  1. If DC had half a brain, they'd make a multi sequel movie franchise out of Kingdom Come ala The Hobbit. It would leap frog them into Marvel territory.
  2. David was one of the originators of ridiculous overpricing on everything. I think his sons are pretty market savvy and are a large part of it now.
  3. I absolutely agree that team was not called the Teen Titans until BB 60. No one disputes that. So let me get this straight, Duck. You are admitting BB 60 is the more valuable book. Here you clearly state 60 is the first mention of the Teen Titans. In the above post you concede that there is somewhere between a "majority rule" and a consensus (60-65%) here that believe the 60 is the first appearance. You do realize you can end this all just by posting a panel, right? All it will take is a 30 second scan from the BB 54 showing the Teen Titans in action, heralded and named as a team for the first time. You and I both know you can't produce that. Nobody can. The onus is not on me to prove anything. The evidence here is clearly one-sided. So much so that in spite of the CGC label and in spite of the Overstreet Guide a clear majority of knowledgeable collectors have demonstrated precisely where the Teenage Titans make their debut. The onus is now on you. Of course you can change all that with one 30 second scan. You've had 50+ pages of posting to do it. Actually, if I'm not mistaken, all I think he's saying is that the team was actually named in issue #60. They still appeared for the first time as a team in #54.
  4. Going to list a bunch of raw Pre Code, Pre Hero, Horror, a Baker cover, Post Code and even a nice DC Western all pre 1960. Take a look!
  5. Almost par for what an AF15 in grade goes for I'm sure a large reason for the price would be that the book looks nicer than a 6.0
  6. I sometimes fail to do that. Best practice is to let the sellers know. But I definitely fail sometimes. In fact, a lot of times, it is a week or 10 days before I even open stuff. I rarely do. Also, as a seller I just assume no news (within a reasonable amount of time, say within a few days of when the package should arrive) is good news.
  7. Me too. He doesn't have any facial expressions.
  8. +1 I thought this was going to be at a True Detective level. IMO, you could tell it was going to be a stinker from the first episode. The only way they are going to 'turn it around' for people is to tug on fanboy heart strings and get them involved into the twists and turns of the plot by introducing lots of familiar characters and using a bit of boobage to keep people (mostly the male crowd) drawn in. Basically smoke and mirrors to hide the poor quality. It's a shame, there are some good actors in this but I don't think Penguin alone can pull the show along.
  9. that cinches it for me; you have no deal, cuz the guy wasn't of sound mind. Hey, it could have been worse. It could have been butt hurt!
  10. Seller might be weighing options. I don't mind if someone doesn't get back to me right away. If it's more than a day then I'd probably wonder what's going on.
  11. Does he buy them for resale or to keep? If he makes a living selling books that wouldn't bother me. It would bother me if he was buying to keep them but couldn't afford it.
  12. I'm going to have to heavily disagree with this statement. There are tons of reasons why someone would not be able to come up with one. The lack of one should not be construed as a red flag. Agreed. I had a guy fishing to buy a 6-7 figure book from me but he didn't have the money yet - he just knew it was coming. Lo and behold, he eventually bought one. Not from me though.
  13. I love it when they tell you they can "pay right away", after offering you 70% or 80% of FMV for your hot, key book.
  14. Actually, the amount is usually 20%. And I will be doing that going forward.
  15. Back troubles. No guessing required. And I'm not going to nominate the guy to the PL. I just wonder if I should out him. whether or not the issues are real, I would like to know that going forward should the individual wish to buy and wants to do time payments etc that for them a non refundable deposit would be required. +1 not that I ever have any books that would require time payments etc This was my last reply to the guy. His name is Fan Boy and it was a $2K book we agreed on.
  16. Screw you, Pho. GLWTS (greggy likes watching this mess)
  17. He is indeed Canadian. Maybe that was the problem all along.
  18. Back troubles. No guessing required. And I'm not going to nominate the guy to the PL. I just wonder if I should out him.
  19. So, I heard back from my guy. As expected, he backed out of the deal citing medical issues. I expected some sort of excuse and was actually betting it was going to be medical because it's impossible to prove and forces you to be sympathetic. Now you guys know me, and I'm generally a bleeding heart but I sometimes have a hard time believing someone using 'medical issues' as an excuse when 1) they post on the chat forums the entire time PMs are going unanswered 2) they finally reply after you threaten them with public exposure BTW, I suffer from the same 'medical issues' as this person. Thoughts?
  20. I have no idea who Zombizzy is. It doesn't really matter. That guy has such a raging Pringle Can sized boner for him that he will post anywhere and everywhere. Just go with it. Just go with the Pringle Can boner? OK.
  21. I always wondered how WW could fight in heels. It's realistically impossible.
