  1. Wow, isn't that higher than the last reported AF15 9.0 sale? Wow that is a huge sale!! Yes the last AF15 CGC 9.0 sold for 200k a few months back on ComicLink. Yeah, but what would it sell for now? This was about 2 months ago so most likely the same. Voldy 9.0 sold for $230K earlier this year.
  2. Hey guys, the night was a blast. This was only my second time playing onstage with a live band and I'm honored to be a part of it. A HUGE, HUGE, HUGE thank you to everyone who showed up to support us. It was heartwarming to stand onstage and see so many familiar faces in the crowd. As with all live shows the good and the bad make up the magic. I had several people come up to us and say that this was the best comic convention event they've ever been to and it felt great to hear that. Hopefully we can do more in the future. I actually thought I was going to have to get someone else to sing early in the set as after two long, late night practices I wore my voice wore pretty thin but seeing so many friends in the audience really helped pump me up. In a group it's tough to find a common thread so we went through a lot of songs and settled on this set list the night before the show. The good news is that we have a few songs on the back burner! I'll post some video footage when I get home and settled. I had an audio device to record the audio for better quality and was going to sync it with the Go Pro video but for whatever reason, the audio didn't record. Thanks again to everyone.
  3. OK, well 2nd practice is done. Slight change to the set list and after 8 hours of practice over two days my voice is shot. Some of the musicians and employees who were in the studio complex we were practicing in recognized John and they might be coming to the show as well. There was a decent buzz in the con room so hopefully a good turnout. One dealer I spoke to made a reservation for 20 people. Setting up today and hope to see everyone tonight.
  4. Or the book was just graded tight the first time around. Also, who submits the books has no bearing on the book. Impartiality is the fundamental key to certification being successful. Giving a gift to a 'friend' would take down a company's reputation and probably damage the market.
  5. What a book was to me is irrelevant because it could have been a higher grade or a lower grade. It's only what it is now that matters to me. And I buy (and sell) accordingly.
  6. My post wasn't a critique of your grading skills. It was more of a critique of how most people throw out grading opinions (sometimes based on just a front cover scan) and yet have no idea what the book is like in hand.
  7. +1 Personally I think it was originally under graded. 5.5? Should have been 6.0 or 6.5. And now it seems to be over graded. Really? I would say the book looked like a CGC 6.5 and even possibly a CGC 7.0 in that 5.5 holder. You don't know how deep those back cover markings go into the paper and how much they affect the grade. We also don't know if they're still there. Also, everyone is a tight grader from an armchair on the internet. I've seen worse looking 7.5s in a CGC holder. And I have no affiliation with this book. Just stating my opinion because I disagree with some opinions stated.
  8. Just to clarify, the other 7.5 copy I was talking about was not an AF #15 but the grade was what was important to the discussion.
  9. Peewee talked to me when get got the offer. The first thing I did is looked at the HA scans to see if the book was upgradeable and if that was the motivation for the strong offer. My thought was that it wasn't.
  10. I disagree. Based on what I've seen over the years, it's right in the 7.0/7.5 pocket. I just saw another book that didn't look nearly as nice as this copy with a CGC 7.5 grade and it was in an old 1st generation label holder. So much for 'old label goodness'. People are quick to judge a book by a scan but I don't think many people are very good at grading from a scan. You can guess but you don't have the book in hand to make the call.
  11. Loose lips sink Texans! I'm trying hard to figure something out but I don't think we'll have a video recording of this unless I find a solution in the next 24 hours. Audio only may be a possibility. 1st practice is in the bag....
  12. I thought all of them had to agree on grade. OK. Just learned something. Well, it used to be the consensus rules. If 2 grade it 7.5 and 1 grades it 7.0, it gets a 7.5. But this may have changed. I rarely get books graded anymore. I don't think this was ever the case. The finalizer assigns the grade with input from the other two graders but it is still his call. Back when you could find out what each grader assigned you would see it was not a vote. Once I had a book where the first two graders assigned a 9.6 but the finalizer found something and it got a 9.0 . Wow. So why employ 2 Jr's? Save the money and let the finalizer just grade the book. Seriously. It's not 2 juniors and one seniors. It's 1 pre-grader, 1 grader and 1 finalizer. Why do they use more than one grader? So that one person doesn't miss something and also so that there is more impartiality with the grade. It's sort of like the same reason you would use a jury rather than one person to make a decision. And talking about grades from the scan of a book is really just a guess unless you've held the book in hand.
  13. I'm having trouble with finding a suitable recording option. Had a buddy who was going to lend me his Zoom recorder and ge couldn't find it. My tables can record it but the problem is Android software cuts the camera off after an hour so someone would have to restart the camera at the 1 hour mark but I was going to mount it in a high position, making it tough to reach very easily.
  14. Checked out the venue today. Lots of room (both standing and sitting) and good food. Looking forward to the show. Hope most people who are around for the show can make it!
  15. Big thanks to ComicsAndCode for the terrific job he did on the flyer. We went with a 70's / 80's West Hollywood convert flyer vibe. The graphic is John's from one of his FB pages. Hope you like it.
  16. Bis actually won't be playing. That is a change we made in the last two weeks. He's just been too busy to practice. He does play bass. That's pretty cool. I like his artwork He's a hilarious cat to be around in person. You never know what to expect when Simon is around!
  17. Bis actually won't be playing. That is a change we made in the last two weeks. He's just been too busy to practice. He does play bass.
  18. Wow, Delic wanting his name in lights as usual. Don't think we don't catch the subtle name change. I can see it now "New rock singer legend discovered at Comic book show". Agents fighting, movie rights, the red carpet, guest appearances on America's got talent. This is the first I've heard of this name. I actually had a flyer made up with a different band name. Obviously the proper band name was Delic 2099. Just kidding. Someone has their wires crossed. Band name was supposed to be Press (John's idea).
  19. I also don't like music that's too heavy. While S.O.A.D. does have some songs that have some screaming, for the most part their music is melodic but heavy. And they really have an original sound. They bring Middle Eastern flavor to heavy rock. It's a very unique sound. All the songs we're doing will be songs with understandable vocals.
  20. Found one! Thank you ComicsAndCode BTW, show time has changed to 9:15 PM because I need more time to show off my outfits.
  21. I've got another request. Is there a graphic designer with basic skills who wants to help out with making a simple flyer for the show? I have a graphic and just need some basic info placed into a form that can be printed. Again, willing to pay in comics or monetary compensation, your choice. If you're coming to the show, even better! I'll buy you a drink as well, as a show of appreciation! Drop me a PM if interested.
  22. One of my long time guitar heroes. Saw him play last year and he's sharper than ever.
