  1. Uh, Mike Browning isn't the person claiming that it's a recreation (or that he spoke to you at SDCC 2016). Might be a good idea to delete his personal contact info from this thread. Mike
  2. Whenever I've seen Larsen at a con he usually just has a stack of original pages, so whoever took it wouldn't have had to remove it from a portfolio. Although, that being said, it still must've been tough to pull off. I'm always amazed when artists just have a giant stack of original art sitting on their table without any protection. Once I buy something from them I treat it like I'm transporting an original copy of the constitution out of the convention center, and meanwhile they have it just sitting there in a stack next to their meatball sub and grape soda. I remember going through a big pile of David Mack's original covers and calculating in my head that I was handling original art with a retail value easily over $100K. Made me a bit nervous to be honest. Mike
  3. I don't collect commissions, so unfortunately I can only do 2 out of 3. I think there are also only two artists that I have both a cover and an interior page from. Here are a couple of Valiant pieces from CAFU. Imperium #12 Cover Shadowman #12 Page 6 Mike
  4. Yeah, I kept waiting to see them marked as "On Hold" because I kinda thought the same thing. I only mentioned them on here after I decided I didn't need another Perez IG page even if I thought they were under-priced. Mike
  5. Well, Albert just posted a Watchmen page, and a couple of Perez IG pages on his site, and at least for now it's safe to say IG isn't in the Watchmen ballpark quite yet. Mike
  6. Not sure who got it, but it went for $20k. Mike
  7. At this point I’m just happy I was able to get one period, let alone that nice, before this auction. It appears they won’t be getting cheaper for at least a little while. Mike
  8. Well, that's good! Weird it would let you, though. Oh well, if you win I'll just figure out the shipping cost to Canada. Mike
  9. Also, I should add that both of these auctions are closing tomorrow, and they're still very reasonable, so everyone should take a look! Mike
  10. Unfortunately, I didn't have it set up to allow shipping to Canada when I listed the auctions, and it won't let me add that option now. I believe I can add ebay user IDs to an exempt list that would allow a user in Canada to still bid. PM me if you're interested. I'd have to figure out the shipping cost to Canada, but that shouldn't be too tough. I realize it's not the best solution, but I think it's pretty much the only way to do it at this point. Mike
  11. I've got a couple of auctions up on ebay this week for Valiant original art. Both start at 99 cents with no reserve, so this is your chance to get a good deal. First up is Adam Gorham's original cover art for Faith #3: https://www.ebay.com/itm/183324629226 Next is Carmen Carnero's original cover art (separate pencils and inks) for Divinity II #3: https://www.ebay.com/itm/183324633334 Please take a look and bid! Thanks, Mike
  12. Like others have said, it's tough to pick one favorite. While there are other pieces that have a little more nostalgic value to me, I'd have to say from a purely aesthetic point of view this one would be my favorite: It's four connecting covers by Ryan Sook for Valiant's 4001 A.D. miniseries. Of all the pieces I have up on the wall, it's definitely the one that most jumps out at you. As for my grail, I think I'll pick one that's at least in the realm of possibility for me to acquire at some point. Some of the first comics I remember reading are the Secret Wars books back in the 4th grade. This Zeck cover for #10 really stands out in my memory, so it's one I'd love to have someday. Might have to save up a bit first though. Mike
  13. Thanks. Yeah, I've been a big fan of the Parker series for a while, and I really enjoyed Cooke's versions. It's a shame that we only got four of them. I've only actually seen art floating around for The Outfit and The Score. I wonder if art from the other two books will come out at some point. Mike
  14. Yeah, it may have been something else, or perhaps it wasn't really archival at all. I've thought about having those pages re-framed, but they're not super valuable, so I don't think it's worth it. Also, for the most part the pages I've had custom framed are ones that aren't standard 11x17 size. For pages that are 11x17 I have a few frames that I swap pieces in and out of. For those I do leave the pages in mylars since otherwise they wouldn't be well-protected. I agree that there can be some annoying glare issues with the mylar, but I'd rather deal with that than have a valuable page get damaged. Mike
  15. The first few pages I had framed at my local framer were (I believe) dry mounted in some kind of "archival"-ish way, but to be honest I didn't really know enough about the process, so who the hell knows. The framer assured me that the process could be undone without harming the art. To their credit, when I had them remove one of the pages from the frame a few years later it came out without any visible damage. The back of the board did feel a little rougher than usual, but to be fair I can't say for sure it didn't start out that way. Other than that you wouldn't know anything had been done to it. That being said, after those first few pages I've gone with hinges so I don't have to worry about it. I'd say that $300 figure sounds about right for an 11x17 page with museum glass. One thing I did do intentionally, knowing that it will cause issues in the long run was have this Parker page by Darwyn Cooke matted so that handwritten title appears in a cut-out in the matte: Yeah, I know it will probably cause the page to fade unevenly, but I liked the way it looked, and it's not in direct sunlight, so hopefully it won't be too bad. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to hold onto it forever to avoid any problems when it's time to sell. Mike
  16. Me too, but not everyone has such refined tastes. Mike
  17. It's probably gotten to the point where a lot of people have been priced out of the McSpidey stuff, so they're taking more of a look at his Hulk work. Mike
  18. I would also try the Sketch Prices Facebook group. Mike
  19. Thanks. I picked it up about 3 years ago. Glad I got it when I did. The prices on his Hulk stuff have gone up quite a bit. Mike
  20. Here’s mine. http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1208606
  21. Just switched these from Buy It Now to auctions (and updated the links in the original message). Bid away! Mike
  22. Thanks to @PGEAR12 for hooking me up with this great Perez Infinity Gauntlet page. http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1474595
  23. I've got these two covers up for sale on ebay right now. If you're interested, please take a look. Thanks! Ninjak #5 by CAFU (ebay link) Faith #3 by Adam Gorham (ebay link) Mike
  24. Took me a few years, but I was finally able to add a Kirby page to my collection. http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1470857
  25. Yeah, it's funny you should mention that. I was just looking at some of the covers in the later sessions, and I had that exact same question. Makes me a bit hesitant to bid. Mike
