  1. I've watched this for the upteenth time (not that many times but I don't remember the exact number) and it seems to draw me in more with each viewing. Just a spectacular film that I think is among the best that DC has put out (along with Dark Knight rivaling it). I think the movie was far better than it's gross would suggest at the box office. It had Nolan's finger tips all over it and should have been the blueprint to build the rest of the DC universe on. Supe's portrayal was majestic. The music fit the movie well. The action scenes were well done. The entire Krypton backstory was well done. Sure, there were a few holes but over all I think it was an A+ movie.
  2. Oh spare me, despite your obvious attempt to conflate issues (as you so often do), you've never once proven anything. And the reason why you never have is becaus A) it is impossible to either quantify or prove, and B) It is in fact demonstrably false and easily disproven, as I have time and again with countless links that handily dispute your patently false and absurd premise. It's been proven over decades of collectors and literally 1000's of sales. You are literally the only one who disagrees. That in and of itself is telling, but not conclusive. But the proof is in the pudding. Two identical books, side by side, with all other things being equal, the one with the nicer page quality will almost always (mostly) sell for more. Nobody is saying it happens every time.
  3. Just stating a staple has 'rust' is not enough to tell me about a book. A book can be in the NM range if a small amount of rust on a staple. A lot of rust can take a book down into Fine range. As always it's not just what the defect is but how big, and how deep and how long and how wide and how much it affects the book.
  4. Shipping: Certified books, shipping is included within North America, ROW we split it. Raw books, include $10 for shipping within North America. ROW I will split with interested parties. Who wins: Time stamp seals the deal as to who wins regardless of the form of communication (including PM, in the thread, text or phone conversation). A negotiation is not a deal until both sides have agreed on terms. If there is an unconditional posted (or communicated) it will trump all negotiations unless we have already both agreed to terms before the was posted. In that case, the will have been in vain. Except that it will give you street cred and look cool to passers by. No House Of Shame or Probationary members or any others of ill repute. Returns: I am considered a very good grader among my peers ( Here is a link to my kudos thread ) but since even CGC is inconsistent I will not guarantee a CGC grade. I will guarantee to be within one grade increment in either direction - so if I am calling the book a 9.4 it could go 9.2 or 9.6. If it falls outside of those parameters (and it does happen that they go in both directions), I will offer a refund. But I don't expect anyone to complain if I undergraded it. I will accept returns if item is otherwise not as described. Consider all books pressed. Payment: Paypal, bank wire, check or MO.
  5. The cause is unequivocally the inner liner touching the outer shell.
  6. If you're going to list a HOS member, don't you think you should be listing all of them? Otherwise your post just looks like you're trolling someone. And honestly, I don't even think it belongs in this thread. It's just meant to stir the pot.
  7. True Story ………. our cat, Spooky, was pregnant and her water broke while she was laying on my high grade ASM 20 ….. luckily it was slabbed. So you're saying your cat had a single issue.
  8. Now that is funny. Do you see what you did there? No, what? We're talking about comics being safe from animals. But your cats have never had any [comic] issues. So your cat doesn't collect comics.
  9. Now that is funny. Do you see what you did there? I'm not interested in arguing. If you're seriously going to sit there and say that a bagged and boarded comic is equally as safe as a CGC-graded comic, then we have no business having a conversation. Good day. Welcome to the internet. I've been collecting since 1975 and I'm trying to bring a balanced discussion to the table. The myth that comics are only safe in a certified holder is just that, a myth. One problem with hard plastic holders is that when they reach a certain bending point, they snap. A bag and board (or Mylar / Fullback as I always use) will just bend. So depending on how far the book is trying to bend, a snapping plastic case can do far more damage than just bending a bag and board. And that's why I contend that the environment is what matters most. Translation: Relax, Francis.
  10. Apologies if this has been addressed already in this thread, or in the other NR thread over in the Gold forum, but has it been determined what is causing these scratches? Is this something that has been noticed on just recent subs and/or reholders? (or are older versions of slabs - 1 year + - exhibiting this scratch effect also?) I have been noticing an increasing number of scratches as well. And when you scan the book, certain scanners catch the scratches and make it look horrible. I've been using the same scanner for years but the scratches are more recent.
  11. It's safer in a hard plastic case, though. For a lot of people, it's not just a piece of history, but also an investment. I have 2 cats, so you can bet that there is no way I'm displaying any comics in just board and mylar at my place lol. If you have animals in the house they are not necessarily 'safer' in the open just because they are slabbed. What if the cat knocks the book off a shelf and the book gets damaged on impact inside the slab? It happens...whereas it's less likely to get damaged in a good Mylite / Mylar / Fullback package the way I stored my personal collection. My son stepped on one of my top books in my collection years ago. It was in a Mylite, Mylar and with a fullback behind it. Nothing happened to the book. If it was in a slab, it would have broken in half and likely damaged the book. Comics are only as safe as their environment, regardless of how you package them. The proof is that many ultra high grade pedigree finds have spanned decades without bags or boards.
  12. Well you can't berate them or you will get moderated. Guess I should have explained that. I would say that berating them is probably not the right course of action. Now, if they are posting in a thread related to selling and / or buying then it should be OK to warn the OP that they are a HOS shame member as that is the entire point of the system. To bring awareness to the community of any potential shady practices. But berating people all the time? Not cool IMO.
  13. Yes. Without question. I also bump into a hundred kids a day who wear T-shirts of bands they've never listened to.
  14. I want to reinforce something I've said in the past. 1st, when I said carriers in my previous post, I meant the carrier companies not the personal carriers themselves. I've long since held the belief that being a carrier is a tough job and I've respected the heck out of those who carry mail and parcels day in and day out. I also understand about the pressures that large corporations put on their employees and respect that it's often an impossible situation. I've been there. If you what are saying is actually the way it is, some boardroom somewhere decided that it would be a good idea to label all packages as delivered to look good on paper and to the shareholders and something like that always backfires in the long run.
  15. Wait, you tricked me. Yes, because I suck. Pay attention. I think I need some adoration from 'Fingh to boost my self esteem now since you're not cutting it. I look forward to Fingh’s “adoration”. Also, you suck too. Wait, so if you suck and you tell me I suck does that mean that I actually don't suck?
  16. Bedrock started a thread a couple of years ago when he was protesting the new CGC holder and I think he cracked out high 6 figures in books out of slabs and posted pics. When I owned them, I cracked out most of my personal collection so that I could look at the books.
