  2. Part of me wouldn't be surprised if the book sold via PM on condition of a pic already. $9k on that book right now seems like a great deal. Hope it sells soon so I can stop running cost/benefit and risk analyses in my head when comparing to traditional investments. :P Sorry gang. The book was graded last week by CGC and I am on the road and waiting on scans from CGC. The scans should have been here by now but CGC seems to be running late with mailing out images. And someone actually just purchased the book sight unseen.
  3. This guy could be switching books out of holders or someone might just be using them to fence switched books. Has anyone notified CGC of this? They may be able to take legal recourse here. @Brittany M. @Scott =)
  4. I don't think it's the heat so much as it is the humidity. I could see a little extra humidity (which is not harmful to the comic at all) increasing the affinity between the two layers causing an increase in Newton ring effect. Not enough to count as scientific evidence but it is an interesting thought.
  5. I saw Brit in Baltimore for the 1st time 2 weeks ago since her accident. Everyone was happy to see her. She was in great spirits and happy to be back on the circuit and working. Great to have you back, fellow Virgo!
  6. Texted with Rick a bit and he said it was OK to update everyone. 1st off, family is all safe. I asked if they had food and water and they said Bridget's sister came down with food and water so they have that for now. He has no wifi and limited cell reception. No messaging ability at all. Just texting. Their home and store were destroyed. He said that his collection should be OK as it was covered and tarped up. Right now he said they are 'in the dark and sweating'. Now they have months and months of rebuilding to look forward to.
  7. I don't think being able to shop elsewhere was the issue. The issue was two shows, a week apart and only 2 hours apart. Overkill.
  8. I thought there was but I can't seem to find it. It's not the thread about GPA and 2nd chance offers not being recorded. Anybody remember it?
  9. More than half what I paid for my DD #1 9.4. The last major obstacle to completing my 9.4 run (#1-109). Nice book!
  10. *THIS BOOK HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM IT'S CGC HOLDER - COMES WITH CGC GRADING LABEL* Detective Comics #441 CGC 9.6 OWW Asking $300 - shipping included
  11. *THIS BOOK HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM IT'S CGC HOLDER - COMES WITH CGC GRADING LABEL* Batman #257 CGC 9.6 White pages Asking $300 - shipping included
  12. Shipping: Certified books, shipping is included FREE within North America, ROW we split it. Raw books, include $10 for shipping within North America. ROW I will split with interested parties. Who wins: Time stamp seals the deal as to who wins regardless of the form of communication (including PM, in the thread, text or phone conversation). A negotiation is not a deal until both sides have agreed on terms. If there is an unconditional posted (or communicated) it will trump all negotiations unless we have already both agreed to terms before the was posted. In that case, the will have been in vain. Except that it will give you street cred and look cool to passers by. No House Of Shame or Probationary members or any others of ill repute. Returns: I am considered a very good grader among my peers ( Here is a link to my kudos thread ) but since even CGC is inconsistent I will not guarantee a CGC grade. I will guarantee to be within one grade increment in either direction - so if I am calling the book a 9.4 it could go 9.2 or 9.6. If it falls outside of those parameters (and it does happen that they go in both directions), I will offer a refund. But I don't expect anyone to complain if I undergraded it. I will accept returns if item is otherwise not as described. Consider all books pressed. Payment: Paypal, bank wire, check or MO.
  13. Rick hasn't checked in yet today and I don't want to bother him on his phone. Let us know when you get a chance how you made it through the night.
  14. It would be interesting to note which dealers said what about NYC? Remember that MANY of these dealers were in Baltimore just a few days prior and so would have moved a lot of inventory there as well as depleted some inventory. You also would have had many NYC buyers travel to Baltimore the week before and maybe avoid the business and expense of the NYC whereas other years they may have gone to both shows to shop if they were further apart like that have been in previous years. It really is a disadvantage to have two shows, 2 hours apart on consecutive weeks.
  15. I've noticed an increasing number of scratches when scanning books. The scratches are not visible to the naked eye at arm's length but when scanned the scanner light causes artifact that makes the slab look scratched (worse than it actually is in hand). It's possible that they are lightly scoring the interior of the well where the inner liner meets the outer shell in an effort to allow air to get between the two and prevent them from sticking and creating that Newton effect. That's just a wild guess, though.
  16. I'd be most curious to know if the price was over written or reprinted.
