 a similar thing happened with coins many years ago ,.. in 1883 the new Liberty " V"  nickel came out and it was missing the words "Cents" on the back under the V

counterfeiters quickly realized they could gold plate these nickels and pass them off as five dollar gold pieces and word spread across the nation !! everyone saved them !! very soon afterwards the mint issued a new nickel "With Cents" not as many people wanted the "with cents" piece and today they are way more valuable !!

so many "no Cents" nickels were saved that even today a person can get an almost uncirculated example for around $10
