  1. Tomb Raider #1 Holochrome/PRINTING ERROR Edition A few years ago I purchased a Tomb Raider #1 Holochrome Comic that was CGC graded at a 9.6. The reason I purchased this comic was because it had a Printing Error. The Holochrome cover came without the Holochrome cover making it a very rare comic to find. According to the CGC Census this is the only one graded. I haven't seen any others, so I don't know how many are out there. I have a couple of Witchblade comics that have Manufacture Errors and the Tomb Raider #1 that has the Printing Error. CGC grades the Manufacture Error comics as Qualified and the Printing Error comics as Universal. I'm not sure why they grade them this way, but they give the Printing Error Universal grades their own slot to be entered into the Registry and not the Manufacture Error Qualified comics. If anyone knows the reason for this let us know. Thanks for looking...... To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.
  2. DO YOU BUY CGC GRADED COMICS FOR THEIR REGISTRY POINTS? I recently purchased a Wizard X-Files ½ CGC 9.8 graded comic via eBay. I was very happy to be the winning bidder and I purchased it at a very reasonable price. When I entered it into its designated CGC slot under the Wizard ½ category, I saw that it received 200 registry points, which is a lot for a modern age comic. Most of my modern age comics receive 35 registry points on the average, so it was a surprise to me to receive 200 registry points. It made me wonder if there are collectors out there that actually look at what their comic registry point value, when making a decision on what comic to bid on or to buy next. If your someone that buys comics for the registry point value first, please tells us about it and why. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.
  3. Witchblade #93 Wizard World Los Angeles 2006 Exclusive Comic I had this Witchblade #93 Wizard World Los Angeles 2006 Exclusive comic graded a couple of years ago and it received a 9.8. This was a limited edition #212 out of 250 copies. Like so many of these numbered limited editions, it received a handwritten number "212" on the front cover. This comic received a Qualified grade due to the "212" being written on it. I have had other Witchblade special edition comics with handwritten numbers on the front of them, but they received a CGC Universal grade. Is this because different CGC Grader's look at it in a different way? I think if the complete edition all receives a handwritten number, it should be a Universal grade. These comics are designed to have the handwritten number applied to them. Tell me what you think. Below is a picture of the comic. This Witchblade #93 has Marc Silvestri cover art and is a beautiful piece of art. Thanks for looking. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.
  4. Witchblade #95 Midtown Comics New York Comic-Con 2006 variant comic The Witchblade #95 Midtown Comics New York Comic-Con 2006 variant comic is another fan favorite. This rare comic is limited to only 500 copies and has beautiful cover art by the great artist, Michael Turner. I had this comic CGC graded a few years ago and it was graded at 9.8, which I was very happy with. This is another very sought after Witchblade comic and is very hard to come by in graded copies. I just wanted to share. Thanks for looking. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.
  5. Witchblade #98 Wizard World 2006 Philadelphia Con The Witchblade #98 Wizard World 2006 Philadelphia Con is one of the most sought after Witchblade comics. The cover artist is Tyler Kirkham. The cover is a very sexy and tasteful piece of art. I was lucky enough to score a CGC graded 9.8 Signature Series copy with Tyler Kirkham's autograph. This is one my favorites and was one of the hardest ones for me to find in a graded copy. Thanks for looking, I just wanted to share. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. 6. Hopefully this is the right answer for SED15244. I have this issue with my Witchblade collection all the time due to there being so many variants. If it's a variant that is not there I usually place it under the wrong slot and I do the same if the comic issue number that is not there, I just place it under the issue before or after it. Usually they update the information the next working day, which means they usually add the slot to the intended list. Give it try you have nothing to lose. CGC Labeling Errors

