Steel Town could almost be Ray Johnson, look at Ann Sheridan and look at Johnson's Wonderful Bra ad from the late 1940's Of course, Johnson could have just used an Ann Sheridan photo or magazine tear sheet for his model like artists so often did but it's funny how certain images will hit you like "Hey, I've seen that before..."

It would be a Crime not to post your Detective Pulps

Ok, this is the 15th and final one off the stack for the $10 sale and a classic it is Rampart Street by Everett and Olga Weber Pocket Books No. 681 9th Print 1954 $10 SOLD Classic Barye Phillips bondage cover, one of the most risque Pocket Books covers for sure. Fine. Has a light cover crease front and back or would grade higher, a very square and tight copy with bold colors and little wear.

Gonna start this puppy up again, have a nice stack of various stuff so hopefully there'll be something for everyone. Ace D-497 1961 Wandl The Invader by Ray Cummings 1st Edition Cover by Ed Valigursky. I Speak For Earth by Keith Woodcott. Cover by Ed Emshwiller. $10 SOLD Fine Plus. Solid square and glossy. Light spine wear. Appears unread or very lightly read. A pretty copy overall. Showing both so you can see how nice it is.

There's a fair likelihood that this was a re-use by the editors. Goodman was as cheap if not cheaper than most publishers and it was common practice. Although many of the pre-Atlas digests have what are obviously original compositions by Cardwell Higgins and the like, this one is kind of unique in having only one subject. The signature right next to the head would be unusual in a cutout unless this was cut out of a larger painting that just happened to have the head in a corner somewhere with the signature next to the head. Time may tell if enough folks have an eye out for it.

Most of my surfing time yesterday got took up with my $10 sale thread but I was delighted to find that the postman dropped this in the box. I've been looking for a high grade copy of this pre-Atlas digest since finding (and posting here) a good copy a couple of years ago. A rare book. It speaks (screams? chokes?) for itself but I think it's one of Saunders sickest covers. Color strike & gloss is... er.. killer

A Canticle For Leibowitz by Walter M. Miller Bantam F2212 $10 SOLD 1st PB edition 1st Print of the 1961 Hugo Award winner. One of the best post holocaust novels, still highly studied today and belongs in any serious science fiction collection. Tough to find decent copies of this 1st VG/F Solid and square, has surface wear and creasing but glossy and all together
