  1. It's a combination of things but mostly it's probably the fact that if a Showcase #22 will sell for those prices then a collector might think why not B+B #28?
  2. I've been on eBay since 2003 and have never had a problem until this summer. Since September I have had on NPB on my GSX #1 CGC 9.8, and a bidder who bought 2 books in October to the tune of $2K (DD #6 CGC 9.6 and ASM #44 CGC 9.0) and has paid for one of them ($500 book) this week...nearly 5 weeks late, and still has not paid for the $1500 book. I'm going to put a clause in future auctions that payments are due within 7 days. I've never had a problem, now it's ridiculous.
  3. two words... Canada! You're ejumakaited, are you?
  4. Dear Gator, Why is Cheetah's avatar so sexy? Best, Roy.
  5. probably about fmv...but, it is what it is (thumbs u I thought about bidding on it as well. Just have too many other books in my sights right now...
  6. Ah, you're such a different Pat than you were just a year ago.
  7. I think he paid Hauser a multiple of Overstreet NM at the time. Why are you portraying him as if he's an ingrate who ripped him off? He was paying these multiples at a time when the comics industry was in the tank and was one of a tiny group of people paying prices like that, which is exactly why Hauser went to him first. Nobody knew CGC and the Internet would combine to cause things to explode the way they did. Agreed. Brulato also wasn't made wealthy by the books he purchased. From what I understand he was wealthy before that. I'll go further and say that Brulato is a decent guy in my experience. He's not the most sociable person outwardly but that's a personality quirk and not intentional. He just seems to prefer to keep to himself. Him and I have had some pretty deep conversations about family etc. Don't know why he is being portrayed as a cheap person when he isn't. I'm betting he paid strong money and paid immediately (or close to it) unlike some people who need time payments to pay off large purchases. That in itself is thanks enough, to a dealer like me anyway.
  8. Uh, no. I've never liked the covers for either B&B 28 or GL 1. It pained me to look at my copies. I don't mind the B+B cover so much, even if the concept is intended for children. Something about that grey cover that I find appealing. The prototype Captain America shield at the center of Starro is pretty neat too.
  9. Gang, I have a really nice looking, low grade, unrestored Archie Comics #1 is for sale on eBay in case anybody cares. I've posted a link to the eBay Marketplace post in case some of you do not make it out there. Link to the Marketplace post.
  10. Well, the Curator is for sale because the owner upgraded, the Heritage copy is for sale by a dealer who bought the copy for resale and I'm sure Doug is selling his copy to make a profit as well.
  11. Steve, wow. I had no idea. Just awesome!
  12. Sorry I missed this post. It was not an NYC purchase. The book graded a 6.0, which surprised me but I think CGC has tightened up a touch in the past few weeks.
  13. Didn't see any above VG. I picked up two copies in the past month ath what I thought were decent prices but they were both low grade.
  14. Whether it's a fair price or not is hard to say but I can tell you that B+B #28 was the book that I heard asked for most at Mid Ohio con this past week.
  15. Roy'd again Aye, verily. And this last tale is even more comical and unbelievable than the others. A tale to be told over a tall ale one day.
  16. Dear Gator, If you started an "Ask Gator" thread for yourself would that be the forum equivalent to a spin cycle on my clothing washing machine?
  17. Some idea but not 100% sure yet. I was actually in the process of buying a high grade copy and lost out on it through a strange circumstance. I believe this might be the same book that I was after but haven't been able to confirm it. That's all I'll say about it. I don't think there is any interesting back story to the book.
  18. Big Kudos to Dan. Bought some iron-ons that were quickly shipped. Also bought a really nice JIM #83 that was hand delivered while I was local to him. Top notch seller that is trustworthy. (thumbs u
  19. Very reliable buyer. Thanks, Chris!
  20. Heard about it in NYC. Yup, the seller of the Curator is likely the new owner of the 9.8.
  21. The problem with those listings is that all the books looked very dark and yellow. Even if they may not have been so in hand they looked that way in the pics.
  22. Why is mainstream always thought of as a negative thing? The entire reason something becomes mainstream is because a large group of people find value or appreciation in something. Just because it becomes popular does not necessarily mean that it has lost it's value.
