  1. This movie is extremely slow by today's movie standards. I wouldn't mind seeing it at the theater, but I don't see my kids wanting to sit through this. Even I fell asleep the last time I saw it on TV. The special effects were ground breaking at the time this movie came out. I appreciate that. But the time the camera focuses on those effects go on forever and ever. Clint Eastwood movies are still slow. It's all about the anticipation though, and 70's movies were like that. I'm looking forward to it!
  2. I think the glare from the scan makes it look worse than it actually is on many books. Probably doesn't look like that in person.
  3. If I'm not mistaken, Clink software prevents low ball bids under a certain percentage so it may not get ANY bids.
  4. In this case she is being molded into a very specific instrument. Falcone probably gets plent of women. This one needs to stand out and get close. The way it was done was innocent, and Falcone is choosing to communicate with the girl rather than the girl approaching him. If it was the girl initiating Falcone would be far more guarded and suspicious knowing his enemies are after him. That she is very attractive is the cherry on top. She's probably being modeled after an old flame of his. That's why her hair colour was changed and specific behavioral patterns were learned. Us men are so easy to play!
  5. Ahem - Newsboy Copy. Correctomundo!

  7. When you compare it to what else is available it looks like a 1980's prime time detective show. I admit that the mythos is cool but the story telling is terrible. Again, I have to ask - balloon killer?
  8. This is a big one for me. It doesn't feel like Gotham. Maybe Nolan spoiled me but this feels more like a cross between small town mainstreet and a few shots of a big cty skyline. Word. The show is trying to find it's identity but it isn't clearly being shown.
  9. Me neither. I've given it 5 episodes (I think) and have wanted it to succeed I just can't help but laugh every time I watch it. Many of the lines are corny, the episodes seem rushed (Balloon guy? Come on!) and naive and I can't stand many of the actors. The entire show plays like a B rate film. My time is valuable and I am very picky about what I watch, not wanting to waste my spare time on something to just pass the time on. If this is what Arrow and Smallville are like then maybe I just have my expectations set too high by AMC shows which were much slower paced and that took an entire season to tell a story and not just one episode. They must be aiming for a younger crowd with this one and I'm just getting old and not clicking with it.
  10. I think they're just trying to show that Fish has no borders and while beautiful, is ruthless. I don't think it's a matter of her being more seductive but rather just show her how to 'use' what she has.
  11. This is the most intelligent response yet... and So judgemental. Almost like what you collect rocks and what others like sucks. This might sound surprising to you, but comics were made for reading and handling, not for collecting in plastic cases. And you can damage a comic in a holder. They are not insufficiently_thoughtful_person proof. Plenty of board members here collect rare, high grade and pedigree comics and they love to handle them in hand without 'protection' and are not afraid of damaging them. All you have to know is how to handle them properly.
  12. I agree 100%! No logical reason. If you want to touch, smell and read... buy a rag to go along with your graded book. The only exception to his rule may be a mega key in a case where you can't afford two copies. On anther note, the argument that CGC graded books don't bring a premium is generally a bunch of . They do in most cases...especially key books. Thanks for calling everyone who cracks their books out illogical. People who crack their books out want the book in the slab, not the slab. Why is that so hard to understand? I crack most of my personal books out because I want to touch them, smell them and see them in person. If I wanted a reprint I'd buy a reprint but I don't want a reprint. I want the real thing, and I enjoy the extra assurance that I get from buying a slabbed book by having it graded and resto checked impartially. And I agree that many books carry premiums within the holder but not all books do. For some books the holder is incidental to the value.
  13. Because people care about the comics inside and not the plastic on the outside.
  14. I think it's a PC angle DC is taking in an effort to try to slow Marvel down.
  15. Agreed. Feige knows how to build a movie franchise. The rest of the companies holding the rights are just ruining the franchises. I'll concede that the last two X-men movies were good but the last ASM stank, and while I was excited to see the other FF movies when they came on the screen they are terrible when compared to what Marvel have been able to do with the Avengers. In all likelihood I won't be seeing the new FF movie or another ASM movie unless there is absolutely nothing else to watch. They need to move these franchises back to Marvel before they are ruined for good and while Marvel can still do something with them.
  16. Want. Hey Roy, That is a recreation I did SOOO long ago, I don't even count it as part of the family of recent recreations. It was a long learning curve on that cover... the text is all done on a acetate overlay, painted image done in gouache. Totally different than what I do now. I love the way it looks. Don't know if it looks as good in person but it looks gorgeous to me.
  17. Wrong place to whine about it. The correct response is "You don't get one." Actually, that one is taken.
  18. Third week of me really wanting to like it. Third week of me not liking it. The actors don't look natural, Gordon has a frozen face with little expression, Bruce Wayne is just hard for me to believe and that "Drop it" line made me and Louise look at each other and roll our eyes. I'll give it a few more shows but count me as the show is moving too fast and not well written.
  19. Posting some terrific books right here, right now.
  20. Sorry, let me clarify. Yes, I agree he's been popular for a long time...consistently popular. I was a big fan when the issue originally hit the shelves. But "blew up"...$400 to $1,000, a new post about NM98 popping up every other day, comparing NM98 to IH 181, etc....all within the past few months. You should have been on this forum 10 years ago. There was 10 Hulk 181 threads a week. People starting making 181 threads just to spite the forum. This is very similar.
  21. There's a club owner in Toronto that I promised a NM 98 to as a gift the next time I see him. I promised to get him a copy 3 months ago. He tells me he's wanted a copy his entire life. I think he's about 35. He no longer actively collects (he holds what he has), he certainly doesn't speculate. He just wants a copy. There's going to be a lot of people like that.
