  1. The seller can stipulate whatever rules he wants in his own sales thread - it's up to you to decide whether you want the book bad enough to abide by those rules  I agree with this, although if you really want to tighten things up then vaillant can just set a high BIN price and treat the thread as a 'Make An Offer' thread rather than calling it an auction and then sell to whomever he pleases without someone getting caught up on the word 'auction' and them assuming it means only dollar value.
  2. The book was definitely worked on prior to being deposited into its new holder. (thumbs u -J. I can confirm that book was dry cleaned, pressed and cover reattached. How was the cover reattached?
  3. This happened to it: http://www.comiclink.com/itemdetail.asp?back=%2Fsearch%2Easp%3Fwhere%3Dsell%26title%3DCaptain%2BAmerica%2B1%26x%3D21%26y%3D1%26ItemType%3DCB&id=1023793 -J. Which old CC 0.5 Blue? There was a fugly one recently but it looks totally different from this book.
  4. Regarding the discussion, I'll have to go back through all the #9 - #13 copies I've owned and check. I was originally thinking of later issues where mis wraps are bad (mid 60's issues circa approx #30 - 60) and some of those are notoriously miswrapped but they don't have the circle to contend with. I still believe where in the print run the book comes from may have something to do with centering.
  5. There are nasty bugs going around on this side of the pond as well. Get well soon!
  6. I have to agree. It would eliminate a large portion of the possibility for deception.
  7. If there were two identical books in the same spot, it's actually quite common for large submitters to submit multiple copies of the same book. That's one possibility.
  8. You would be great on a bomb squad! I once had a teacher tell me nothing is 100%. I took that to heart and hate being wrong at the same time. Honestly, I do believe they are sonically sealed. But I could be wrong.
  9. What did I miss? The thread. You went from post 1 to guilty with a roll of the dice.
  10. I've never had trouble recycling mine. As far as how the outer slab is sealed, I am quite sure it's sonically sealed although I could be wrong.
  11. That is a very pretty copy. Where did Don and Maggie live when they acquired this book?
  12. Gotcha. I was talking about the wrap and you were talking about the way it was cut. (thumbs u
  13. From what I remember, even the notorious mid 1960's issues that are always terribly miswrapped were nicely centered.
  14. ..... perfectly centered 21's are not easy..... and FF 16 GOD BLESS.... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u jimjum I think you had said in your post that perfectly centered FF issue #21's are hard to come by. Do you think that perhaps that book is worth mentioning in the notorious production flaws thread?? .....many '62 and "63 Marvel's are that way..... but in my opinion.... FF 12, 13, and 21 are 3 of the more difficult one's to find with perfect PQ..... but how many have I actually seen to base my opinion on ? Let's say I'd nominate them for a group consensus..... GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u Strangely enough, I think that the during earlier part of the print run of each issue had less production defects than the later copies. These are some original owner books that I picked up a couple of years ago. They came far from the East coast and I can only assume they were printed earlier in the production run as they had to travel further. Nearly every book from the run had perfect centering, even the tough to find issues. #13 is obviously an exception here.
  15. Isn't that what QC is for? Quality control is never perfect. Even if you're a rocket scientist. Sure. But these seem like pretty obvious errors. So now you have easy to spot mistakes happening at multiple levels. Seems like that would be an issue. But we're talking about percentages and after nearly 3 Million graded books, even if the percentages are small you're going to see a decent amount of errors.

  17. I kept trying to place why she seemed so familiar. (thumbs u She reminds me more of Priscilla Presley, from the Naked Gun films. Pervs. I also think that the actor playing Detective Gordon looks a lot like Sean Pertwee / Alfred. Strange to cast two such similar-looking actors in key roles on the same show, especially when they are supposed to be completely unrelated. I noticed that too and thought it was just me. Many of the lead actors have under bites and similar facial appearances. Even Barbara has similarities to Tec Gordon and Alfred.
  18. Smooth transaction, paid on time. No complaints here.
  19. That's awesome Roy. Also, you get bonus points for managing to take a cupcake thread and make it about you. Screw you guys. Just for that you get more pics.
  20. We had a pair of cupcake towers at our wedding. Had to put a wall around 'em to hide them from the kids. Yeah, that's me in denim and leather on the far cake standing next to the bride! Eat 'em and weep!
  21. I assumed that not all newsstands put dates on them. Again, just speculating and you could be right.
  22. I just assumed the newsstand keeper would date each book before putting it up for sale, hence the many different types of stamps and writing.
