  5. The one rule I promised the wife about my collection overflow is that I will always be able to push it all into the closet and close the door, since our playroom doubles as a guest room occasionally. Well, I've bought several hundred paperbacks already this year and there's no way that door is going to close unless I sort through them and sell some books so there's this thread now. I'm going to start with mysteries and good girls but have a nice collection of science fiction and comic related stuff to show later as well. I've been buying selling and trading Vintage pb's since the Hancer Price Guide came out back in the 80's. Been on Ebay since 1998 with 100% positive feedback. I tend to grade paperbacks in the manner of current pulp grading: Poor/Fair/Good/Very Good/Fine/Very Fine I'm a high grade collector so my books are almost all Very Good and better if they're available in those grades. Many pre-1960 books just aren't available in high grade often so I try to find solid Good-Very Good ones if I can. The rules for this thread are: -No HoS or Probation list buyers -I will ship to Canada but will have to quote shipping options. -Payment via Venmo or Paypal preferred. I also can do Zelle although it is a bit more of a pain to do. -Shipping via USPS Media Mail for $4 or Priority Small Box for $11 for the continental United States. More than one book I will ship at the least extra cost practicable. Shipping for Canada will be quoted. -First in the thread wins and prevails over pm offers -Returns accepted for 14 days after delivery but please let me know asap if you are unhappy for any reason and I will make it right. I do miss things occasionally. Feel free to pm with offer or questions. I'm always open to reasonable package offers.
  6. AI is a complete failure of actual intellect that is being fed to the masses as a solution to problems that don't exist.
  7. The bonus inside Marvel Tales from December 1939 is the 3 logos on the copyright page, 10 years before PCH existed
  8. I have most of the tough issues of the Marvel run, but I kind of despaired for ever completing it because of the pesky Marvel Tales part of the run. Well, I got the December 1939, so only 1 to go
  9. I'll kick it off with I lent my first edition of this to a friend and never got it back. Silverberg's 1sts from this period are criminally undervalued, just as he himself felt criminally underappreciated by the awards givers at the time and took a break from writing because he was emotionally exhausted from pouring his soul into these inward-looking novels he was writing in the early 70's. I remember being blown away by this tale of an unlikely "Superman" An earthly Telepath who was losing his powers and the joy he took in remembering his travels into other peoples minds, even as the power was slipping away from him and his sadness at becoming normal.
  10. Some extra fun... Tall, Blonde and Evil, just like I like 'em. Definitely something evil going on with the leg positioning there
  11. It's another "cool" cover - I dunno if the water is cool, but she's getting "cooled off" for sure
  12. Some Friday Fun... If number 3 was "cool" then Mysterious Traveler No. 2 is "Red Hot" Like a Cask of Amontillado
  13. I've been upgrading my copy of this one for many years now and they are notoriously tough to find without bad fading, in addition to usually being heavily creased. My current keeper is the best I've seen. The colors are very bold and the red frame that is usually way off centered is well centered here. This one looks to have been well inked because there is some of the red ink at the bottom of the covers as if it got smudged on the plate when it got inked. Has a little wear on the edges but pretty nice. The cover art is by George Mayers.
  14. A cornerstone book in any Vintage Paperback collection Congrats and "Nice Copy"!!!
  15. Incredible colors on this October 1933 Startling Detective. Must have spent the last 90 years on shelves in dark cabinets and closets
  16. That's a killer copy priced cheap. I have a minty set or I'd grab it but someone has to!
  17. Bookery's last guide had them as "somewhat common" but they sure ain't anymore in my experience. Nearly impossible lately. I think anyone who sees them goes squirreling through the interwebs trying to snap up any they can find. All 5 covers are outstanding. Here's number 3. It's kinda "cool" and probably somewhat desirable
  18. I previously posted No. 5 of the Mysterious Traveler with the suwheet Saunders GGA cover. Here's No. 4 with a "Killer" Saunders Good Girl cover...
  19. Ok, I've been exposed, you can stop surveilling my house Jimbo
  20. Ok... here's some actual WWII Golden Age goodness that everyone must own...
