Well, I had this notebook of character cut-outs from Golden Age comics...
There were a few whose source I couldn't identify...
I had seen the forums when perusing CGC's site. So, my first post on the boards was a new thread, where I posted a link to a page on my website that had pics of the cut-outs I needed help with...
All but one of the cut-outs that I couldn't identify were eventually recognized by board members.
The last cut-out was identified with help from Vinny at Metro. Of course, my intention was to write an article about the notebook entitled "The Kid Who Cut Up $1,000,000 worth of Comic Books" or some such, but other writing projects have gotten in the way. And CBM, where I wanted to send the article once finished, is no longer being published.

Another overgraded book, but a really fun cover...
-
Great cover. I used to own the Church copy, but sold it many years ago.
-
Wow, I only need 427 more to have them all !!!
Hey, you've got more than me!
-
Yes, and they were all overgraded.
-
Dude, you just got engaged. You're not supposed to have time for this sort of thing!
So be honest...when you set the date, you're going to make sure it doesn't conflict with a Heritage auction, aren't you?
Cool list!

Recently, I realized that the reason I like those goofy Lois Lane covers so much is because they remind me of Archies, the first comics I bought as a 5-year-old. The Lois/Lana rivalry so closely mirrors that of Betty & Veronica.
So, I picked up a few books off eBay this week. I haven't bought raw from unknown sellers in a while, and I was quickly reminded how bad the grading can be. None of these books were accurately graded. I'm keeping two, but haven't decided about the Laugh #130, as the cover is barely hanging on at both staples.
Very fun covers, though...

Anyone notice the upcoming January Heritage auction preview? They have a run of Detective Comics from #27-41 (minus #34) ALL restored copies.
There's a killer copy of Detective #6 in there too. CGC Apparent 9.2 (moderate P).
Bidding, are we?

Tim, you have too much money.
Can I have some?
-
That's so cool!

Shouldn't be too hard Sal. Aquaman gets no love, whatever Age he is from.
And yet he's getting his own TV series. Might be a good time to be picking those books up.

Anybody remember when the last time a high grade copy of Sups #23 was on the market and how much it went for?
Heritage had a couple of sales in '04...an 8.0 that went for $1380, and an 8.5 that sold for $1667.50. In '03, they sold a 9.0 for $3220.
-
#59 is a tough book in nice shape. Even the Church copy is only an 8.5. I would assume the the 9.4 in the census is the Reilly copy, but I'm only guessing.

I'm not crazy about that #44 in the Heritage auction. The cover is off-center, kinda dirty, and the foxing on the right in the logo area is ugly. I'd actually rather own thedude's 4.0 than this copy. It's a nice, clean copy. Now, the 31, 33, & 35 in the Heritage auction are pretty cool.
As for what I have, I currently have Supes 10-20, and Action 40, 43, 50, 52-63, 66, & 86.

With that avatar? I don't know...

Green Lantern 80 and 86 (ive gone over to the dark side )
WELCOME!
Happy hour is at 2pm, poker and pizza at 10.

Will do. You must already have a #98?
-
Yeah, I'm pretty light on Marvel at the moment.

Hey, I've got some! Where's the "jumping up and down waving my arms from the back of the classroom" graemlin?
How does he grade though?
Buy something and find out!

Recent purchase from Heritage, post auction. Still trying to finish the Detective run...
Greg, do you have a 'Tec #91? The 7.5 on Comiclink is really nice. The defects must be on the back cover, because the front looks much nicer.
-
I'm surprised no on has snatched this MMC #44 up yet! What a classic cover!
How nice is your copy, West?
