  1. The oddest thing about reviewing this thread is that I mentioned copies of the 3 Ace LOTR books going for $30-70 each a year ago. I'm always looking at these books and lately it's $50-100 each for a good-very good copy and $150+ for real nice ones. Nice sets priced at $450-600 these days.
  2. Yeah, that's another top title I'd love to corral one of But I believe it's been determined to be by Darrel Millsap, not Bonfils.
  3. Some Friday fun... If you're wondering why I sold such a nice copy of "Overboard" on my board sale this week, it's because I got this stunner, which is the nicest copy I can ever recall seeing. The Girl from Hateville is such a great title and is one Gil Brewer book that has eluded me several times. This time I bagged it, and it's a very nice copy to boot. Zenith Books were Martin Goodman's continuation of his paperback publishing after he folded the Lion Library line. Cover art by Samson Pollen, one of his Sweat Mag stars. Finally one of the greatest rarities of the sleaze publishers, No Virgins in Cham Ky by John Dexter, Leisure Book LB1205. One of the small subset of Vietnam War sleaze books. Cover art by Robert Bonfils, signed by Bonfils on the title page and it's immaculate. I always say I don't collect sleaze per se but there's some you just got to have if you can get them
  4. Thanks Rick - I was too busy with my thread to grab but 2 from you because there's a LOT of sharp eyes around here bagging the $10 books Great thread as usual and I think I may have to do a $10 thread myself. One picture is much quicker than 3
  5. Ok, thanks again for the takes, likes and comments. Anything that hasn't sold is going to be 30% off until tomorrow night for you guys for being such a great crew. I'll try to clean the thread up and get business taken care of. Feel free to PM me with offers or wants - I don't have time to show everything I have for sale and have to go with how the board is flowing while I'm listing.
  6. Ok, last one for this sale, I've done some nice GGA but no Carter Brown, but I do have a nice copy of one of my absolute favorites I'm letting go... Zelda by Carter Brown Signet D3430 Third print. Undated. Late 1960's $30 SOLD to N e r V Glorious full length GGA cover art by Robert McGinnis in high grade. I find the exuberance of her strip compelling Very Fine Minus/Very Fine. Bright, glossy, square and solid. Great page quality. No creasing, light edge wear.
  7. So, speaking of 1940's books, I'm going to offer my second of one of the great classic titles that has disappeared from the marketplace. The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler Avon No Number #38 1943 $125 SOLD to N e r V Skull and Poppies cover by pulp great Paul Stahr. One of the most famous early Avon covers and collected by Mystery/Noir and Drug book collectors as well. I think this is the 2nd printing but Avon printings have not been documented anywhere. Fine. Great colors and page quality, Spine is tight with slight slant, wear to the edges. Colors are bold, covers are smooth with light wear, light finger bend on front and creasing on back that does not break color. An excellent copy of a classic cover that doesn't come up for sale often. One I'm equally happy keeping.
  8. Nude In Mink by Sax Rohmer Gold Medal 105. PBO First Print December 1950 $40 SOLD to mstrange Considered a classic pb title and cover since the first Hancer price guide. One of the 1st Gold Medal PBO best sellers. This weird one by Fu-Manchu and Sumuru author Sax Rohmer. Fine Plus. Solid square with nice spine, glossy bold covers. No creases, the lamination only has a few issues. A nice copy
  9. The Shadow, The Red Menace #7 in the series by Maxwell Grant Pyramid N3875 August 1975 $12 This one is structurally high grade but has a fair amount of rubbing and some little color skips as well as some glue shrinkage.
  10. The Shadow, Shadowed Millions #12 in the series by Maxwell Grant Pyramid N3968 March 1976 $45 SOLD to N e r V Another insane Steranko Shadow cover in near perfect unread condition. These two came from the same small collection of super high grade gems. Razor sharp, fresh, glossy and new. Has a touch of surface wear and I am nit picking to mention that.
  11. The Shadow, The Master Of Darkness #10 in the series by Maxwell Grant Pyramid N3966 December 1975 $45 SOLD to N e r V An insane Steranko Shadow black cover in near perfect unread condition. Razor sharp, fresh, glossy and new. What else can you say. You won't find better.
  12. Yeah, the 40's pbs are awesome. I have a ton of them but the Good Girl art didn't really pick up until 1948 and these sale boards tend to favor those books more so I show much more of the 50's - 70's books.
  13. The Dunwich Horror by H.P. Lovecraft Bart House #12 1945 $90 SOLD to mstrange One of the great classic early Lovecraft pbs. Lovecraft's second mass market paperback and very hard to find in any condition, nonetheless this nice. They invariably show up beaten and color faded. Also contains The Shadow Out Of Time and The Thing on the Doorstep. A must have for any vintage PB collection. Fine/Fine Plus. Solid tight binding, pages tight and supple. Great page quality. Unfaded spine which is very rare and super strong cover colors. There is some bending to the covers which doesn't break color and some writing on the page edge. One of the best I've run into in years.
  14. Psycho by Robert Bloch Crest Book s385 1st Printing July 1960 $40 SOLD to mstrange The one everyone wants. Tough black cover movie tie in with classic Janet Leigh front and back cover photos. 17. Vampirella, Deadwalk by Ron Goulart. Warner Books 76-630 Stated First Printing January 1976 $60 SOLD to goldust40 I kind of assume most of you comic guys know these and/or have them but I figure I'll throw this up here because it's such a killer condition book. San Julian front cover and Enrich back cover. Very Fine/Near Mint. Beautiful, square, glossy and smooth. Very fresh and white. Couple of tiny flecks of wear at spine edge. A spectacular copy.
  18. Flashman at the Charge Signet 451 Y6094 First Printing, First US Paperback, October 1974. The only edition with the Frazetta cover $25 SOLD to mstrange Fine Minus - Would be Fine or better but has some cover creases that lightly break color.
