  1. Great books. My favorite genre I have 5 of the 7 but have never seen "The Hollow Needle". Just shows you that no matter how many vintage pb's you look at, there's always something new
  2. Further mirroring our pal catrick339, I'll offer anything left on the recap page at $7 per listing until 6PM EST this evening and then close this puppy up. If you were on the fence on something, go for it, some crazy bargains left at that price
  3. Steel Town could almost be Ray Johnson, look at Ann Sheridan and look at Johnson's Wonderful Bra ad from the late 1940's Of course, Johnson could have just used an Ann Sheridan photo or magazine tear sheet for his model like artists so often did but it's funny how certain images will hit you like "Hey, I've seen that before..."
  4. This one fits multiple objectives in my collecting universe

  9. Johnson did at least one movie poster that I know of, and came from a film animation background so was familiar with the techniques, also, Popular Library did quite a few of this type of multiple vignette covers in the late 50's - it was an art director thing I'm pretty sure.
  10. Run While You Can William Woolfolk Popular 790 1956 Hard boiled noir. Ray Johnson Good Girl cover Fine, looks VF has small tear/wear to back cover $10 SOLD

  18. There's a fair likelihood that this was a re-use by the editors. Goodman was as cheap if not cheaper than most publishers and it was common practice. Although many of the pre-Atlas digests have what are obviously original compositions by Cardwell Higgins and the like, this one is kind of unique in having only one subject. The signature right next to the head would be unusual in a cutout unless this was cut out of a larger painting that just happened to have the head in a corner somewhere with the signature next to the head. Time may tell if enough folks have an eye out for it.
  19. Most of my surfing time yesterday got took up with my $10 sale thread but I was delighted to find that the postman dropped this in the box. I've been looking for a high grade copy of this pre-Atlas digest since finding (and posting here) a good copy a couple of years ago. A rare book. It speaks (screams? chokes?) for itself but I think it's one of Saunders sickest covers. Color strike & gloss is... er.. killer
  20. Ok, we'll call that a wrap for today. I have a stack of about 15 more bargain books that I think will be appreciated around here so I'll put them up tomorrow when I have a chance. There's some honey-do to do so I'm not sure what time that's gonna be. Thanks for the takes and likes as always
  21. A Canticle For Leibowitz by Walter M. Miller Bantam F2212 $10 SOLD 1st PB edition 1st Print of the 1961 Hugo Award winner. One of the best post holocaust novels, still highly studied today and belongs in any serious science fiction collection. Tough to find decent copies of this 1st VG/F Solid and square, has surface wear and creasing but glossy and all together
  22. Well the Rays are getting hurt by the Orioles so there's no fun in watching that But seriously I'm winding it down, I have enough of a stack pulled out for a small session tomorrow so am probably leaving it alone after the next one. You did miss taking the big dog though
