  1. There are two camps coming from two philosophical backgrounds. There are those that are literal and looking for a literal reference. There are those that feel that the spirit of the team is enough to call them a team. I would wager that all the people in this discussion fall into one of the two groups. I am still OK with calling #54 a 1st team appearance even if they aren't named as such by the editors. You're missing my point, but it's OK. Also, it's worth disclosing that I have no vested interest in the discussion. I even own a #60 but not a #54. Doesn't change the fact that I feel #54 is the bigger book. I do love the black cover to #60 though.
  2. I agree along these lines as well. It's one thing for an editorial team to make the statement and it's entirely something different for the team to exist without even being named but in the spirit of things the TT were first formed in #54 IMO. Even though BB was a tryout series, even though there were many teams that have come and gone, even though WG was not a part of the team, even though they are 'officially named' in BB #60 that still doesn't change the fact that the team's 1st get together and appearance was in #54. You have to understand that in comics, nothing was a given. X-men #1 could have been cancelled after several issues like the Hulk was. Everything was a tryout in the SA. Editors were throwing things against the wall hoping that some of the stuff would stick. Thankfully for us as collectors, many things did stick. But we can't look back and rewrite history in the sense that it makes editors look like they had a preconceived plan. They didn't.
  3. I still lean towards 54 as well and can also see the argument for 60 - but I'm not a legalistic person. It doesn't need to be spelled out for me. The spirit of something is enough and in this case to me they are the Teen Titans even though they weren't name as such. I believe that was it. Can someone post a picture of that blurb as I don't remember what it was....
  4. It wasn't that simple. There was something that referenced #54 as being the 1st time and 60 the 2nd. I'll try to find it when I have some time.
  5. Nope. No team. No name. Most non-appearance first appearance I've ever seen. I remember having this discussion in the 1st Teen Titans app thread. I just can't remember where it appeared. I don't know if it was in BB #54 that somewhere they were called that (at the end of the story or on the editor's page) or in BB #60 there was a reference made to them being together 'again' but there was something we discussed. At the time I had a copy of both books raw so that I could check. I no longer do.
  6. Isn't the name used at the end part of the story in BB #54? Just going from memory.
  7. Impossible to tell from a scan how much ink is actually missing.
  8. Was thinking the same Is the color loss actually on the book or just scanner artifact? Heritage books often have this sort of scanner artifact on the edges of their books. I did not see the crease on the bottom right (it's barely visible even when I blow it up large) so it's impossible to tell how much color it breaks. If the crease is still there then I agree that it doesn't look like a 9.2.
  9. I know people like to believe this but CGC has swung between loose and tight grading since it's opened it's doors. If I'm not mistaken, the CT or glue on a blue label is treated as a defect, and yes it is factored into the grade.
  10. The DD show did start slow and then begin to pick up.It got better as time went along while others didn't. And it seemed to be filmed with a lot of Milleresque references so if you were a DD Miller fan back in the day it was even more enjoyable.
  11. I felt the same way about JJ (and TWD). It started great and then lost it's charm. I haven't watched Luke Cage because ohow JJ went. The only Marvel TV series I've enjoyed AND thought was very well done was Daredevil. I thought they nailed DD.
  12. Yup. There was a TV show made. It's horrifically bad. It's a disappointment. The Inumans were one of my favorite Marvel franchises and they bombed it. Our local theater had a showing of Episodes 1 and 2 as a full length movie and I won't be watching the rest. I should qualify that it's equal to most of the other TV shows on TV (Gotham season one lost me quickly) in that most are really bad, and very few reach a level of quality like shows I've come to really enjoy (Saul and Breaking Bad to name two).
  13. Thank you! Tales To Astonish #64 CGC 9.4 and Marvel Super-Heroes #12 CGC 8.0 have both SOLD!
  14. Going Steady #10 low range VGish copy but cover fully detached at both staples (front and rear covers are attached to each other and not split). Classic and highly sought after Baker cover. Asking $300
  15. Marvel Super-Heroes #12 CGC 8.0 OWW - Stunning copy. I thought it was going to grade in the NM range. Asking $200 SOLD!
  16. Green Lantern #4 CGC 8.5 COW - Front cover looks 9.4/9.6 - back cover chip keeps the grade down. Asking $600
  17. Shipping: Certified books, shipping is included within North America, ROW we split it. Raw books, include $10 for shipping within North America. ROW I will split with interested parties. Who wins: Time stamp seals the deal as to who wins regardless of the form of communication (including PM, in the thread, text or phone conversation). A negotiation is not a deal until both sides have agreed on terms. If there is an unconditional posted (or communicated) it will trump all negotiations unless we have already both agreed to terms before the was posted. In that case, the will have been in vain. Except that it will give you street cred and look cool to passers by. No House Of Shame or Probationary members or any others of ill repute. Returns: I am considered a very good grader among my peers ( Here is a link to my kudos thread ) but since even CGC is inconsistent I will not guarantee a CGC grade. I will guarantee to be within one grade increment in either direction - so if I am calling the book a 9.4 it could go 9.2 or 9.6. If it falls outside of those parameters (and it does happen that they go in both directions), I will offer a refund. But I don't expect anyone to complain if I undergraded it. I will accept returns if item is otherwise not as described. Consider all books pressed. Payment: Paypal, bank wire, check or MO.
