  1. Some nice digests from the high grade collection: Murder Vol.1 No.3 Cover art by Oliver Brabbins. Has a Harlan Ellison/Robert Silverberg collaboration "Pay Up Or Else" Accused Vol.1 No.1 Quite a lineup in this one. Sins of an Aspiring Actress by Doug Dupperault. Croydon Books #108 The thin paper covers on these are so fragile so I'm always stoked to come across copies like this.
  2. 100%. I've come around to that way of thinking anytime I'm confronted by rare books I want. I've never seen that Archer version of White Slave Racket. It's spectacular!
  3. Some friday fun... Cover art by Robert Stanley Whit Harrison = Harry Whittington. One digest you seldom see. Cover art Uncredited Cover art by George Gross. Love the giant blue hand! Only need two Phantoms to complete the run now Cover art uncredited. This is a tough little book to find nice. Cover art by Barye Phillips Cover art uncredited
  4. Gorgeous copies of colorful rarities. Par for your course Moonpool!
  5. CheckerBooks #5. I've never had a copy before this one from the High Grade collection. Tiny corner chip on that thin paper cover but I'm not complaining about this one. The covers feel like a comic book cover. Plus there's a rare Woolrich story waiting for me when I need to scratch that itch. It's a pretty impressive roster overall...
  6. PM me if you want. This collection probably upgraded 10 of my MacDonald pbs, you'd get 1st dibs and the friendliest pricing.
  7. Some more nice MacDonalds. I'll have to compare but I'm pretty sure these are all upgrades. Popular Library 737. Cover art by Raymond Johnson. Just gorgeous colors on this, one of my favorite Johnson covers. Has a few wisps of crease but i'm not complaining. Popular Library 830. Cover art by Raymond Johnson. I don't think this one is improvable. Dell First Edition B121. Cover art by Victor Kalin. I have to check but I might not have this one.
  8. Got in another box from the High Grade collection. Snapped a few quick pics to share some while I sort 'em. A sweet Day Keene Pyramid #138. Cover by Carl Bobertz Gold Medal 961. GGA cover art by Charles Binger signing as "Charles" Bantam 1294. Cover art by Charles Binger signed as "Binger" The guy could paint anything, including many great movie posters. Ruben and I may do a show on him as we both love his art and there hasn't been any articles or checklists we could find on him. Ace K114. Bare breast cover. I'd never seen this book before. I guess if it was a "native" it slipped through back then. More to come as I go through these...
  9. So I dug through my boxes and I remembered correctly that I had one of the last three. The last one and probably the most collected author. Edward Aarons. I paid good coin for this in an auction. The cover art is classic Avon. Borderline VG but
  10. There are 49. Here's a decent checklist with pics of all except one: http://www.philsp.com/pulptrader/web/pulp_mag_table5918.html Desirable depends on what you desire. Sci Fi collectors only go after the Merritt's, but those are probably the most common. All the rest are mysteries. There are several "true first editions", including two of the Chandlers (#19 & 28) and two of the William Irish (#31 & 42). The last three are super tough to find and probably the rarest (note that the missing pic is one of those). The Chandlers and last numbers in high grade are going to be a couple hundred bucks apiece from an established bookseller. Like all vintage paperbacks though, there are still bargains to be had on the web but they're becoming less frequent from what I see. OtherEric finds some out in the wild so they're out there too but they're not getting any younger or better looking, just like us lol!
  11. You are really working those MMM's! When I started my first collection I aimed to get them all. I got about half way there. I have fewer now but you're whetting the appetite again. They have a great look with that nappy skull colophon.
  12. Some more new additions. Not super high grade but I do buy quite a few mid grade books because sometimes it's all I can find for decent prices. As I upgrade they keep my ebay store stocked and they're perfect for actually reading. Lion Books 29, Cover art by Reynold Brown Avon 761, Great "Back shot" cover art by Raymond Johnson. Graphic Mystery 51, just read this one. Pretty solid mystery. Straightforward for Keene. This was 1949, before the Florida writers started creating more twisted characters and scenarios in the Gold Medal years. Avon 339, a slight upgrade but I still haven't found a Fine or Very Fine one Signet 1147, Cover art by George Ziel. His first cover and Ira Levin's first paperback. A vintage pb that I didn't know was so important until I bought this and researched it. Beacon B155. Classic JD title and another one for my "Girl" title collection
  13. Raymond Johnson cover art on this beauty. I have these Digests or would be looking at them myself. They have great Good Girl art covers and are scarcer than almost any regular sized paperbacks in nice condition.
  14. Why are you selling this for $40? Are you crazy? Oh... just saw it sold. No wonder. Lucky bidder. One of Cole's best romance covers...
  15. Lol. That is indeed a matter of interpretation lol. However, there is no interpretation as to its rarity in high grade. It just is.
  16. This just in... Coffin For A Cutie by Spike Morelli. Archer Press 1950. Cover art by Reginald Heade, one of his best imho.
  17. Great to see this thread RD The Frazetta Ace paperbacks in high grade are sure bets for the future. They check all the boxes of cool and still affordable (if you can find them in high grade!)
  18. This came in as well. Joy House by Day Keene. Lion Books 210. The wonderfully evocative cover art is uncredited. "She Prowled The Hobo Jungles To Satisfy Her Wild Desires" Who could resist that blurb?
  19. It's a good day when you close out the two holes in your high grade vintage Himes collection I've found these two to be his toughest in high grade. For Love of Imabelle, cover art by Mitchell Hooks The Big Gold Dream, cover art by George Ziel.
  20. Not a comic but I usually share these here when I get one. Picked up this rare L.B. Cole cover digest this week. Nice and Naughty by Gordon Semple. Love Romance Series No. 1. Super stoked as I haven't seen a copy for sale for years and this one is quite nice.
  21. Nice and Naughty by Gordon Semple. Love Romance Series No. 1. Picked up this rare (understatement) L.B. Cole cover digest this week. Super stoked as I haven't seen a copy for sale for years and this one is quite nice It's remarkable to me that the author's name isn't even on the cover, so sales worthy was the cover art lol!
