  1. I can only relate my personal experience with a few books. 10+ years ago, when Joe Rainone(whatever happened to him?) was selling the Charles Strong collection of Nedors, I purchased three books based solely on their Gerber Scarcity index. They were Exciting #30, Fighting Yank #5, and Thrililng #33. I don't have my Gerber in front of me, but I believe all three had a GSI of 8(one of them may have been a 7).

All these years later, the Exciting #30 and Thrilling #33 remain not only the highest graded copies, but the only graded copies of each book. The Fighting Yank is one of two graded. These books just never come up.

  2. Yes. All the date stamps on the Green Rivers I've seen are Tuesdays, at two week intervals.

Since all the books came from the same drugstore, and were ALL stamped, ( not just the GR books.but every book that the store sold). Is the only way then to verify a real GR book is to have the books bill of sale history? , or have a person attest to the books purchase/ origin? And compare it to the pdf list, see if it matches up with what was known to be an original GR book?

I am sure there are not that many HG comics from that store still floating around.. but you would think there would be a few. And would they not have the same tuesday RED date stamp placement also?

    Does that make sense?

The same question could be asked about any pedigree that has unique markings, including the Church books. Other books purchased at the same location might appear occasionally, but it's a testament to how rare it is for an individual to preserve a large collection for a long period of time that it doesn't happen more often.

  3. Curator, Boston, Western PA, Northland, Green River....keep 'em coming!

Here is a great Steranko Nick Fury cover - I don't think there were any bad ones. The guy was just the master of action-packed and dramatic composition. Could there possibly be any more guns? The Northland copy ain't too shabby either:
