  1. Swamp Sanctuary Bob McKnight Ace D-411 This is a pretty tough book for an Ace $18 Sold to OtherEric Great Robert Maguire backwoods swamp girl art. Those shorts! That gun! Very Good. Glossy. Solid spine is tight, square, has a bit of color flaking to spine edge or would grade higher. Pages tight in binding and supple. Super light cover creasing and wear.
  2. Switching gears to some Good Girl books starting with this Maguire masterpiece: The Woman Who Rode Away D. H. Lawrence Berkley Books G-59 $30 Sold to goldust40 Incredible Robert Maguire bondage/torture/sacrifice cover Very Good/Near Fine Would be Near Fine/Fine but for some spotting on page edges. Solid spine, pages tight and supple. Virtually no creasing or wear. An Exceptional copy of one of Maguire's best covers.
  3. Cry Hard Cry Fast John D. MacDonald Popular Library 675 $30 A scarce 1st edition of one of MacDonald's early novels and a very fragile production it is. Notoriously difficult in decent shape. Gorgeous Raymond Johnson GGA covers, front and back. Very Good. Glossy copy with white pages that appears lightly read. Spine is slightly slanted, some unevenness of the pages but they are tight and virtually no creasing and only slight edgewear. One page inside is torn but all there. Popular Library's from this period are usually heavily scratched on the covers but this one has minimal scratching. An exceptional condition copy of this one.
  4. My Old Man's Badge Ferguson Findley, Popular Library #324 $15 Sold to goldust40 Beautiful Sam Cherry GGA cover art. These pulp style Headlights covers really set Popular Library apart from the competition. Very Good/Very Good plus. Solid spine has slight slant. Pages tight and supple. Very glossy with minimal creasing and edgewear. A very nicely presenting copy.
  5. Un-Man and Other Novellas Poul Anderson Ace F 139 $8 PBO Backed with The Makeshift Rocket Poul Anderson Very Good + Square glossy unread copy. Pages tanning. Light edgewear. Makeshift Rocket side has a line of color break from opening but does not appear to be a readers crease, just age/storage related.
  6. The Chaos Fighters by Robert Moore Williams Ace S-90 True 1st Edition $12 Sold to OtherEric Incredible Headlights GGA spacegirl cover art by Robert Schulz. Tough to grade this one, appears unread - covers are uncreased but spine has a couple of bends, from storage likely. Exceptionally fresh, bright and glossy.
  7. Star Science Fiction Stories Ballantine Books #16 $20 Sold to goldust40 An important anthology of original stories by Asimov Bradbury Leiber Wyndham, etc. Beautiful Richard Powers cover art. Very Good Plus/Near Fine. The book appears unread or very lightly read - Square, highly glossy with very little wear. If you've ever tried to collect early Ballantines, you know what a bear these are to find in nice shape.

  9. Philip K. MR. Eye in the Sky Ace H-39 2nd Ace Edition with a beautiful Kelly Freas Cover $15 Sold to alecholland Near Fine Solid straight spine - Super glossy, only very light wear Ace singles mostly aren't hard to find but in higher grades can be pretty tough.
  10. Avon Fantasy Reader 18 Vintage Science Fiction Digest $20 Beautiful Alien-ish Good Girl art Robert E. Howard cover story Very Good - solid and complete with a strong spine and no missing pages - slight rust on staples. Covers are otherwise very lightly creased with some light staining, overall in nice shape. Pages are tanning but still supple and very readable.

Avon Fantasy Reader 9 Classic Vintage Science Fiction/Fantasy Digest $20 Sold to TupennyConan Fantastic good girl art cover of the The Flower Women by Clark Ashton Smith credited to Ann Cantor in the copyright office, however I, and other researchers I know, doubt she painted any covers at all. Very Good - solid and complete with a strong spine and no missing pages - very slight rust on staples. Covers are otherwise barely creased and in nice shape, slight ding to upper right corner. Pages are tanning but still supple and very readable.
  12. Love Crazy Millionaire Croydon No. 57 GGA $20 Cover by Bernard Safran. Another outrageous title and a cool cover on one of the scarcer romance/sleaze digest publishers VG minus Solid binding, chip out of top spine, loosening at hinge, otherwise would be VG. Great colors. The book has been read but not trashed. The binding is straight and intact with edgewear, tiny chips and surface wear.
  13. Young Wife Norman Bligh Venus Books No. 177 $20 Beautiful Raymond Johnson GGA cover. Gotta watch out for those young wives! Very Good. Tight spine, light spine wear/creases. Virtually no cover creasing, light edgewear, arrival date.
  14. Back with some more digests to start: Immoral! Luther Gordon Quarter Books No. 29 $20 Great title! Nice George Gross cover. VG/VG+, solid square binding. Very Strong colors. The book appears lightly read and the binding is straight and intact with some edgewear and light chipping to the head. Small, light corner creasing and only light wear to the covers.
  15. It takes work to make that luck though, a lot of digging around usually so it's nice to get the payoff. Much easier to do with 60's - 80's books than 40's & 50's but it still happens occasionally, unlike comics where every lay person knows (or thinks) every book is a gold mine. For the stuff I collect, I am mostly resigned to paying market prices these days but I am always scouring for bargains.
  16. I truly appreciate everyone who took a book or two yesterday. I have some work to attend to this morning but I plan on returning later with some more digests, some science fiction and some 60's sleazy titles like Beacons & Monarchs that all featured Good Girls painted by the top artists of the day.
