  4. Shipping: Certified books, shipping is included FREE within North America, ROW we split it. Raw books, include $10 for shipping within North America. ROW I will split with interested parties. Who wins: Time stamp seals the deal as to who wins regardless of the form of communication (including PM, in the thread, text or phone conversation). A negotiation is not a deal until both sides have agreed on terms. If there is an unconditional posted (or communicated) it will trump all negotiations unless we have already both agreed to terms before the was posted. In that case, the will have been in vain. Except that it will give you street cred and look cool to passers by. No House Of Shame or Probationary members or any others of ill repute. Returns: I am considered a very good grader among my peers ( Here is a link to my kudos thread ) but since even CGC is inconsistent I will not guarantee a CGC grade. I will guarantee to be within one grade increment in either direction - so if I am calling the book a 9.4 it could go 9.2 or 9.6. If it falls outside of those parameters (and it does happen that they go in both directions), I will offer a refund. But I don't expect anyone to complain if I undergraded it. I will accept returns if item is otherwise not as described. Consider all books pressed. Pricing: I try to price books close to fair market value. I am open to offers but it's not very likely I'm going to be accepting offers at 30% off fair market value.
  5. That's a work around I use on other sites and will start using it on this. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- On a side note, I just want to add that my criticism wasn't meant to be personal and just constructive as I've known George for a long time and have been a large supporter of his product for as long as I've known about it. Over the years we've talked a lot about stuff. George reached out to me, is fully aware of this thread and people's complaints and is making tweaks and changes. So I guess right now we'll need a little patience until he gets things the way he wants them.
  6. That's an outlier and pretty much meaningless in the grand scheme of things. It's not any more useful than if a copy sold for double the average price. Both are just outliers.
  7. I've been using it and I still find it to be more time consuming to use than the previous version. The one thing I notice most is jumping between issues. Sometimes when I am pricing multiple issues within a title, I will jump back and forth between issues to gauge value. It's impossible to do with this new site without going back and forth, and really it's unnecessarily time consuming. The older version was indispensable for doing this. and I miss it greatly. It's a chore now when pricing multiple issues within a run and quite frustrating. And this isn't just a design to 'get used to', it's less efficient. 2nd (and this is kind of a piggy back to my previous point) when you choose from your Saved Titles, why do the issue numbers pop up on the right but the site switches to a new page after you click on an issue number? To me, it would seem to be more logical to open to a fresh page after choosing a title and then just having the list of issues to scroll through. -------------------------------------------------- The site is quicker (although still slow at times) but the other main complaint I have is still visual clunkiness and lots of scrolling. With the previous site, you could sometimes open up multiple issue numbers without hardly any scrolling on a desktop. On the new redesign, you have to scroll within the only issue available to you to do anything - go back to Saved Titles, choose another issue number, etc. Everything requires more scrolling. Not a big deal if you're looking up one issue, but if you're pricing a lot of inventory (or looking at auctions as they are quickly ended trying to stay on top of them) it's very time consuming and frustrating. If you guys all remember, clunkiness and use of space / scrolling was one of the main complaints that CGC got from users on the chat forum when this newest iteration was launched, and arch ended up launching multiple theme choices on the bottom left in an effort to try to amend this. I've used the smallest theme since it was introduces and I STILL think that there is too much scrolling on the CGC chat forum site. The new GPA design has the same issue - lots wasted spaced creating more work to get less information per page. -------------------------------------------------- Finally, after looking up prices for several books, I do find the graph annoying. If anything, it should open at the bottom of the Total books sold and not at the top of them so I don't have to scroll past it every time I want to look at previous sales. But making a toggle for it would be even better. Anything to reduce scrolling would help at this point. --------------------------------------------------- Another thing that makes reading data complex is the way everything is now in exactly the same font and color. One feature of the old GPA look was that slightly different color coding and fonts made culling data quicker and easier. You could do it at a glance. It was almost instantaneous. With the new look, you really have to squint and read everything thoroughly to get what you need out of it. Because everything looks the same the interface is just not as intuitive or user friendly as it used to be. Just look at the example below for trying to analyze a trend for an issue in a particular grade. Does anybody else have trouble culling information quickly compared to the old site or is it just me?
  8. This in a nutshell nails it. You get literally everything you need in one click. And it stays there until you choose to remove it. I have a pretty good 'feel' or gut instinct for what will and won't work, and just like i felt that the new CGC site was going to never be as intuitive or user friendly as the previous site, I have a similar feeling about the new GPA site. The old look was just fantastic and really didn't need changing IMO.
  9. OK, I did not notice that option. It`s going to take a little playing with it to see how I feel about it but the first thing that comes to mind (and I do it often) is I have to GO BACK to an issue number and reopen it if I want to compare or double check something, rather than just scroll through (up and down) to the issues I already had open previously. I still think the older format is still preferable for this particular feature.
  10. I`m a long time supporter of George and I use GPA frequently but I would also draw a parallel between the changes on this chat forum and GPA`s new roll out. I`m not a fan of the new chat forum for many reasons, and visual clunkiness is one of the main ones. Lots of wasted white space and scrolling that I never had to do before and still remember how much more friendly the old forum was, even though it has been years since the change over. I would also prefer being able to access more than one issue at a time like the old site. In fact, I`d say that it`s invaluable and a must to return to that format. Going back and forth is a real pain when pricing runs. This is a huge priority for me. I also agree that removing live listings from the site would really be helpful. Too much clutter IMO. It`s nice if you want it, but forcing people to look at something they have no interest in is counter productive. I also agree that being able to keep checked preferences for non-Universal would be a great feature to help declutter unless you actually want to see it. I also agree that making graphs optional is a great idea. That`s my
  11. If you grade it a 5.5 accurately, people still won`t pay 5.5 for it unless the seller has a reputation as being either a good grader or an under grader. And the proof is in the results for MCS. They get well over market for their books (just going by what I`ve read on here - I`ve never used them). I don`t know how you can argue with results.
  12. Just my opinion but I hardly remember an auction where people actually trust the grade and pay full market value for a raw book. It`s an anomaly. Sure there are a few `trusted`sellers (and most people keep that sort of information close to their vest) but as a general rule it`s expected for most sellers to overgrade. So the fact that MCS under grades and gets over their customer`s expectations is actually something that is not the industry norm. Also, I`d add that many buyers (and most savvy buyers) don`t even care what the listed grade is (I don`t). They use scans and description to value items themselves and bid accordingly. MCS has a very interesting business model and it seems to work. From what I`ve read, most consignors get prices well over expectations and that is hard to do in this savvy market.
  13. Thank you! ---------------------------------------------- Take 20% off the remaining CGC 9.8
  14. Gary, you should put it in the title - something like "looking for an old picture of me and Steven Tyler at the Chicago Comicon in 1993" as you may get more eyes on it than just a generic title. Good luck!
  15. Hmm, I don't take it as personal. If you're opinion is that CGC has a professional responsibility to "do it right" or not bother, should you not hold your own professional site to that standard? If we're talking apples to apples, my site functions for the user. I'm not aware of any glitches or errors. But more to the point, I'm not hosting a site which is promoted solely for people to interact with each other on nor am I taking advertising dollars to promote it as such. So the site has an obligation to offer service without glitches during that interaction because interacting with each other is ALL this site is for. That's different than having a site to display my wares on IMO.
