  1. I'm more interested in Suicide Squad than Harley... So explain to me what's appealing about the Suicide Squad because right now I have no point of reference. Ostrander wrote an excellent run on the team in the 80's. You basically get to root for the bad guys as extreme anti-heroes. OK, now that I can understand. (thumbs u

  3. There is no 'acceptable minimum' for everyone. Some people care, some people don't. Everyone is different. Some people just want a copy of the book and some people want a White page copy of the book.
  4. I don't have much interest in this movie but my hometown...
  5. Hmmm.. I think it is safe to say... EVERY SUPERHERO book just continues to amaze me now in regards to prices! Naw, just the ones that have movies in production.
  6. So there aren't actually any Suicide Squad fans? This is all about Harley Quinn?
  7. Can someone explain to me in layman's terms why they would choose to do a Suicide Squad movie? I have no idea what the SS is except for an obsolete arc from DC's Silver Age. Keep in mind I haven't really read much in the way of moderns since the early 1990's except for a few story arcs here and there.
  8. The movie is definitely not for everyone but I'll side with this movie becoming a cult classic soon enough. Yes there was no real depth to the plot but it was visually stunning like avatar, the action keeps you on the edge of your seat and what I liked most of all was that it felt like it was true to the 1980's films - everything was reinvented to make it more contemporary and yet it still stayed faithful and true in feel to the 1st 3 films. And the shaking of the camera during some scenes, which was so classic in those early films fit in beautifully here. In fact, if I hadn't gone back and rewatched those early films recently you could almost swear that this film was made decades ago, just after the 1st three, it seemed to fit in so well. Loved it. It's well deserving of it's high RT rating IMO.
  9. I've had plenty of 10-15 second delays today. My computer just parks itself.
  10. I gave him a strike. Totally justified. The forum slows down for me every time Park is online.
  11. Personally, I like #29 just as much as #31.
  12. They're not straps. They're kind of like motocross pants with knee pads built in.
  13. I was just going to write a thread about setting up at a show...
  14. Action Comics #7 CGC 1.8 SB just listed in the Marketplace.
  15. Noticed something interesting when they announced the "Superman Lives" documentary last year... If you go back and look at the timeline, his collecting entry/exit actually corresponds pretty closely with him being cast as Superman and some years later the announcement that the movie had fallen through. Though little doubt the theft was the most significant factor. Stephen's account of that situation from about a decade ago here on the boards is still one of my all-time favorite posts here. The IRS stuff came much later. I believe these are the posts? http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1510074&fpart=1 Thanks for the link. I assume his Action 1 and Detective 27 haven't turned up. The Action #1 turned up a few years ago as the first 9.0 (COW pages) and CC/Metro auctioned it off. There were several discussions about the discovery, who owned the book (insurance or Cage) etc I think the consensus was that Cage owned the book after discovery. Don't think the #27 or the missing MMC book ever turned up again. I have the frame he built for the Action 1 I have the same frame. How do you know yours was for the Action #1? Mine came with a fortress BTW.
  16. Yes. And as long as you don't wait for another buyer to come and take the book (stringing the first guy along) or communicate with the person who took the book first that you accept their taking of the book (waiver of your own stated terms) and then reject them in favor of someone else you are A-OK. Beat me to it. IMO it's still an unfair move IMO if the newbie buyer is at least not given the opportunity to follow through with the transaction, though. It may be unfair, but if the seller is upfront about it, he's free to do business with whomever he chooses. There are tons of folks on here that state "If you're on my personal list (unpublished) don't bother" or some such statement. So they aren't forced to deal with people they don't like, trust, or want to deal with. And that's fine. I was replying to the instance where some noob was ignored (or however it went - I understand sqeggs may not remember all the details) as the bar was moved.

  18. ...... the main thing, like you said, is clarity in the terms of each seller's listing. To create a scenario that is fair to all buyers, the PM only option needs to be allowed. Privacy should be an option if someone chooses that route. It's the standard at all the auction houses and on eBay, so it's not like the idea is unorthodox. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u I think a reasonable 'fall back' set of rules should be included in the Official forum selling rules if for no other reason, to provide clarification for when someone says 'usual rules apply'. Those rules should include A) timestamp wins B) purchases by PM ok That's my 2 cents. Just those two mandatory rules would eliminate a world of pain. And all selling rules are mandatory. A) seems reasonable, but there was a case here a while back that went something like this (if I'm remembering it accurately): 1. High-dollar book is offered 2. New board member posts 3. Well known dealer then posts 4. Seller sells book to well known dealer This resulted in a fuss and I forget how the situation ended up being resolved, but it seemed to me at the time that the seller ought to be within his rights to do what he did. Where a significant amount of dough is involved, I think it's reasonable to opt for the quick and certain payment from someone you know rather than the chanciness in dealing with someone you don't know and who is new to the community. Rule A would bar a seller from following this course. Basic business contract principles would bar the seller actually. If a seller wants to limit or restrict his buyer pool, he is free to do so in the same way all businesses may in the express terms they lay out at the outset. It's in the moving of the bar after the sale has begun and after a buyer comes to the table meeting all current criteria that you will run into trouble..both here and in the real world. Of course. It's common sense. The rules are made so that neither buyer or seller is discriminated against and that instance sounds like outright discrimination against the buyer unless there was a credible discussion about whether the new buyer was reliable or not.

  20. Yes, and then he got disillusioned when he started slabbing and getting back some PLODS. Of course, his divorce really disillusioned him. That and Scientology and the I.R.S. And the reviews for his movies. There were also the books stolen from his home by friends/acquaintances that I think helped turn him off collecting. In the end, his IRS problems caused him to have to liquidate nearly all his assets, although I'm not sure where he had already sold off his comics by then. Lisa Marie was also part of the equation.
