  1. I'm not sure if you are aware or not, but we discussed this sort of thing in great detail maybe 12-13 years ago on here. CGC wanted to introduce a Blue label right across the board. It co-incided with their introduction of their in house restoration and removal service. The boards shut it down and it never made it off the ground. Since then, we've had detailed discussions on the topic. Things got pretty heated on here. There was lots of name calling and accusations. I have always felt that labeling color touch (CLEARLY so that nobody can miss it) while putting a book in a blue label would go a long way to helping educate people about books and values while reducing the amount of destruction done to books. The recent change to having Conserved AND Restored labels was a small step in that direction. The main barrier is that too many people don't care what perception is, values are affected or anything else. They only want color touched books clearly segregated into Purple labels and nothing else. It's a great discussion, but nothing is every going to change IMO.
  2. This piece makes Frazetta's cover for Weird Science Fantasy #29, which sold at a record price of $380,000 10 years ago look dismal by comparison, but it was a record price for a piece of original art at the time. And then came the $1MIL cover painting for At The Earth's Core. This is surreal to watch.
  3. I don't think anyone is jealous. And the hate is just tongue in cheek. People who have been here forever have seen so much BS and so many people come and go pulling stuff that they do tend to haze new posters - especially if they feel the poster was just a hit and run (meaning posted a thread and then left)
  4. For eBay in general, no idea. But I'm leaning towards asking customers to just mail checks. Paypal is immediate and convenient but with just a little work, you can adjust to just receiving checks and the savings in percentages is starting to look very attractive again even if it takes a little longer.
  5. You don't have to use the emoticon to bump a post. You can just write 'bump' into a reply and post it and it bumps the thread back to the top of the page. If you want to use an emoticon, just click on the smiling face above this area where you type your post in and scroll through to use the emoticon you want. I'm not sure what you mean by this: You can either edit in a new URL or just post new URLs in replies to your own thread.
  6. These books have been listed elsewhere. Feel free to message me with interest. I'm going to close this thread down. Thanks for looking!
  7. Don't forget that Nigerian Prince that needs $6k for a plane ticket so he can gift you $3 million when he gets to the States. I had a professional writer offer their services to me recently. There were spelling mistakes in the email they sent.
  8. It's amazing how much the market has changed. Just a few years ago I had a 9.0/9.2 raw copy of this book on the boards and I pretty much couldn't give it away. I always thought it was a fantastic, above average cover.

  10. people just roll their eyes when I talk like this. I'm pretty close to just drinking the Kool-Aid like nearly everyone else. Only the ones that don't realize that they are living from one dopamine hit to another and not actually making decisions based on factors outside of that rush. I'm convinced that the majority doesn't realize it.
  11. You know, thinking about this a little more, I think the elimination of words on the covers of comics has a lot to do with the push to move comics in a more mature market. You don't see captions on novels, do you? Ironically, what made comic books unique to readers may also be considered too immature nowadays.
  12. The limited real estate thing just means that if you are selling the same item over and over and start a new thread every time, you take up several threads worth of screen space within the first few pages preventing others from using that real estate space. People (at least I do) look several pages deep. I did recheck and realized that you were listing a #1 and a #2 (that all 4 listings were not just the same #1 issue). You can either post a new URL, which will bump the thread or you can edit the URL into the new listing and bump your old thread with a post (such as one of these : ). Anyway, I'm just offering some friendly advice about how things are generally done here. The 'rules' can be found here: While you didn't specifically break rule #4, you are sort of spamming the market place. 4. No spamming. Keep the number of new threads to a reasonable standard per person. If you're exceeding a post per day over time, simply to occupy more screen real estate, it's likely to be considered spamming. Anyway, no hard feelings.
  13. I feel you, but sometimes it's fun to see the look on someone's expression when you tell them you don't do social media. I love being a contrarian. When I tell people I don't have tattoos, use data (well, I didn't have data till about a year ago) on my phone or watch TV they all think I've grown a 3rd head.
  14. Sorry about the pictures. My scanner is not working today. Silver Surfer #14 CGC 9.0 White (this was a CGC 9.4 that was resubmitted, nice looking copy) Asking $300 SOLD!
  15. The world does not make sense anymore.
  16. I know for a fact that CGC is receiving record record amount of mail and processing a mail room takes time. I agree that it would really be nice if the OP kept people up to date (and corrected the title) on progress rather than just post a complaint thread and leave it hanging. But in this day and age stuff like this doesn't matter. I complained about a seller in a Facebook post by asking him to type out the full title and grade of a certified book they had for sale. The seller just had an acronym, issue number and price. The mods scrubbed my comment and left his post up. The world doesn't need to make sense anymore.
  17. On some books I've sent in they have called foxing as stains and hammered the grade. I've even had books that were cracked out and resubbed come back in lower grades. I'm mystified as well on some books.
  18. Physical exercise for sedentary workers is a sentiment that's been pushed since I can remember back in the 80's.
  19. Hey man. Hope you're doing OK. To answer you questions, no and yes.
  20. It brings about an interesting dichotomy because CBCS no longer accepts Sig Series books which are handled in sealed bags but offers a service of grading books and sealing them in bags.
