  1. Auctions close tomorrow. Both covers are still available at great prices. Mike
  2. Ebay: Valiant Rai and Archer & Armstrong OA Covers I've got some Valiant OA covers up on Ebay this week. Please take a look if you're interested. Thanks! Ryan Lee's Rai #12 Michael Walsh's Archer & Armstrong #19 (featuring Bloodshot) Mike
  3. The ones at Rue Royale site definitely are, but as for Choice Collectibles, I'm just going off the description on their site: "The Mummy Original Movie Poster Painting Oil on Canvas One Sheet size 27" x 41" inches. One of a kind unique painting. This poster painting is an Oil on Canvas by Artist Rung Formatted to one sheet size 41" x 27". It is an Original Oil on Canvas, after the vintage poster from 1932 Horror Classic, stars Karloff as Egyptian mummy revived after thousands of years. A true classic that will continue to endure. A "must have" for your collection and truely a wonderful conversation piece. Beautiful fine art "re-creators" by world famous artist "Rung" and his studio of artists who are themselves "Masters" at recreating the work. Each painting begining from a blank canvas is entirely unique, a 100% hand painted oil on canvas, original work of art that you will treasure and display with pride for a lifetime." If what they're selling is a lithograph then the description is very misleading. Mike
  4. To be fair, it looks like the ones on the Choice Collectibles site are hand painted recreations rather than prints. Now, whether you'd want that instead of a print is another question. Mike
  5. I've purchased multiple pieces directly from artists after contacting them on Facebook or Twitter. On a couple of occasions, after striking up a conversation with an artist online I've been able to pick up a cover before it has even been solicited. Of course, that can be a bit of a risk given that the publisher can decide not to use it for whatever reason. So far that hasn't bitten me, although I did have to sweat it out for a few months before one of them was officially solicited. Mike
  6. When I first started collecting I had an OA page framed along with the corresponding page from the comic. It looked cool, but I quickly realized that it took up way too much of my limited wall space. It's been sitting in the closet for a while, so I decided to take it to the framer and see if I could salvage the frame and museum glass to frame a smaller piece, this David Mack cover to Valiant's 4001 A.D. War Mother #1. Just got it back, and they were indeed able to use them both, so it ended up costing me very little. Came out looking pretty nice too. Mike
  7. Oh no, did I accidentally post in a Marketplace thread? Mike
  8. I first started collecting about 3 years ago when I picked up this Manhattan Projects page from Nick Pitarra. Thanks, Felix! Mike
  9. As much as I'd love to pick up some of Wrightson's earlier stuff, it's a bit outside of my budget. However, I really liked how this Punisher P.O.V. page had a bit of a horror element with the "monster" descending into the sewers, so I was happy to add this to my collection. It's also twice-up size (hence the lack of an actual scan), which I was kinda surprised about given that it's from 91. Mike
  10. Wow, you're right about the Fernandez Punisher pages. I remember looking at the full page splash of the gravestone on splashpageart.com, and it was $275. It went for 644€ in the auction. Mike
  11. Picked up a couple of Valiant covers at ECCC this past weekend. 4001 A.D. War Mother #1 by David Mack http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1379968 Harbinger Renegade #2 by Jim Mahfood http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1379969 Mike
  12. I've been trying to get my hands on one of Lewis LaRosa's Valiant covers for quite a while, and I finally succeeded. Divinity #2 Mike
  13. I was looking at those Giorello Conan covers in the auction too. Really nice! I just picked up Ryan Bodenheim's cover for Bloodshot Reborn Annual #1. It looks like Bloodshot has had a rough day. Mike
  14. Okay, so maybe I'm not crazy. By the way, Phil is a great guy. I bought a couple of his Valiant covers directly from him, and he was very pleasant to deal with. Mike
  15. Oops. That's weird, I could've sworn when I read the description originally that clarification wasn't there. Oh well, thanks for pointing it out. Mike
  16. Just out of curiosity does anyone know anything about the Amazing Spider-Man #583 variant cover that's in this auction? Auction Link It appears to be the same Obama figure from the first printing cover. I'm wondering if the Obama on this cover is a stat pasted on a board created just for this cover with the Lincoln Memorial being original art, or if it's the original Obama art and they put a patch of the Lincoln Memorial over the Spider-Man figure from the first printing cover. Mike
  17. This Keron Grant Ninjak cover is a large ink on vellum piece, and given the translucent nature of the vellum I wasn't sure how it was going to end up looking. Actually worked out pretty well. Mike
  18. Secret Wars were some of the first comics I remember buying as a kid, so the nostalgia was strong with this one. Secret Wars #11 Page 21 (Zeck/Beatty) Mike
  19. Yeah, his work is definitely distinctive. I kept coming back to his table to check out that cover until I finally gave in and picked it up. Nice guy to talk to as well. Mike
  20. Very nice! Coincidentally enough, I just received the cover to #13 the other day. Wrath of the Eternal Warrior #13 Cover by Al Barrionuevo Mike
  21. You're not the only one, although I was surprised too that it went as low as it did. I picked up a Ninjak cover he did for Valiant at ECCC this year. It's also an ink on vellum piece. It's currently at the framer, and like you I'm interested to see how the mounting/framing works out and how well it holds up over time. Guess we'll see! Ninjak #12 Cover: Mike
  22. Personally, I would just take a good picture. I wouldn't mess with opening up the frame. I have a couple of pictures in my CAF gallery rather than scans for oversized pieces. Mike
  23. This Renato Guedes variant cover for Valiant's upcoming Savage #1 really jumped out at me (as giant, scary dinosaur heads often do) when I saw the previews for it. I immediately contacted Renato and picked it up. Mike
