  1. I missed that Heritage auction with the Kirby concept art, and I kick myself often for that.
  2. Thanks Brian. I saw those. I'm more interested in the production cels. I've found that animation cels are great ways to clutter up the walls of my daughters' bedrooms without my wife getting too upset with me
  3. Happy Saturday! I've been on an animation cel kick recently, and I'd love to track down any good examples from Thundarr the Barbarian. Anyone out there ever seen any, or know animation collectors who might know? And to keep it on topic, I'm also interested in any Thundarr original art used for merchandise and whatnot ... Thanks! Mike
  4. oh, WOW!. Now that's one I'd like to see up close.
  5. I was lucky enough to see some of the original paintings from the GI Joe packaging when I visited Hasbro HQ back in like, 2010. Some beautiful pieces there! I don't think I'm making it to HasCon ... and now I'm really bummed. This sounds incredible.
  6. (goes back and crosses out McSpidey splash from bucket list item) -- $25K ... EGADS!
  7. All I'll say on this thread is that JRR's art is STELLAR, IMHO. It has pop, it has impact, and he knows how to tell a story. Not a big group of guys out there who can combine a unique, instantly recognizable style with rock-solid storytelling chops. But that's just me.
  8. Likewise, Scott. I'll make sure you to give you the heads up when the video is posted so you can share it. I think the folks on the board will enjoy seeing you work your magic on-camera!
  9. Agreed! I saw a couple of nice MOKF covers on sale in San Diego I hadn't seen before. such a great series that always had awesome artwork!
  10. good morning! Happy to share my latest pickup, the cover to Master of Kung-Fu #60 by Ernie Chan! Been looking for a nice cover from this series for awhile, and I love this one. Extra special thanks to Saul Zimmerman for being patient with me as I paid this off, and who then delivered it to me in person at SDCC! (not the best scan, I know) Mike
  11. WOW! beautiful Starlin cover. I'm sure this won't last long ...Man, did MOKF have some GREAT covers!
  12. Me too. But I don't feel that bad that I'm tapped out because I would be outbid by Mark Millar. He was drooling over it on twitter and I'm pretty sure he wanted to take it down.
  13. Good morning and Happy Independence Day! I'm selling the original cover art to the 1989 British Marvel Super Heroes Annual featuring Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends. It's a reprint of the first comic appearance featuring the awesome trio of Spider-Man, Firestar and Iceman. The cover art was done by Martin Griffiths, who confirmed to me this was a fully painted cover. It's a great piece that hopefully will help me stockpile some $$ for SDCC! Here's the link to the auction on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/172760898172?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649 Mike
  14. I may be wrong on this but didn't Albert Moy have this on his site a couple years ago? It's an AWESOME PIECE!
  15. Hi folks, Been so busy the past couple weeks, I forgot to share this latest video featuring George Perez sketching Wonder Woman. I had the chance to sit down with him to take a deep dive into his career, which was a real treat for me. Here's the video of him penciling & inking a gorgeous full-figure WW, which we auctioned off to benefit the Hero Initiative. Hope you like it... http://www.syfy.com/syfywire/comic-book-giant-george-pérez-draws-us-a-wonder-woman-sketch-which-you-can-own Mike
  16. Isn't Bill Woo 'The' thanos art guy? http://www.comicartfans.com/galleryroom.asp?gsub=12458 I mean, along with having some absolutely ABSURD pieces from Jim Lee, Kirby and McFarlane ...
  17. That is a GREAT cover! congrats on finding it ...
  18. Here's a video piece produced for SYFYWire on the Spidey art exhibit, featuring an interview with Mike Burkey .... this turned out really nice, IMO...though if I were editing it, all you would see would be the OA all over the walls http://www.blastr.com/2017-6-13/celebrating-john-romita-sr-amazing-art-spider-man-exhibit Mike
  19. I agree with you, but we have to take social media into account, and shorter videos tend to grab more traffic. I promise there's much more to the Romita intv - MUCH more. We'll be posting other clips as Spider-Man: Homecoming movie approaches. I'll be sure to share those here. Thanks for viewing them.
  20. something else to note before chocking up the two Jim Lee auction results as due to the rise of the JLPC is that the Wizard cover isn't 'fresh to market.' It's changed hands at least once in the past couple years. I just realized ... I've been outbid on every single Jim Lee/Scott Williams piece I've ever gone after, yet own 3 All JL pieces. Does that make me a founding member of the JLPC??? P.S. this is my favorite of those ...
  21. Thanks for sharing the pix, Mike .. .and congrats to everyone involved with the exhibit. I'm so happy for the Romita's ... I can't wait to check out the exhibition when I'm back in NYC in a few weeks. Mike
  22. John romita Sr. Interview I sat down to talk with John Romita Sr. recently for SYFYWire about the Art of Spider-Man exhibit and his great career (OA was mentioned so its not OT ). Here's the first part of our conversation: http://www.blastr.com/2017-6-8/watch-comics-great-john-romita-sr-his-favorite-spider-man-issues I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed talking with him. I've been fortunate to do more than a few interviews with the greats of the comic book industry. Special thanks to Mike Burkey, who helped me set this up. Mike
