  1. Is this the first app of the story or is the 10 cent the first? I really like this image for the story even though the Dell is iconic.
  2. I'll follow Belarski with an L.B.Cole Croydon I dug up. There are 4 regular size paperback Croydons, all with Cole "romance" covers. I used to have all 4. This is my only one now, I think I'm gonna have to keep my eye out for the others again...
  3. I picked off a few unread Dells recently too. The romance & mystery I grabbed because they are newstand fresh. Jokes is tough unread like this but has a little lamination wear. Hopley is, well, Irish. I had a perfect copy back in the day but this one is pretty good.
  4. Finally found some more Anderson space babe Planets that were in my wheelhouse. These 3 were on my most wanted list. Metal bras, see through uniforms & Bride of Frankenstein hairdo's all rock Oh yeah, Ray Bradbury stories do too
  5. @OtherEric I've picked up a ton of books on the holidays.. here's one I know you'll dig...
  6. Love it! Love me some Charltons too. But much prettier covers on the pbs other than Staton and Ditko on the comics.
  7. A couple more beautiful Monarchs... Paul Barton Harry Shaare Harry Schaare Rafael DeSoto I find this series to have a very "MadMen" 50's/60's advertising vibe. Overt but still very classy.
  8. Been working on the Monarch run lately, lots of incredible GGA covers by Maguire, Barton & Schaare. Crisp draughtsmanship, nice composition, colors that pop and many of them are PBO's.
  9. Populars are probably my second fave small format paperback after the Avons. Lots of dames looking over their shoulders
  10. Picked up another Clark Ashton Smith Wonder cover story with cool Paul art...
  11. Since theres no Gerber guide for paperbacks, I still get amazed sometimes by books like this one that i've never seen before. I can give you 2 big reasons why this is one of the best Avon GGA covers + the look on that guys face is priceless
  12. I watched his video on the early Croydon's this morning, pretty cool to see them all in one place. Did a little background reading and Croydon apparently became part of the Star Publishing group that Cole formed after purchasing the Premium Comics Group in 1949. Just like with his comics, he did almost all the covers at first - 15 out of the first 16 book covers - but farmed the Croydon digest covers out once he became a studio owner in 1949.
  13. This is one of my few Croydons now but it's an important one - its kind of beat but still relatively clean. If you're going to collect Croydon's, and you should , you may have to lower your condition standards because you can only get what you can get.
  14. Most of the Galaxy run can be had pretty cheaply still if you look around. It's a shame but a blessing as well if you know what I mean...
  15. Most of the Cole covers on vintage paperbacks/digests appeared in the run of Croydon books from the late 40's to early 50's. Unfortunately they were printed on paper that creases very easily making them pretty tough to find in nice shape. I used to have them all
  16. Can you imagine what this would go for if it was a comic book? Cover appearance in a pulp mag of the 1st edition of Fahrenheit 451, arguably the most important novel about censorship/fake news of the 20th century
  17. Picked up a few of these on my holiday shopping spree as well. No buttoned blouses here lol...
