  1. GPA scrapes Heritage and eBay and also other sites like Comic Connect (selective) and also takes data from dealers who submit (like Greg Reece, NewForceComics and a few others). Where else, you'll have to ask George.
  2. What RickyBobby did was entirely different. While what that guy did was sneaky (he was selling the book before GPA got the sales data, which they eventually would have), he also was selling a book he hadn't paid for yet. And he ended up not owning the book. It went back to auction. That was the real issue. And the fact that this is the 2nd time PiP went out of his way to say something unnecessary in a sales thread of mine shows that intent to help my sales is probably not the motivation. Except he didn't. Which is why we're here. So the consensus is that if you provide any data, even if it's reasonably comprehensive (which mine was) and not misleading (which mine wasn't) as long as it's not exhaustive people can make comments? That's utterly ridiculous.
  3. If Roy had simply quoted GPA figures and left it at that, I'd think Peter's comment would be threadkrapping. But the addition of "the book keeps going up" opens the door for Peter's comment. Except, I didn't say "the book keeps going up". This is what I wrote: And as most people have commented over the past two months in the General Forum, auction prices for more common books are typically soft this time of year but even if we factor in the Clink price into the 90 day average, we get a 3 book average of $2416, and my asking price is $2450. Hardly deceitful as I was asking well under GPA 90 day average and actually the average of the Clink and GPA sales. But it's the manner in which the information was delivered that is problematic. Where in my listing did I open the door for someone to start a debate about Clink reporting to GPA? to bad comiclink didn't report their 2 recent sales to GPA then. The only reason I can think of is PiP wanted to get his in, for whatever reason.
  4. When I stated what I did about the book increasing value, it was because I was pleasantly surprised that prices had increased for the book on GPA since my sale of the book fell through. There was no intention of misleading anyone. And my inclusion was GPA data was me just trying to be helpful as many people don't subscribe to GPA. And since PiP has twice done something questionable in a sales thread of mine, I don't know what his intentions were but I don't think anybody else would have handled it that way. If it's not a threadcrap is certainly is borderline threadcrap. Anyhow, for future sales I'll be sure to choose my words more carefully. As they say, you can never please everyone.
  5. Relative to everything, GPA is always going to be incomplete. So now having said that, where do you draw the line? If I know that a copy of Brand X # 1 CGC 9.7sold for a percentage of GPA at a dealer's website or another auction house, and I have a copy for sale should that be included? I head an big Marvel key sold this morning really, really cheap. Should that be included when someone is selling the same key on here? Where do you draw the line?
  6. From my point of view, I have no idea what his intentions were but this was the second time he came into a sales thread of mine in the past year and did something I personally wouldn't have done. I think some time in the past year he posted in a thread of mine something along the lines of "You should have sold that book to me when you had my offer on the table." Honestly, what is the point of doing something like that in an active sales thread? I didn't have a choice, did I? I evaluate Comiclink data and other dealer sites if there isn't a very reliable stream of data on GPA but the whole reason I subscribe to GPA is so that I can keep track of sales prices without having to check anywhere else. It's their job to make this data easy to process. And after looking at GPA I thought this book was reasonably accurately represented by GPA data. And to be fair, when I set a sales price I try to take into account trends in either direction and for that reason, if I can help it I don't just use one single data point. I actually check data for surrounding grades as well and since the price (based on averages, not just single points) for 6.5, 7.0 and 7.5 seemed to be on a clear upswing I thought GPA was fair to use. And I used ALL the GPA data going back to 2012. I assumed recent movie attention was responsible for the price increase as the DC shows and movies built momentum in the last few weeks. The real question to me is if GPA is reasonably well populated and fully disclosed, where do you draw that line at spectators introducing price awareness? And if they are allowed to do so, how is that any different than someone walking into as store and shouting out "hey, you can get that cheaper down the street" in the store to potential customers?
  7. It's been a long time since I've posted a book in this thread so how about I make a come back with something special?
  8. That was my raw copy. I had it listed as a 9.0. Personally, I think CGC was tight on that book (and I think they are in a bit of a tight stretch right now over all). Rich has it in hand now. I think he'll agree it's a sharp 8.5
  9. Where's HarveySwick to make a list of all the good and bad scanners.
  10. Exactly like the last time. Did they see the secret pics you have stashed on it of your coworkers in backless chaps?
  11. Why, is this the first time such a thing has happened?
  12. I had a good boardie not get back to me for two weeks. He just didn't log into the boards. I knew he would when he could. All depends on the trust level.
  13. Not really. Generally, if someone is selling something they don't own yet they say that upfront, otherwise it looks dodgy. So you walk down the street and disrespect everyone until they can earn it from you? That's not the way it works. People are generally given respect until they lose it. I don't often agree with Jimmy Linguini but on this one I do, you're not helping yourself.
  14. For people who know how to reasonably grade, whether the book is graded or not (or who it is graded by) doesn't matter much any more. (thumbs u
  15. Yup. He auctioned some stuff off for me a while back. That one was in my personal. Love the dark colours.
  16. It is! His autograph is right under the dude's wrist in the lower center section of the book! Looks familiar...did you get that from me?
  17. Congrats on the Cap #1! And I've hated you for those 7 years.
  18. Personally, I wouldn't take Pedigree sales as an indication of market. Pedigree's market is limited because some people refuse to deal with Doug's past. Personally, after seeing many examples of their books I have no problem with CBCS's grading standards.
  19. I think it was Jimjum that explained it to me the first time. I hadn't realized it before that either.
  20. I'm not guessing. The scans are slightly different but that doesn't account for the colour differences. There is a colour contrast difference between the two books that stems from publishing.
  21. Leroy, I think that book came with two different colour strikes from the publisher. One more blue, one more grey. (thumbs u
  22. I thought the same thing but people seem to like it. I stopped watching it after 5 or 6 episodes. It's got cache because people are interested in seeing the Batman rogue's gallery of characters develop but I think the entire show has just been awful from start to finish. I want to like it - I keep watching hoping that it will get better but it is painfully slow and ham-fisted at times. They should do away with the stupid villain of the week motif and concentrate on Bruce & Alfred. I wanted to like it too but found it almost amateurish. I agree with the villain of the week. It has to go. Probably her reputation for being ruthless...but she's the main reason I watched for as long as I did. She's hot as all get go!
