@Bird: I feel really sorry for what happened to you! It's a shame to run art auctions and not being able to pack something as delicate as a page of paper properly!! Do you have any news from Cornette de Saint-Cyr?

Seems like there's business to do as a third party to ship (and maybe even bid and pay) from France to the US hm

  2. In Europe we don't have this kind of discussion, because all auctioned items (I mean *real* auctions - not eBay - such as the ones from Christie's, Sotheby's, Artcurial, Millon...) have an estimation, and all auctioned items have a reserve price which is often set at the low estimation price. Which means in fact that estimations are not real expert estimations but are driven by the reserve price negociated with the seller.

  3. Some new original art in my collection these last weeks!

Click on thumbnails to access CAF pages. Hope you'll enjoy.

First some european art, not sure you know about Théodore Poussin but I love this series

Then an Hellboy page by Mike Mignola, from a short story published in Dark Horse Presents #7

A page from What If #19 from Pat Broderick: "What if... Spider-Man had Stopped the Burgler who Killed his Uncle?". I love the way Pat Broderick reused and combined a few panels from the origins of Spiderman in Amazing Fantasy #15 by Steve Ditko! See additional images...

Thanks for looking, hope you'll enjoy :)

  5. First time I post on this topic, so it will be more about "This month in your ORIGINAL ART collection". October has been a REALLY active month. I'm still hiding from my banker smsc045.gif . As you'll see, I'm more interested into "modern" US comics. Thanks to some guys from this forum for accepting to part with great artworks! It's always a pleasure to deal with US/Canadian collectors.

    - a Sandman page, a dream come true

    - two pages from The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

    - a few Walking Dead pages

    - a few Sean Gordon Murphy pages ... I really like his work

    - a few Risso pages

Sorry but for now these pages are only uploaded on my 2DG gallery with descriptions in French. I'm desperately trying to educate French collectors on US stuff. You know how chauvinistic we are  (and how bad in English as well so apologies). But this site is also available in English, so feel free to create an account and leave a few comments if you like! Hope you'll enjoy as much as I do :)

  6. Hi everybody! :hi:

My first post on this forum will be to share pics for some of my favorite framed art.

One is from Franquin, the other one from Moebius. As both of them are quite small I did not want them to get "lost" in their frame. Plus the drawing itself was on the whole page, no blank border. That's why I chose a frame where the art looks like it's floating over the background (sorry if I don't have the exact terms... I'm French and we are not famous for our English skills ^^). You can see the borders and the shadow on the background. This way these arts look bigger. Both frames have exactly the same size, even if the Franquin art is smaller. Hope you'll like them as much as I do.

I also wanted a specific frame for a Mignola page, as I saw in a store a nice black frame looking like it was scratched and was red underneath. It was perfect for this page! Unfortunately the seller did not have enough of it and could not order more s this product was not available anymore. We tried to do the same kind of effect manually but the result is not as satisfactory (it looks more like paint stains that scratches with different layers) and I'll probably change it one day :-/
