  1. I've noticed over the last few shows that they have tightened up as well.
  2. Sold through our web site: http://www.mycomicshop.com/search?ItemID=38524805 Wish I'd known it was available.
  3. None were overnight, but you can have all sorts of problems with any sort of delivery method. These are just boxes with bar codes on them. Sometimes they don't get scanned (happens regularly to me even on overnight packages), sometimes they fall between the cracks (either out of a shipping container or between sorting lines, etc). Most eventually get found and sorted. I'd give it at least a couple of weeks before i give up hope and really start to worry.
  4. Well, they do move an enormous number of packages, so there any number of ways it could have been misplaced in one of the facilities it moved through. Seems as if the only thing you can do at this point is to hope for the best and hang in there. My guess is that it will eventually turn up. I've had packages go to Australia by mistake. I've had packages disappear for 3 - 5 months and then reappear. Out of 1000's of shipped packages I think I've only had two disappear in 15 years, and even those disappearances are questionable. They just didn't have tracking so I can't prove where they were. Did you hear back from Fed Ex? It's been a few days now. They should have something for you in the way of info.
  5. Politics ! Notified ! The wall has begun and it's already affecting stuff.
  6. Fed Ex has on noted on their tracking website in large red letters that the DNC and RNC can cause delays. IMO I wouldn't worry too much as it could be nothing. I'd wait until you hear back from Fed Ex with more info before starting to wonder what happened.
  7. 9. Posted this in the WC but in case nobody goes there...
  10. GPA records results from eBay and pretty much all the large auction houses (except Comiclink) Comiclink refused to partner with GPA because they have many new breaking records on sales. My books were sold via Comiclink. One book was sold for over $8K that was nearly 3 times higher than I expected. GPA may be irrelevant. Comiclink may have had great sales that have broken records, but I believe that they refused to partner up with GPA because of their poor record-breaking sales. Yup. This comes up very often. GPA doesn’t include Comiclink sales because Comiclink only wanted to selectively give data – i..e. just the big sales, not all the sales. It played out right here on the boards. If I'm not mistaken, some of the other sites that currently report don't supply exhaustive data. There are sales from CC and Pedigree that have not appeared on GPA while other sales have.

  12. Slash was my Hallowe'en costume a few years back...I should have gone for David Coverdale instead.
  13. They just toured last year. I know Serj is doing a lot of solo stuff but they haven't separated.
  14. WW Chicago in Rosemont was the perfect venue because the show has a large attendance but the small town feel of Rosemont makes everything accessible and relatively inexpensive. I thought about NYC but space is at a premium at that show and venues are expensive. And the fact that everyone is scattered all over NYC makes it less than ideal. Regardless, we'd all like it to happen. I'll make an announcement when we decide on where it's going to be.
  15. Gang, just wanted to follow up on this in case anyone was actually looking forward to our planned show. We've been trying to get Wizard to make this happen but it seems that from they were unable to follow through with venue / programming / etc and unable to make it happen on their end. Pretty bummed as we were looking forward to it. I've been in close touch with JD on it and we're going to see if we can get it to happen at another show, possibly C2E2 or similar sized venue.
  16. That whole 'light / dark' style of story telling and the 'sketchy art' that became Janson's trademark all came out of that 30+ issue run of DD books. Everything after that until the early 90's just seemed like it was trying to emulate Miller and Janson.
  17. Some people may not like Miller but he was heavily responsible for changing comic book story telling and art in comics in the 1980's. After his early run on Daredevil artists and story tellers spent a lot of effort trying to mimic Miller afterward. Much of the mid to late 80's art was very much trying to emulate Miller's success.
  18. Did you never ever read his early DD stuff? How old are you? I read it as it was coming out and it was considered awesome as it was coming out. Big ol 39 today. No I haven't seen much of his early stuff, most of his later stuff, so my opinion is completely not on mark, as Ben has stated. I never liked DD His work was so powerful on DD that he revolutionized the character and affected him for decades after. Not only as an artist but later as a story writer.
  19. Wood is right up there as a master story teller. They are use light / dark contrast for effect in such a successful way. They're like the Caravaggios of the comic book world.
  20. Did you never ever read his early DD stuff? How old are you? I read it as it was coming out and it was considered awesome as it was coming out.
  21. I don't care for some of Miller's later stuff. His earlier stuff was groundbreaking, in my opinion, especially in terms of storytelling. I tend to like comic book artists who understand that comic art is about storytelling and is a sequential art form, and is not solely dependent on the ability to draw neat looking pictures. Miller draws very heavily on Eisner. The more mature I get as a collector the more I realize this. Both are masters at contorting the page to entertain the viewer.
