  1. I had an opportunity to buy that page in Philly (June) this year for $15,000. I hummed and hawed about it and then decided I didn't have a spare $15K to kick into an OA piece at the time.
  2. I smelled the blood and went in for the kill at a much higher price. Happy to nab it at the price I got it at. (thumbs u
  3. I managed to pick up the final book for my Whiz #1-22 run. Well, I might expand that to #26 or #30 but it's a complete run of 1-22 for now. Took almost 4 years but I finally managed to find the right copy in the last Sparkle City auctions.
  4. If I can add, some packages I have shipped from Canada to the US have disappeared for up to 3 months only to magically appear one day. 1 went to Australia by mistake. 1 was probably just lost in the system. 1 was stuck in customs. I also have one book coming from the US to Canada get stuck in customs for 3 weeks. I've only had one instance ever where a package I shipped did not arrive and I did not have tracking so I ate the cost of the book (about $220). We've also read of stories where packages with tracking end up disappearing. Moral of the story is that even though the postal service does a terrific job over all, they deal with 1,000,000's of packages every year and sometimes things happen that are beyond their control. That's what insurance is for. Keep in mind that November and December volume is massive and between the holidays and all the gifts and cards (Thanksgiving and Christmas) being shipped, and workers taking vacation time this will also slow things down in a big way. I'm sure you guys will be able to sort this out amicably. (thumbs u
  5. I'm sure Kevin has a decent art collection as he had a spectacular Journey Into Mystery collection before got into art. He just has a "way with words" on here. This is so true. I've missed out on some absolutely spectacular opportunities to pick up some A tier art pieces (Ditko Spider-man at a fraction of market value) and some personally special pieces (Everett Sub-mariner from Tales To Astonish) simply because I didn't realize what I was looking at was a steal. By the time I realized it was time to dive in, I'd missed the opportunity.
  6. You finally posted something good. Sell me the Frazetta index.
  7. I've had Kevin on ignore for years now simply because he tends to stir trouble with his posts. The reason people say to buy what you love is so that value takes a second place to the actual appreciation of the art itself. Buying for investment is never a sure thing. Buying what you love is.
  8. I'm tempted to flip through all of my DD issues to see if I can spot where the art actually changes now. I'll have to pull them out to do that.
  9. Being a lifelong Miller fan, I had always believed that Miller did cover pencils and interior layouts for #185 - 190 and the interior pencils and complete cover to #191. #184 and earlier interiors were Miller pencils (not just layouts). I can't remember for the life of me why I thought so about the more ambiguously credited issues but I think it was because I thought I had a pretty good eye for spotting Miller's pencils and differentiating from Klaus' pencils at the time and I think that was the way I deduced it. Edit. Just realized that the cover to #190 is also signed by Miller and Janson.
  10. I'm a moderator in my own mind. You didn't happen to be working at his comic shop and sell a book promised to someone else, did you? Nope. Young man, there are hawks and there are doves. And I'm not talking about the Steve Ditko comic heroes. (thumbs u You're the one with the leather pants. What are you trying to say?
  11. This thread has more nut jobs than Squirrel for Hire magazine. And yet you continue to return to it.

  13. Given the track record, I can take a stab at the answer if you need me to. Will it cost me a quarter?
  14. Just so I don't start getting cross examined, I simply went by what others have said in this thread (like the mention of GAtor and alanna by I don't know who). Whether Trey is telling the truth or not, only he knows. (thumbs u
  15. Did he out them? Trey should do everyone a solid and let us know who else is selling PGX slabs on the boards. At this point I think we should step backwards and look at this with a little perspective: Does anyone really want to start looking into past history and perform a witch hunt for previous offences? It wouldn't be much of a witch hunt. Trey has two names of boardies may prefer not to deal with. Then you'll have to ask Trey who they are.
  16. Did he out them? Trey should do everyone a solid and let us know who else is selling PGX slabs on the boards. Yes, because telling the truth is what he's all about. I personally don't think he had the intention to deceive anyone except the mods but I suppose that's going to be up to personal interpretation. It's possible that at some point the hunt and the adherence to rules becomes a negative sum game and trying to make an example of someone is more effort than it's worth. I think that point was reached a long time ago, personally. At this point in time (removing all the banter and fireworks that people used for entertainment over the past 4 or 5 days) the offender has been clearly and decisively punished by the mods and there are no clear rules on how board members should handle this situation in the future should they care to handle it themselves outside of the mod's strikes. Strip away all the BS and this is really what we have left IMO, like it or hate it.
  17. I'm not defending him and I don't see the inconsistency that you are talking about. The discussion progressed over the course of several days, I've already stated that he's broken rules, he's been punished and that the current PL and HOS rules don't clearly have a mechanism on how to deal with this. Because there was some disagreement on how to actually handle the situation, and how the boards want to deal with this in the future is now up for discussion. I've already let the chips fall as of this past weekend. I simply posted the letter because I said I would as soon as I heard back from Trey and got his permission to do so. I figured Trey's apology was worth posting, especially since Trey was under the assumption that he won't be allowed to return.
  18. Whether it makes sense to me or not is really irrelevant in relation to the discussion at hand. GAtor and alanna were named earlier in the thread by other board members. Does anyone think GAtor and alanna should be investigated? I personally don't. Trey is the poster boy and nobody ain't gonna forget it. The guy broke a mod rule and the mods have punished him. The fact that this is still being discussed in such great, fine detail is now making it look like McCarthyism at best. As far as I'm concerned the situation is resolved to the best of it's ability under the current rules and if he can post in a week he can do so himself. If you guys want to create some sort of mechanism to deal with future PGX sellers that's probably the best course of action if you think it's worth the effort. I personally don't but that's just my
  19. Did he out them? Trey should do everyone a solid and let us know who else is selling PGX slabs on the boards. At this point I think we should step backwards and look at this with a little perspective: Does anyone really want to start looking into past history and perform a witch hunt for previous offences? I'm pretty sure if anyone has done it in the past, they won't be doing it moving forward unless it's a noob who doesn't know better or chooses to ignore the rules.
  20. As far as I'm concerned, his email is an apology to the boards. I didn't solicit it or contact him regarding it. He just happened to send it to me for whatever reason. Of course it doesn't necessarily mean that the transaction was successful but that all depends on how the situation unfolds, how either side perceives what is happening to the other party during the transaction and the order of events as they unfold. This instance just happens to be one big mess for several reasons. In a nut shell, that's pretty much what I told him. Like I mentioned earlier today, that is just what Trey conveyed to me. He could be wrong and back here in a week. I don't know why he believes that he's done here.
  21. He knew exactly what he was doing. Sure Trey was wrong and he did know what he was doing. He never denied not knowing the rules. That's why he was given a strike (or a banning). Others are called out when it's noticed. Bio-Rupp was tarred and feathered not long ago for acting like he was selling PGX books. He should have received a strike for it as well. I agree that what he was doing was entrapment and creating a disruption on the boards. There are probably some sellers who have slipped under the radar. Trey mentions that he bought at least 2 PGX books from board members through here. If he bought those books from board members did those sellers get chastised?
  22. I'm taking hormones for that. Do you have a hairy back? Yes, it's a Movemberhawk. It starts on my forehead and works it's way back right down to my tailbone.
  23. I think they have hormones for that too. Bovine if I'm not mistaken.
