I swear, I ran into a guy/manager like this in my LCS in San Jose back when I was 22 - I put up with it for a few months, but his banshee-like screeds got the best of me, and I was so traumatized, I left the game for the next 8-10 years. Scarring. I was head-shy for quite a while until the beginnings of the internet started to kick in and I realized I didn't actually have to TALK to anyone, you know, in REAL LIFE anymore. Thanks - if a buyer posted they would sent "prompt payment" but failed to do so, then sent a PM that they would send payment but failed to do so, then sent a PM oops forgot to pay so will express payment when I get home from vacation but failed to do so, then read your PM asking what's up but didn't respond and almost two weeks (total) had passed, well what to do? I think the best function of the HOS are these conversations about whether a member is HOS worthy. That is when I place the name on my do-not-deal-with list. After that, I really don't go looking at either the Probation or HOS list before every transaction. I look at the list I created from the Probation Discussions thread! Does anyone else do this? Do you look to the two lists before every transaction? Dan

You have to have something personal to convey in your art or else you are working a trade. Totally agree! What a great memory with your daughter! Dan

Unfortunately, there are no guarantees in life. You can work hard and do all the things you're supposed to do... but at the end of the day, if it wasn't meant to be, it may not work out the way you expect. But this has no baring on talent or ability. The beauty of art is that you can continue to practice it and enjoy it. Keep drawing and painting with no expectations and stay active. Wonderful things WILL happen. Totally agree. Art isn't a waste of time for everyone. If it is, don't do it... it's all about learning how you fit in this world. Doing something over and over again that you hate will make you bitter. Dan I loved drawing so maybe I shouldn't have said it was a waste of time. But after 30 years, it's ok to throw in the towel.
