  1. While I like most of DC's horror titles from the 70's, Unexpected is, along with Weird Mystery Tales, my favorite. Here are a few I recently picked up for a modest price and one Darth Korgi got for me. I found issue 127, rather damaged, in a box at a shop in the Orlando area. I 'd never seen it before and immediately was captivated by that great cover!
  2. Here's a creepy little tale of justice from an EC comic, CrimeSuspenstories #8. This issue contained a Haunt of Fear story drawn by Graham Ingels. This is the only EC comic I own, courtesy of Darth Korgi. I hope you guys don't mind an EC tale on this thread.
  3. Great cover! Airboy should have kept his goggles on.
  4. This is a very creepy and atmospheric cover, way more interesting than some of the less subtle horror books. Real nice looking 4.0! That book has been going up in price lately it seems from recent auctions results. Congrats!
  5. I agree. Nice art in that! Great book, definitely easy to see why you have two
  6. Hats off to Out of This World Adventures. I love this cover! I even like the one with the Skipper on it (Adventure).
  7. Wow! I doubt anything I post will be new to you or you, Jayman, but I will try! Glad you liked 'em! I've never counted my books, but I've got over 10 sixteen inch boxes of 95% PCH...
  8. Wow Fifties! Those were all pretty terrifying! I've seen that Weird Terror # 1 and Voodoo # 7 before but the others are new to me! Thanks for posting. I'll try to dig up some more. You must have some library!
  9. Kaluta isn't my favorite, but that cover is awesome! And this is a comic I've not seen before. That program book for that convention in '73 is just too cool! Looking at it I want that as well! Thanks for posting this stuff guys! I have the 1973 Metro Con Program Book and that was one of the drawings in the book. Here's the covers of the program -
  10. I think I'm becoming addicted to them. Not every story is great, but who could say no to 100 pages of comics! They are almost like graphic novels.
  11. I suppose it was common but when the two are compared, it just looks like plagiarism. A pity since I like the cover.
  12. Holy cow! This guy is good! Really good! I'd buy this for the cover alone! Thanks for showing us this one! love it!
  13. I'm glad you guys liked it! I'll see about finding some other stories to show. I don't have a lot of original fifties horror, but I have a few. I could show a lot more seventies horror stories. I wonder if I should start a thread in there? Either way, this thread rules!
  14. Seventies Oddities part 2 I got this comic recently. I love Nick Cardy's covers! [/img] But other times it would be an add which had nothing at all to do with the comic. And the add would occur in the middle of the story. When reading them, it is easy to miss the page, because as soon as one sees an add, the general reaction is to turn the page. What made it even worse is that sometimes the story would be featured as only a tiny string of panels at the bottom or top of a page devoted mostly to an add. Marvel especially did this. It's easy to see why they discontinued the practice. I thought this was only during the early seventies, but it was in comics at least twenty years older, as in this Tales of Horror from the early fifties:
  15. Seventies Oddities Part 1 DC seemed to have gone through a period in the early mid-seventies in which they produced a number of 100 page books. I don't really remember these when they were coming out but I was pretty young at the time. I paid a lot closer attention to comics from 1975 onwards. I found this comic in a store in the Orlando area for only three bucks! When I saw the water damage on the back, the slightly mangled spine, and smelled its moldy odor, I understood why. Still, I'm looking forward to reading it! [/img]
  16. This is a great topic. You guys have inspired me to post a story in a book Darth Korgi found for me. It is in pretty bad shape, but it still reads well and the art is grand! [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img]
  17. Me too! My grandparents only kept the Classics because they considered them closer to real literature!
