This one would definitely be a top five contender for sure.

Its funny, when I compare Marvel and DC Books from this same era, it's like looking at books from two different Earths...Earth-1 and Earth-What?!

DC was the powerhouse, with three decades of solid publishing to back it up, but if I was ten years old in 1965 I'm pretty sure Marvel would have been getting my 12 cents.

Looking back as an aging collector, there's a certain charm and sense of history that I get from the DC books as they progress from decade to decade that makes me happy as a run collecter.  Perhaps there's an essay in here somewhere for another day...

Yeah i have to admit that as bad as that cover is ... now i am wondering how it all happened ( Jimmy marrying a gorilla) and how it worked out ?? so even though it is hokey there was some decent allure due to cover to buy this issue back then !!

And we all know DC LOVED gorilla covers !! i heard they were always some of their top sellers!!

  2. I love G.I. Combat ! your duplicates are better than my keeper copies, someday i may go for the 1-100 run ! it's so tempting but i don't even want to start it yet,

i applaud you for you registry set !

i really like the 1-44 issues run (not sure if too many other people do though)

I think issue #1 might be one of the most violent covers ever depicted

i love the grey tone issues and #76 (man vs tank cover i think its #76) is my second favorite war cover of all time!!

my all time favorite war cover is my avatar:smile:
