I haven't put up any photos yet, but I'm between houses in an apartment right now, so most of my stuff is in boxes at the moment. When I get my new room set up, I'll be happy to post some photos and contribute to the thread.  I'm not much for social media, but I am on Facebook and I would love any information on your group, Batt!

Look for Batman Collectors. That is my group.

Batt, as a Batman collector myself, your comic room is on of my favorites in this thread!  If you have any updated pictures of your room to share, I would love to see them.  It's always a thrill to see something that I never knew even existed, and that I can begin searching for.  Now, being able to afford those items is a whole different animal, but I suspect that most of the folks on these boards are in the same boat.

Hey Batman1fan thanks lots for the kind words. Have you put up pics of your room? I would love to see them too. Also if you are into learning about the various aspects of Batman collecting and are on Facebook I run a closed vintage Batman group that you might get a kick out of being a part of Its membership is small by design but the people in it have a pretty good time there. Its not just show but show and tell. LMK if you have any interest.

Although a fun book, I imagine there's no spillover effect in terms of values for these types of WW related books, even with the the success of the WW movies?

My bet is that these "fun" covers have been in the doghouse for the longest while now, and will remain there indefinitely no matter how hot Wonder Woman gets since today's marketplace is generally focused only on the keys and classic covers.  :frown:

My take on Comic Cav is the same as for World's Finest for the first 70 issues which also suffered from the "fun cover" syndrome. They both are the last bastion of solo golden age stories for both Batman and Robin and Wonder Woman (Supes too but we don't collect him) and that is why I finally went after them. For years WF's were dead in the water in terms of desirability for a lot of collectors myself included. A good dealer friend of mine kept pushing me to buy them and I didn't because my focus was the Detective and Batman runs. Finally when I had them pretty much done and after I did the Star Spangled Robin issues I  saw the light and went after the WF's.  I remember going through the ones Metropolis had. Those books had not been looked at for years and the prices had not been updated either and I got a lot of books at really good prices. I also found out (but also expected) how tough the issue #'s in the 50's and 60's were (which is typical for most 1950's DC's as everyone knows). Then as I was getting near the end dealers started telling me people were asking for the same books I  was going for. All of a sudden the Metropolis box got emptied out of all the nice issues in it from people placing orders for them. People had begun to see the collectability of those books and while they are not in the Batman/Detective league yet  they are no longer the doormats they once were. This is what happened with Allie. Once she had the 2 main runs CC's were the last frontier to collect golden age stories she did not have. For Comic Cav I can see the potential for the same scenario if the movie brings in more people and they go after the Sensations and WW's and people want to read and collect stories that don't get reprinted in the same way her 2 main books do. To be clear I am saying this could happen and it may not. But collecting tastes change and it is hard to predict what people will buy in the future and I think there is a chance this could happen.

Furthermore (this is the main reason why I think my theory has some meat), as you'll recall during the Wonder Woman movie, Hippolyta made reference TWICE on Paradise Island to the fact that Wonder Woman (Diana) must NOT know some sort of secret. That secret was never revealed in the movie.

I think it totally was revealed at the end and by Aries himself but I  don't want to get any more specific without giving away stuff for someone who has not seen it yet.

Which of the 3 books (AS 8, Sen 1, WW 1) are you getting the most requests for? You need the trilogy to complete any true WW collection    but I'm curious which of the 3 seems to get the most attention currently.

As8 hands down. Then sens1 , closely followed by ww1

Well it should be  the book for WW people but most of the WW collectors we know have traditionally focused on WW 1. I think that is because a lot of  them are not really comic book people like the pros here are but rather are more WW collectors meaning all the other non comic but related WW  stuff. I know Allie nailed the 8 first then got the Sensation 1 and bought the WW 1 last.

Wow!  I could be completely entertained for months in that room.

Can I ask you. Is that Batman choc milk sign an original? I think the original one was metal, or porcelain.

Everything in our display is original. The tin one that is out there is a repro

  7. I think this might be appropriate here. If not and I can figure out how to delete it I will. The topic of credit for the creation of Batman has been discussed many times and by many people often with indignation and outrage. It is well known that Bob Kane never gave the credit due to Bill Finger while he was alive and it was long thought that there was no one left in the Finger family to speak up for Bill's rights. But thanks to the tireless work of Marc Tyler Nobleman members of the Finger family have been found and credit has been finally awarded along with all that means. Athena Finger is the granddaughter of Bill and in an interview for my Scholar's Corner column for Scoop Athena tells her story of what it is like living under the shadow of the Batman mythos. It was an honor to be able to interview her and to have met with her at NYCC last Oct. Many thanks to Athena for her time and candor.  http://scoop.previewsworld.com/Home/4/1/73/1017?ArticleID=194623

I never got to the beginning of this thread, just never had time. Hanging out today in front of the pc in kind of a dragged out leave me alone mood instead of being out in the fantastic weather I figured I would start going thru it at least a little bit so I hope no one minds a comment or 2 on  posts this far back. This book was one tough one for Allie to get if I remember correctly and the last one she needed to finish the run. I love the arrival date on it and wish all my books had them too.

I'd agree, I see asking prices at insane amounts, but unless there is a pedigree or a very high grade, I'm not seeing selling prices of the not so wonderful covers going crazy.
They are definitely higher than years ago, and I think people are starting to realize they are not so easy to find, but it's nothing like that Groot book.

I am Groot. I am Groot I am Groot :flipbait:

    +1

Definitely a nice run of books to have right now, especially considering that the new Wonder Woman movie is right on the horizon.  (thumbsu

After having only nothing except what basically amounts to high profile flops over the past few years, I believe this new Wonder Woman movie has a chance at being the first real winner for the DCU.  Not sure if any success (hopefully) will translate into higher prices for the GA Wonder Woman books, although the hype over the past couple of years has definitely already awaken the 3 major WW keys along with a few others from their extended slumber.  hm

Sellers are definitely trying to push up prices of the keys and some of the early issues but I am not seeing any real upward movement on a lot of her GA  runs yet. It will be interesting to see what the movie does to them if it is the success I think it will be.
