  1. Include $10 for shipping raw books within North America. ROW I will split with interested parties. Shipping is free for certified books within North America ROW I will split with interested parties. Who wins: Time stamp seals the deal as to who wins regardless of the form of communication (including PM, in the thread, text or phone conversation). A negotiation is not a deal until both sides have agreed on terms. If there is an unconditional posted (or communicated) it will trump all negotiations unless we have already both agreed to terms before the was posted. In that case, the will have been in vain. Except that it will give you street cred and look cool to passers by. No House Of Shame or Probationary members or any others of ill repute. Returns: I am considered a very good grader among my peers ( Here is a link to my kudos thread ) but since even CGC is inconsistent I will not guarantee a CGC grade. I will guarantee to be within one grade increment in either direction - so if I am calling the book a 9.4 it could go 9.2 or 9.6. If it falls outside of those parameters (and it does happen that they go in both directions), I will offer a refund. But I don't expect anyone to complain if I undergraded it. I will accept returns if item is otherwise not as described. Consider all books pressed. Payment: Paypal, bank wire, check or MO.
  2. As I said, I don't' know the whole story. I only read bits and pieces online. Following Facebook discussions is near impossible to do without losing your mind.
  3. I had an X-men #2 CGC 9.2 in my personal collection years ago that had 5 or 6 spine stresses on the spine. This one seems nicer. It all depends on how the rest of the book looks and feel sin hand. I've seen stronger 9.4 copies but I think 8.5 is a little If it's the same book, this book appeared at a Con a couple of years ago raw. It was pretty white in hand and really nice. You can't blow up pictures to max size and scrutinize the defects and accurately assess the grade because the book is not that size in real life (and nor are the defects). At arms length those defects look very differently than they do magnified on a digital device. To me the book looks like a pretty nice example of a CGC 9.6
  4. The reality is that kids buy tickets to see pop culture and that's anything from Wrestling to Video Games to movies / actors / actresses. Disney is big enough that they pulled Marvel out of San Diego a few years ago. Imagine that. Marvel being pulled out of the biggest former comic show in the country. Disney now puts on their own show in Anaheim the weekend before San Diego and Marvel had a panel there. The smaller comic shows are starting a revival as they are coming back to their roots and featuring comics only vendors. That's not a bad thing.
  5. Probably It was a Superman #233 and one other book. Can't remember right now what it was. Check your records and get back to me.
  6. I seem to remember getting books from you with a backing board in the middle of the book. Was that you?
  7. And, my post is hidden because I used the dreaded word and not Voldy. This is what I wrote: I've read bits and pieces of the discussion and as with all discussions, there is more than one side to it. From what I've gathered the person who initially posted the video (and I assume made it) was someone who had a gripe with Voldy and some people chalked it up to sour grapes. A con will try to game any system when there is money to be scammed from someone. Deal with people you trust and do your homework, especially when spending big money on books.
  8. Fantastic! I think Mr. Pontoon was creating an inside joke. That's the former owner of the Boston Comic Con.
  9. In the new world of corporate boardrooms and the ever escalating need for profits that won't happen. They can get more from corporate sponsors than they can from comic book dealers. Integrity is non-existent in this day and age. All big money cares about is more money.
  10. I would rather have Roy graded books. At least I know what I'm getting, with no hidden surprises. That's a sincere compliment, by the way. Thanks. My kudos thread in case you need it.
  11. +1,000,000 Let's add we will never see a Star Wars and Star Trek again to this exclusive club as well. And it's not because the source material was that good. It was 'that good' because it was a product of an time or an era that will never exist again. You'll never have a '59 Cadillac or a 1986 Porsche 911 Turbo either. Those times are gone. With globalization, the corporate boardroom and automation of everything simply for capitalist gain I doubt we'll ever experience a surge in art forms like we have in the last few hundred years.
  12. No. You also won't see a Led Zeppelin or Beatles again, you won't see Bach or Beethoven again, etc.
  13. One reason is because CGC is not consistent themselves at times and even if you are a 'very good grader' you can end up with an unhappy customer if they don't get the CGC grade they want (and that you advertised) Grading is not a science - everyone grades a little differently - even CGC has changed the way the grade certain defects over the years.
  14. Going from a 9.4 grade by the dealer to an 8.0 grade by CGC is truly unacceptable. This is a well-known dealer? I mean, as @thehumantorch said, anyone can make a mistake or miss something, but overgrading by 4 grades (or 5 grades on a good day) is crazy. If they don't have their grade estimate on the sticker, ask them what they feel the grade is. Ask to see the book and you assess it for yourself. Get a clue about grading before spending decent money with someone. The bottom line is that if you want a CGC grade you need to buy CGC graded books.
  15. This is the first I'm hearing of this. The microchamber paper is so thin I don't see the paper popping the staple. The staple would be more apt to pop from handling or pressure from handling or shipping than just microchamber paper IMO.
  16. The Boston show looked like a smaller Fan Expo Toronto to me. Chevrolet had a booth, Geico had a booth. They're interested in putting on a financially successful multi media pop-culture event. They're not interested in comics, unfortunately. Informa (the people who bought Toronto, Boston and Orlando) are a huge multinational company. I just read up that they have 6500 employees in 43 cities. They're basically putting on a trade show.
  17. Yeah, there's been lots of those over the last few weeks.
  18. The sale is also listed on GPA (Greg told me he was going to report it) so that is the actual sale price on Greg's site.
  19. Strange Tales #89 CGC 7.5 OWW - 1st Fin Fang Foom. Tough book in higher grades and one of the most popular pre hero Atlas comics. It probably would have been the most popular before the rise of Groot in GOTG. This one also has great page quality. If you haven't read the story I'd highly recommend it. It's worth the effort. One of my favorite SA stories period. Asking $4200

  21. I wouldn't let you pay more even if you tried. Thanks for the purchase! I'm also going to pull the SC #22 off the market for now to see where the price goes on that book as it seems to be heating up. I'll honor the last price I posted which was $3000. If anyone still wants it they can message me.
