So he wants signature confirmation which you said you would cover.
Using Xpress Post with package dimensions of 16 x 12 x 4 and weight of 1 kg with sig confirmation and insured for $200 CDN is going to be around $112 CDN or $82 USD.
So you are picking up $71 USD in shipping or thereabouts now.
He doesn't want insurance just a signature confirmation
Uhmm the insurance should be for your own protection not his...
It would have 100 of insurance on it already because of how it would be sent but like I said once I get an accurate quote I'll update it.

Approximation:
Book purchased $108
Sold $220
Shipping fees covered $70
Profit $42 - Not including eBay and PayPal cut
That about right?
The first two are right and I sold it on facebook not ebay and the rest I'll let you know.

You can't ship a CGC book in or out of Canada, properly packaged, for less than $25
There were other options and I thought it was a bit cheap as well so I'll see what they tell me.
When you're doing any calculation you should keep your common sense radar working. That radar is based on past experience. You've sold enough books to know $11 won't work.
It's costing me a minimum of $15 to ship a package anywhere in Canada or the US. That's a raw book in a relatively small box without tracking or insurance. A slab properly packaged-double boxed - is minimum $25 in Canada or US.
UK? Won't be cheap.
Yeah I'm going to get the quote soon because I'm curious as well.
An 18x12x6 (a box I ship my slabs in) weighing 1 kilogram from the GTA is $144.84 CDN via expresspost (the only option with a signature confirmation) or $107 US.
Jim
That's the thing I'm doing the cheapest way so we'll see what happens.

Not what I asked. What did you quote the buyer for shipping? If you only quoted him $11 and said that you would pick up the rest that will definitely eat into your profit margin.
I quoted him 10 for shipping and said I would cover the rest

Gabe- How much did you sell the Batman 189 for, not counting shipping and fees? How much did you pay for it?
I bought it for 108 USD
I sold it for 220 USD
Even with shipping you should make a decent profit. Nice going!!
Thanks I just want to confirm what the postal code is with him before I get the quote just to make sure
-
Is he paying $11 BP for shipping and you are picking up the rest?
If so $11 BP is only $18 CDN.
How is that evening out? You are still short at minimum $40 CDN and that is without sig confirmation...
I sold it for USD

$11 to the UK? Are you sure about that? Something does not seem right about that quote...Where did you get the quote from? I plugged a 1 kg package in with dimensions that would fit a slab nicely and cheapset I got was $18 with no tracking or insurance....Tracked Packet Intl is looking like about $60...
And now with a sig required, he needs to send express post. That doubles or triples the shipping cost doesn't it?
Jim
Yes it increases cost significantly.
Agreed but with the weak dollar it will equal out

From what I remember it doubles or triples the cost

Comics sold
Immortal Iron Fist 17 CGC 9.8 $130
Batman 189 CGC 7.0 Restored
How'd you do on the restored #189?
Not sure I'll let you know on Monday
It's sold, but you don't know how you did?
And he doesn't even have a holiday in Canada to explain the delay!
The person that purchased it is in the UK and the shipping quote came to 11 dollars but he wanted a sig so I want to see how much that will cost since I said I would cover it.

Comics sold
Immortal Iron Fist 17 CGC 9.8 $130
Is that a $15 profit after all fees etc?
Just another word of advice...spending $115 to net $15 is not the best business model, especially when you don't deal in volume
Yes and that's because I wanted a quick sale today, I also hope to sell my IH 180 today as well.
So willing to sell it for $200 to make a few $ quick today...or a case of Xforce 1s?
No sticking to 275 but thanks

And how do you expect to sell the ff53 for any profit when only ONCE this year would you have made money on it???
Good question. I was thinking of listing locally or on FB to see what happens as locally there aren't many good comics for sale in my area and on FB they like to haggle.

Whats your current inventory?
Can you break it down to:
Books you will sell in <45 days, 45-180 days, >180 days
Fun task no putting books into a category with a condition such as *this will sell if XYZ happens* (such as they announce Aphra is getting her own series).
That was harder to do then I thought but I do have some comics I know I want to sell in 30-45 days if possible.
IH 180 CGC 5.0 SS
FF 53 CGC 7.0
Immortal Ion Fist 17 CGC 9.8
It's not supposed to be super easy. There is a reason to it. Would be awesome to include buy prices and your realistic sell price too.
IH 180 CGC 5.0 SS Paid $191
Want to sell for $300
FF 53 CGC 7.0 Paid $135
Want to sell for $150-175
Immortal Ion Fist 17 CGC 9.8 Paid $115
Want to sell for $150-180

If you believe you should buy on the way down Uncanny XMen 141 and Thor 344 are great picks.
Thor 344 would I don't see anything happening with X-men 141 other then it being a key issue
He was being sarcastic. Neither book is considered hot or really a book you should be buying at near the going rate if you want to make a profit.
Ah ok I already bought a cheap copy of Thor 344 and you have a point.
