  1. Do you really want to drive me to Times Square? :whee:

I don't think anyone wants to drive ANYONE (including themselves) from LGA to Times Square. (Excluding MAYBE taxi drivers)

Yeah, last year's ride was a pain. Especially the last few blocks.

You can save yourself about $40* by taking the M60 bus from Laguardia to the N/Q subway at Astoria Blvd., which goes right to Times Square.

*estimating here; I have never taken a cab from LGA to Times Square

After flying across the country, the last thing I'm going to do is take a bus. :baiting:

Fair enough, but it shouldn't be a long ride.

  2. They're killing me. Hang in there with me men. On the other hand, I got my comps for:

    #1 - 2nd Printing

    #1 - Phantoms (Kaiju Special/BW)

    #1 - NYCC 215Ink Extreme Limited

    #4 - NYCCs (both covers)

    #4 - Standard/Alternate (Oeming)

    They look amazing.

Any chance that a boardie could reserve an NYCC exclusive? Maybe with a secret codeword?

Or am I just going to have to line up at 9am on Thursday and run straight there?

  3. I guess Gwen, after the Spider-Verse event is gonna make a few regular 616 appearances:

    http://www.bleedingcool.com/2014/09/30/spider-gwen-will-appear-in-spider-woman/

I just bought it because I read the Spider-books, wish I got some of the variants!

If they bring her back will the value of ASM #121 drop? lol

Did X-Men 138 drop after the X-Factor launch? (Not a rhetorical question; I hadn't started reading comics then. Also, I realize that the gap between events is much different, but it's the only comparable thing I could come up with immediately.)

  5. You sell labels jim, not books, and you can't even see the books in your listings - get a life.

You wouldn't know a HG book from a hole in the ground. lol

Just out of curiosity, would you guarantee that numerical grade if someone bought it and sent it straight into CGC without a press?

I guarantee the grade of every book I sell. I think I've had two returns in over 12 years and 10,000 sales. ;) And those were many years ago.

And even you know there are still many variables in this statement, "if someone bought it and sent it straight into CGC without a press?"

I wasn't trying to bait you, I was sincerely curious.

I will put this out there. A wager that benefits charity.

I will buy a raw book of my choosing from Divad's ebay listings, now or in the near future. The book can be sent to a neutral third party who will relay it to CGC, fast-tracked at my expense, without further pressing or any modification from its current state upon receipt. If the book comes back in the same grade, I will sell the book and donate any profits to charity. I will also donate $100 to the charity of Divad's choosing.

If the book does not come back the same grade, the book will still be sold with profits going to charity. Additionally, Divad must put the following statement in his signature line:

"I cannot consistently guarantee the grades of raw books that I sell on Ebay. In fact, I should probably get them graded myself rather than selling hope to others." in 20pt, bolded font, for 1 year.

Deal?? I'm 1:1 on public board wagers. I'm due to lose.

    You should buy this one:

    Wow.

  6. I thought Domino's first appearance was X-Force #8 per Marvel.com

    http://marvel.com/universe/Domino_%28Neena_Thurman%29

I agree, # 8 should be her first appearance. I suspect that CGC just overlooked that one.

Looked through X-Force #8 and Domino is all through out the book.

    So, Domino's 1st appearance is:

    New Mutants 98

    X-Force 11

    and now X-Force 8

Marvel.com has her 1st appearance listed as X-Force #8 so... back to searching the dollar bins

"Domino" is on the cover to #8, just like NM#98. However, looks to be a Strange Tales #114 type of issue, exepct carried forward over several issues.

    http://marvel.wikia.com/X-Force_Vol_1_11

"Domino is studying up on her teammates when Deadpool makes his appearance. He knocks Domino around and continues to call her Vanessa. He reveals that she has been working as a mole for Tolliver and has been giving him trade secrets on the team but has stopped recently. They continue to fight and Deadpool threatens that she must start giving Tolliver what he wants or Tolliver will come after her. He then reveals that she is not really Domino and has just taken her persona....Tolliver enters the depths of his secret castle. He walks with Pico and enters a room where he is keeping a prisoner. He states that she has been there for more than a year and has not adjusted to their hospitality. The prisoner is revealed to be none other than the real Domino."

