  1. Agree, it's a beaut. But just surprised by final price. pages from the first two Dazzler issues are hard to find though.
  2. I was surprised to see that Dazzler #2 page by JRJR hammer at #2800 - a nice page, but man!
  3. Hi, Interested in finding some nice pages featuring Talia al Ghul. Would love a nice panel page from the 70s or 80s, but modern pages interest me too. LMK Mike
  4. Hi everyone, If anyone in the group won the Detective Comics #526 panel page auction on eBay that ended earlier today, and would like to make a quick profit, please LMK. I was bidding on the page and thought I had an alert for the auction ending, but alas, I received no such alert. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-Don-Newton-Alfredo-Alcala-Art-Detective-Comics-526-Talia-Signed-1983/302637960507?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT The page has sentimental value as it features the character my youngest daughter was named after -- Talia al Ghul! So LMK if you want to talk! thanks, Mike
  5. do a price check on Heritage Auctions' website for recent sales of FF splash pages ... FYI, that is a great splash page!
  6. Man, I really want to go after that Star Wars #7 cover -- tickles all the nostalgia for me -- but I have a feeling a certain Star Wars collector with much deeper pockets will end up with it.
  7. $4.5K!! I can't believe that Thundarr cel went for that much -- I was in it to win, or so I thought. But once I saw $3.4K wasn't going to get it done, I had to back off. Great cel though .. (sigh) I'll content myself with the nice Wonder Woman cel I picked up. And to keep this on-topic, there were some nice OA pieces by Alex Toth from the old Underoo Ads that went for good $$. Congrats to the buyers and sellers! Mike
  8. Thanks, Scott! means a lot coming from you, so I appreciate you taking the time to watch it! Jim's comments about wishing he had drawn more definitely fit well with your comments about the late books. What's interesting to me is talking to guys like McFarlane, and Marc and Jim now, and seeing how much they've learned about the business of comics since those days. All of you early Image peeps really paved the way for a better and smarter generation of professionals.
  9. The Dark Horse story is incredibly important in creator-owned comics, but we were focused on telling Image's story. It's funny, but I've wanted to do something in-depth on DH for awhile. I may be wrong, but it seems like that company has kind of been lost in the shuffle somewhat.
  10. Thanks for posting this ... and for watching! Sincerely, The Host/Executive Producer of it
  11. Hi folks, Anyone have a contact email for Klaus Janson or his rep? Thanks for any help. Mike
  12. definitely a recreation, and a fantastic one at that. I've had the pleasure of seeing that one up close. It, like MANY of the treasures at Metropolis, are a true joy to see in person
  13. and that is correct. the person who owns this cover visited Jim at DC and brought it to show him.
  14. I've had the pleasure of seeing this beauty up close & it is INCREDIBLE. Byrne/Austin at their peak.
  15. If whoever won the Parobeck Batman Adventures page on Clink is on the boards, LMK if you'd like to make a nice quick profit on it. Forgot it was ending tonight (insufficiently_thoughtful_person!!) The page has some ...sentimental value to me because it features Talia al Ghul ... and I named my youngest daughter after her Mike
  16. Hi everyone, I'm trying to track down a copy of the catalog to Sotheby's 1991 comic art auction catalog. If anyone has a copy they are willing to part with -- or even if you're willing to scan a few pages for me -- I would greatly appreciate it. Of course, I would happily compensate you for your time. Thanks, Mike
  17. Great topic! For me, the period between 1978-82 was when I became a comics fan. I was a serious Marvel Zombie, and I can thank the Avengers for that. That was when the title was firing on all cylinders, with my favorite lineup assembled, including heroes like the Vision, Cap, and the Wonder Man/Beast bromance. It was also when I discovered Amazing Spider-Man and Dazzler ... First Dazzler issue I ever picked up was #3, off the spinner rack at the U-Totem across the street from our townhouse in South Miami. C'mon, look at that cover. How could you NOT want to read that book?? I picked this up from Brent Anderson years ago, and even though I also am lucky enough to own the Dazzler #1 cover painting, the nostalgic pull of this one is even stronger for me. Just love it... I used to own the cover to Marvel Team-Up #78, another comic book that I read CONSTANTLY as a kid. Those Bronze Age MTU's were incredibly readable, and this one featured two of my favorites, so it was a natural to seek out. Maybe my biggest collecting regret is letting this one go when I needed to free up some cash. Now here's 3 others that I would love to be able to add to my collection. The cover to Avengers #158 is a dream purchase for me, the first Avengers book I ever purchased (from a back issue longbox around 1980) and featuring the iconic Wondy vs The Vision scrap. It's also probably the first time I ever laid eyes on Jack Kirby's brilliance. I know this cover is on CAF -- one day, I will make a stupid offer.... Unless I've gone broke trying to pry this one from another CAF member's hands. The Korvac saga ....'nuff said. I also LOVE the Vision corner box art from this era. perfection. One last one. I was also a big Byrne X-Men fan, like any other comics fan from this time. But Alpha Flight was a serious jam for me. Is the cover art to #1 out there? Talk about dreaming .... Byrne at his absolute, ever-lovin peak!
  18. that is a Silver Age BEAUTY! Love seeing OA come to light after being buried in longtime collections. Good luck to your friend in selling this -- I don't think he'll have any trouble getting FMV for it.
