, but the character itself has the same characteristics.

I haven't read it in a while, but I think she was too fat!!
(I kinda hope I'm wrong about that, but that's how I remember it.)
that was it exactly I am afraid
I have a digital copy of it, if anyone wants a good read! Just shoot me a PM
-
Just a little while...but Rick you will get the first shot at the book when I decide to sell it.
Cross my heart and hope to fry.
deep fry?

Snagged this sweeeet puppy at SDCC...
Those colors are very bright, it hurts my eyes!
Much better.

ZZutak, do you accept payment in diamonds?

if one existed...the mile high is the 9.0 I think... I own the 4.0 and the 3.5 is the cosmic aeroplane copy I sold to Win...Hey GAtor,Three part question my friend...My Gerber Journals have most A-Man books at the 5-7 range Would you be willing to divulge besides for the 26 which are the rarest you have seen and collected? How many copies of 22 have you come by and have you ever seen the 2.5 that sits on the CGC census right now? What would be a price range per point for a 22 if a person was trying to find a copy someday? I really cant find any data on the subject besides for the Larson copy that sold some 11 years ago...thanks buddy...glad to hear you tore it up in Tampa (thumbs u
26 is the toughest followed by 25
22 shouldn't be any tougher than 20-24 but it is so highly coveted it is likely the 3rd toughest to obtain
I've owned 5 copies (4 at one time back in 2008/9), but the 2.5 was not one of them (2 were raw so one of them might be the 2.5 now)
Expect to pay $1000+ a point these days to obtain a copy
$6,000 for a 6.0 copy?
the 2.5 is likely one of my raw copies...
that's it, no more on the census...a 6.0 might not even exist
It's just about top of my wants list and if a 6.0 turned up for $6000 I'd be delighted to have it.
sacentaur told me the Larson copy was out there for a while but has since sold? That's a book I'd like to track down (for GAtor so he could sell me his undercopy!)
This is the last and only luck I have had in finding it being sold publicly...$5750.00 including BP for a nice provenance WHITE page 9.0 albeit it 11 years ago seems good Linky ...Never hurts to dream That book is the real deal right there my friends
that is crazy! it is so pretty

I have a few more nice comics from SDCC week. Here is one of them
This and the Subby are my two favorites by far
Even though it is labeled EP, it looks incredibly fresh in hand. It is the highest graded copy and one of only 3 copies I know of with white pages.
Some day I would love to see your collection. It must be amazing.
yet another fantastic yellow cover! Congrats, it would be quite a sight to see your stash one day! (thumbs u

What is it with GA yellow covers? They make me so happy and I have no idea why!

'Zip Comics #14, BiroThe flaming lizard man always freaks me out a little

Recently came back from CCS. Chose not to slab it. It looks perfectly fine in a double mylar and full back
Spine was split with tape stains and some paper loss on the back cover. Also was a taped tear extending into the front cover. The first wrap was pretty rough as well and needed leaf casting. Obviously extensive work but it looks great now.
That is very pretty, congrats! (thumbs u
-
What is his aversion to grading it? If I had the highest known copy of the most valuable book it'd be graded and then the slab would be sealed in Lucite so nothing could ever happen to it
I am not convinced that a slab is the safest place to protect a book wherein the smallest dent is akin to looses vast amounts of money.
I wouldn't even want to transport it any distance.
I would be afraid to breathe around it let alone transport it! a dent, a nick, or a tear results in literally millions of dollars down the tube

I was surprised at how well cap does internationally. If the roles were reversed, how many americans would read about or watch a movie about "Captain Chile"? The historical ties I think made him an international icon, but that is my opinion.

Recent pickup
I have one of those and like the art but I still like his old corny costume.
I love your Atomic Thunderbolt!

I feel like there has been a lot of competition for Timely's this year, so it's been awhile since I felt like I got a break on a book.
I know $293 isn't a super amazing deal, but I didn't think I could get this issue under $400.
I was nervous because of the terrible ebay photo and description, but I'm happy with it.
turned out to be this:
That is a pretty 1.8! I would say that getting the tape removed would give it a lot more eye appeal, but other than that it looks like a solid copy!
Have a Cigar! Golden Age only....!
