Based on your statements I'd bet the house that you've submitted less than me, and I know that namisgr and Bomber-Bob have been doing this for longer than I have as I took a decade off (and they have a few years on me). It's better to quite while you're ahead.

Correct. Meaning foxing doesn't deteriorate it...but tanning does and this is where you are contradicting yourself. This was your exact quote: 1)Edge tanning can also be caused by sun/dust shadows and even foxing at times, none of which has any affect on paper suppleness (ie "page quality"). You said edge tanning can be caused by Foxing. Foxing and edge tanning are two different things. Foxing doesn't cause a degradation on paper quality. Tanning does. In my experience foxed books have terrific paper quality (I submit the Larson Pedigree as exhibit A - known for it's awesome page quality and also known for it's foxing). How many comics with foxing have you handled? I've handled thousands. Some of the older times have handled even more than that. As a general rule, if I see foxing I'm assuming page quality is going to be good based in my experiences. Not as much for books with browned paper. You have no idea what you're talking about.

And herein lies the explanation for your blind spot. You don't submit appreciable numbers of comics for encapsulation. Anyone who's had significant numbers of early SA comics graded knows that the interior covers sometimes exhibit tanning halos front and back, and this is typically accompanied by inferior page quality. They also know that CGC downgrades for interior as well as exterior cover edge tanning, with the magnitude of the downgrade depending on the severity of the edge tanning and the numerical grade of the book had it not had the tanning. This is exactly it.

This is incorrect. It's a combination of both. The only time paper quality is called 'brittle' is if it actually is. Then the color of the paper is irrelevant. If it isn't brittle then the color of the paper is designated to my knowledge.

Foxing does not cause edge tanning or sun/ dust shadows. It's nothing like those things. And anyone who has handled a lot of raw books knows that foxing has an effect on paper suppleness. Generally books with foxing have terrific paper quality in my experience.

So you don't believe in CGC's opinion on Page Quality calling it grossly inconsistent. Yet you firmly believe in their opinion on grade. Combine this with your selective 'data' to back your claims and your statements have no credibility. Do you ever notice that when you bring this same silly argument up, you stand alone. Nobody ever backs you. Jaydog always uses words like 'grossly' to try and make his argument sound more true but in my experience of getting books graded they are more accurate than less accurate on PQ.

I've owned several in 9.4, 9.2 and down to the VF range. Haven't owned one in years now.

DD #7 might just win the prize for a SA Marvel with THE MOST production defects on a single book. Ink transfer, Marvel chipping, printing roller marks, bent staples, miswraps, miscuts. Whatever Marvel was doing when this book was printed is a mystery but I've never seen one issue prone to so many defects.

I've rescanned the front and added a back cover scan of the AF #15 for anyone that's interested.

I've always looked at stuff like that as 'normal' and never shied away from it. Miswraps, miscuts, etc. as long as they are not 'ugly' have always been OK with me because they've affected the majorityof books I collected (mainly SA / BA Marvels). I think that now that the books have become extremely expensive, the focus on differentiating between copies has become more prominent.