Thus, #11 is the 1st appearance of the 'real' Domino, as the CGC label states. New Mutants #98 and all of the pre-#11 X-Force books are Copycat, impersonating Domino.

Nope. Check the info for issue #8, including:

    Supporting Characters:

Domino - (Only in flashback), (First appearance)

…We're given a glimpse of Cable's past for almost the rest of the issue. He's the leader of a team called Wild Pack…

Domino appears in flashback, and presumably this is the actual Domino, long before her abduction.

    http://marvel.wikia.com/X-Force_Vol_1_8

Yep, sorry Aggiez but this is correct. The Domino in X Force # 8 is the real one making # 8 the first appearance, not # 11.

But who's to say that it's not the real Domino on the cover of NM 98? It's not a part of the story, therefore her status is not certain, regardless of the interior. Cover apps rule in my mind.

I'm surprised that no one has yet suggested that flashbacks don't count.

I can certainly see an argument to be made that NM 98 is where we first became aware of a character named Domino and her general character, even if it wasn't her.

I know I'm relatively new here, but I will volunteer to be the recipient should this wager be accepted and the book purchased soon. I'm planning on submitting some books for grading at NYCC, so it's no inconvenience for me.

  9. …c) the character might or might not have a movie coming out (an actual movie needs to be made because every comic character seems to be optioned for a movie and a number of these things will not get made.)…

I'm not going to argue for or against your argument, but just wanted to make a point of fact that "option" generally refers to the exclusive opportunity to acquire the rights to an IP, and since Marvel and DC are both owned by companies involved with film production, the rights to all of their characters (with the exception of any Icon and Vertigo properties that are creator-owned), and already in the hands of film companies. Options only matter with other comic companies.

  10. This is Modern, not Copper, but considering nearly 13,000 people have already jumped on the Valiant Humble Bundle deal (link below), and that number is greater than the average print run of their books right now, and their books are high-quality, we might see a number of new readers trying to get their hands on physical copies of these books. Many of the issues are under 10,000 print run right now.

    https://www.humblebundle.com/books

  11. Look, folks...this is reality.

If we ever face the madness of the early 90's...and I mean, by the amount of people and money involved...then the print runs of the late 90's/early 2000's will spark an absolute frenzy.

Every book...every single one...with print runs less than 150,000 for years.

And the good runs....Authority, Planetary, Johns' Flash run, Loeb's Superman run, Ultimate Spiderman, Morrison's JLA...these books will be impossible to find.

There simply aren't any copies that exist. There are no "hoards" of these books hiding, like with Spawn #1, New Mutants #98, X-Force #1, 2, etc.

If you want the books....you must get them now.

Donut has been saying it, I've been saying it, others have been saying it for 10 years now: if you want these books, you have to get them, now, while they're cheap.

I checked out Deadpool books on eBay, and was amazed to see books with print runs in the 30,000s not selling for $4.

I was tempted. And I'm the cheapest guy around.

This isn't hype...I'm not selling them, nor is anyone I know.

If you want these books....get them. Don't delay.

Not taking away from your analysis, but in the early 90s how many people that needed copies to read had to pay the premiums because TPBs and digital substitutes weren't around?

Also, there's another point regarding the low print runs on comics....there's an ever-increasing supply of comics being put out, month-after-month.

The TPB and digital point is the most compelling one these days. It potentially limits the back issue market to collectors only, as readers don't *have* to own an original copy of the issue to read it.

  12. There are soooo many X-Force #2's out there, what's the consensus here in terms of where this book is going to go? Trying to decide whether to unload the 5-6 copies I'm sure I've got somewhere now, or actually hang onto them. Or spilt the difference and hold one and sell the rest?

Trying to think of an analogy to another book...a suddenly hot second appearance and can't really think of one.

I'm considering putting together a Deadpool package for eBay. NM 98, X-Force 1 (Deadpool card), 2 & 11, and Circle Chase 1. I've got multiples of all so it might be interesting.
