  1. Has anyone noticed yet that Matt Murdock is a dead ringer for Jimmy Linguini?
  2. Does Feige have his hand in this stuff too or is this a different department? I do have to agree, the show has been killer so far. As so many others have stated, they nailed the feel that DD needs. I hope the streak continues.
  3. No but I think he should at least have a Sunday suit that pays homage to the comic book version.
  4. So if they used a Sean Connery silhouette montage in a Daniel Craig Bond flick, that would be the same thing? Guys, I get it. I just disagree with it.
  5. It may not be a sequel but if it's a shared universe there are going to have to be crossover elements (which I would expect would be self evident upon watching the new movie).
  6. I don't. Again, I understand the purpose of why they would give him some body armor in his costume. You guys are making it sound like it's lost on me. It isn't. I was one of the 1st guys that argued on here years ago that changes of costume were OK for the movies because comic strip costumes weren't practical. I just find it contradictory to use one costume in the starting credits and another in the show. To me that's no different than a comic cover with a scene that never happens in the story. I've always hated that sort of thing because it's misleading and not authentic.
  7. That's not really my point though, is it? If he's not going to look like that in the show they shouldn't be showing him look like that in the intro, and that's all I mean by my post.
  8. I agree - a little too much verbage (and overacting ).
  9. Which is like the classic comic costume. And has no padding. The padding is more realistic and in line with the frequent injuries they show him sustaining in the television series. I understand the reason for the padding (and that's probably the same reason the Affleck show uses a helmet and leather suit, Cap's suit has been updated and Batman's suit is more realistic), but then they shouldn't show the costume like that in the opening sequence. It's probably a miscommunication between departments but it's also false advertising and takes away from the authenticity of the show for me. Unless of course his costume comes to look like that eventually.
  10. I like the Affleck movie. That's only because it had a soundtrack by Creed. Actually, it was the Evanescence that blew me away. This film is nearly 13 years old now. For a 2003 movie it wasn't half bad (I watched it several times too). And I still think that Daredevil's costume in the Netflix series should resemble that of the opening sequence.
  11. They'd have to do it before they introduced ANY supporting characters. No Alicia Masters or anybody else you want to keep constant until they did the time shift. I realize the 1961 theme is a bit self serving and not realistic but with the proper writing it could still be done as a 'fill in the blanks' movie with the FF discovering Subby, etc. I realize it will never happen but when the idea popped into my head I immediately thought 'Mad Men' and saw it as a neat idea.
  12. the fights in DD are breath taking, just as Kevin Smith says. Very well choreographed, executed, easy to follow. Straight out of Bronze Age Daredevil issues in the 1970's. Just awesome.
  13. I don't remember people loving Groot after the trailers. It wasn't until you got a full feel for him from the film. Except the paradigm has changed. Marvel stole Fox's thunder with their monster / hero. I'm just speaking from what my gut tells me, FF doesn't really pull me in the way GOTG did - and I hated GOTG when it was being published back in the 1970's. They're very obviously aiming for a younger audience with this FF movie. They may not even characterize the Thing properly in this flick. I guess we'll see.
  14. Why? His appearance was the only part of the teaser that impressed me. He looks lifeless, a sort of blank stare.... the Thing has to project warmth. he isn't just a pile of organized rocks. Yup. You know how everyone loves Groot? That's how everyone needs to feel about Thing. I don't think they hit it on the head with his face.
  15. One of my biggest fears for BvS hasn't been mentioned yet: Overplaying their hand. Talking with a non-comic friend about Netflix/Daredevil he brought it up without promting.... "You know what I hate? If I'm going to pay my money I want to see heroes beat bad guys. Not fight each other. With all the villians in comics why can't they write something better? Fighting each other is all they can think of? I hate that." It kind of gave me mindspins. Fanboys love 'who can beat who' smackdowns. But I get it. He's paying for escapism from a hyper-divisive world and wants to see good triump over evil. Not more divisiveness and in-fighting. So there it is. If they overplay the BvS element too long, too intense, it might cause a surprise reaction from audiences. It's releasing in an election year and tv's are going to be pumping out someone-vs-someone crud non-stop. Bickering tolerance levels might be very low. Good guys going to blows might be the last thing people want more of. Thoughts? While the M o S battle scene with Zod was huge and destructive, it's obvious now that DC was building a platform for this movie. Personally, I thought the battle scene was awesome and I enjoyed the movie more on a second watching than I did the first time around. I think they are going to set the movie up well - Dc seem to have slowed down their pacing enough to build a story but not too much so as to overdo it. I'm pretty confident that with both Affleck and Nolan involved that they'll get this right. Both are VERY, VERY good story tellers. People can talk all the hate they want about Affleck but he's an awesome movie maker.
  16. I have mixed feelings. I agree that Reed shouldn't look like a red-cheeked 15 year old. Thing does NOT look good. Another flub on their part IMO. The Thing has the ability to be a likeable character like he was in the SA/BA and CA where he was this softhearted monster but a large part of that was that he actually looked somewhat handsome / cute in a monster kind of way. Marvel nailed that with Groot in GOTG - Groot was their Thing replacement. I think they missed the boat on this character based on the way he looks. The whole Johnny being black thing doesn't bother me but I just have 40 years of Johnny and Sue being blonde siblings for me to easily forget about it. The Negative Zone angle is neat and original and a lot more believable but I have to ask, if Marvel could do a 1940's time piece about Captain America, why on earth couldn't someone after all of these FF movies do a 1961 time piece for the FF Origin? You get the set / costume guys from Mad Men and you just kill it with an authentic movie about the FF. I don't know yet if I'm going to avoid this movie like the Ghost Rider flicks or not but it's not instilling any confidence in me.
  17. Yeah, at this point I prefer the way Affleck's DD costume looked to this one. I hope they fix that, otherwise the mask they show in the intro is meaningless.
  18. I realize that. Still...get some glasses, Roy. Personally, I think most of the women guys here find attractive aren't. Maybe some taste is in order for some of you guys? Well Chip likes Karen Page from Daredevil... You don't think Woll is attractive? Wow. Nope.
  19. He seemed to fit better into the dark, crime underworld of DD's Hell's kitchen during the late 1970's and early 1980's than he did in ASM. Frank Miller did a great job of making Kingpin both powerful and vulnerable at the same time. And the way he wove together Ben Ulrich, Bullseye, the Hand, the Punisher, - it was all woven together really well. In ASM I saw the Kingpin as some big, tough Al Capone character who often fought Spidey hand to hand. With DD it was more about the Kingpin using his power through other channels. I couldn't see Kingpin as an ASM character any longer after I real Miller's DD. +1,000 Kevin Smith nailed it. This is Serpico all over again - dark, gritty and cohesive. Because it's commercial free they are able to build a very smooth, cohesive 1 hour show.
  20. I've watched the first 2 episodes and thought they were well done so far. I think there is a bit of over acting. I'm a huge fan of this being set in a true New York setting as we hang out in Hell's kitchen whenever we're there so I'm hooked on just that angle of it. I love the black suit and I like where they are going with this. I think there is a bit of over-acting going on (especially Foggy) but I'm willing to overlook it as I get used to the characters. Looking forward to the rest with anticipation!

  22. That too. Used to tick me off at 4AM when I wanted to make a post and my computer would freeze. In the early days it would actually go down for an entire hour, I think - from 3 AM to 4 AM IIRC.