Labeling Errors, which keeps you from inputting your comics in their intended slots. I collect the modern age comics primarily Image and Top Cow comics. Many of these comics have numerous variants at times. I like variant covers, but sometimes they produce too many different ones, which just seems ridiculous. I have had numerous comics graded at CGC and I have purchased numerous CGC graded comics on ebay. When I first started collecting graded comics, I did not pay much attention to all the labeling information, because I got the comic I wanted in the grade I wanted. When I became a member of the CGC Society, I started entering the graded comics into their intended slots. I noticed several of my comics were not accepted for their intended slot. Unfortunately, several of the comics I have purchased and few that I had graded were labeled wrong. I would image with the bronze, silver and golden age comics you probably don't have that problem do to there not being any variant during the timeframe. Some of the labeling errors I have come across are the variants being labeled as the regular comic or even variants being labeled as the wrong variant. Some of the labeling CGC has is the labeling of a comic having 2 or more different covers, instead of labeled the others as variants. I have seen comics that have the handwritten numbers on the cover for example 5 out of 100, where some of these comics were labeled as Universal and others labeled as Qualified. Due to these many errors I have comics that cannot be placed in their intended slots. CGC has offered to fix the problems with ones I had sent in, but I guess I'm just not willing to part with them, after getting them back or to wait a lengthy period to get them back. Not to mention shipping costs. As long as I know I have the comic I wanted in the grade I wanted, I'll just keep it as is. I also collect Wizard comics and found CGC has slots for the regular cover and the Wizard Authentic issues. The only difference I can see is that Wizard placed a hologram stick on the cover. I don't know if these should labeled different or not, but I think they should be in the same slot. Even though CGC make errors, I'm happy with their overall service they provide and I will continue to be a customer. I'm sure there are more interesting stories out there in regards to labeling errors and I'm sure we would all like to hear about it. The Great Michael Turner

Michael Turner's Fathom 1/2 Wizard Special Edition CGC 9.8 Signature Series Michael Turner is definitely one of my favorite artists and one of the modern age comic fans favorites. When I first started collecting comics, I started with Michael Turner's Witchblade series. I loved the tasteful art that he created and after a while, I could recognize his art no matter what it was. He is a great loss to the world and will be missed by everyone that knew him or like me, some who just enjoyed his art. I was lucky enough to get a copy of his Fathom 1/2 Wizard Special Edition CGC 9.8 Signature Series and it is one of my favorites. See attached picture below and enjoy. Thank for looking. 9. Tomb Raider #46 Wizard World Texas 2004 variant Michael Turner cover art. The Tomb Raider #46 Wizard World Texas 2004 variant edition with Michael Turner cover art is a very rare modern age comic. Many collectors seek out any Michael Turner art and these comics were limited only to 100. CGC Census shows 10 out of the 100 have been graded with the highest grade at 9.6. Three were graded at 9.6 and I'm lucky enough to have one to show you. Thanks for looking and check out the attachment below. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. 11. Witchblade #76 Wizard World Texas 2004 I noticed there has been few journals about rare comics. Many rare comics are the ones from years ago that are hard to find, but now days it's the limited edition comics for the Modern Age. The Witchblade #76 Wizard World Texas from 2004 was limited to 100 and I was lucky enought to score the one that was labeled #1 out of the 100 that were issued. I had it graded via CGC and it scored a 9.4, which I was happy with due to being able to even find these comics and in NM condition. I believe this is the only one that has been graded. The last couple of raw copies that sold on ebay sold for over $130.00 and $150.00. Attached a picture of the comic, but my scanner is bad and doesn't scan well. More of my rare comics to come. 100% ALL-BEEF

Witchblade 100% ALL-BEEF Editions Hello! Iv'e been reading the journal entries for a while now and it seems to me much of the talk is more towards Golden and Silver Age comics. I collect Modern Age comics and I'm a big fan of Top Cow / Image Witchblade comics. My primary collection is Witchblade, but at times it is hard to keep up due to the fact there is so many different variant editions. Some of the variant are rare and are limited from 100 to 500 copies. Jay Company produced the very limited edition Museum comics, which range usually from 25 to 50 copies. Some of my favorite variants were the Witchblade #125, #126 and #131 100% ALL-BEEF editions, which were very limited. I'm not sure how many of each they produced, but the #126 seemed to be the hardest to come by. I was able to collect all the currenty ALL-BEEF editions and I was able to get them graded. I was very happy to get them returned at a 9.8 grade. I downloaded the Witchblade #126 100% ALL-BEEF edition to share with anyone that wants to see it. It is one of my favorites. Thanks for looking. CGC Points

How does CGC determine points? I was wondering how does CGC determine how many points to give to a particular issue. I understand that older more rarer comics would receive very high points, but I collect modern age comics and I have a few graded comics that are very limited variants. These variants range from a limited edition of 100 up to 500 and they seem to receive a very low point count at even a grade of 9.8. I've seen modern comics that were hot issues and not as limited, but still may receive a high point count. Maybe someone can inform me on how it all works.
